    Feedback - Captain Card Exchange
  • demilio_PSND demilio_PSN

    Dear SDS Developers,

I hope this message finds you well. I've been thoroughly enjoying MLB The Show, and I wanted to take a moment to provide some feedback regarding the captain cards system.

Firstly, I'd like to commend the team for implementing the exchange feature for cornerstone captains. It's an excellent addition to the game, offering players a way to continually engage with and improve their teams. However, I believe there's an opportunity to expand on this concept with a similar exchange system for all captains.

Here are a few reasons why I think a captain card exchange would greatly enhance the gameplay experience:

Equity with Cornerstone Captains: The current system offers an infinite exchange for cornerstone captains, which is both practical and enjoyable. Extending this feature to all captains would create parity and consistency within the game mechanics.

Limited Availability of Captains: With captains representing every team, it's unfortunate that players can only obtain two (4 total) at the moment. Given the variety of captains available, it would be highly beneficial to have the option to acquire and experiment with different captains to tailor our teams to our preferences and playstyles.

Enhanced Gameplay Diversity: Introducing a captain card exchange would inject a new level of excitement and strategy into the game. Being able to try out different captains would not only keep the gameplay fresh but also encourage players to explore different team compositions and tactics.

Potential Implementation of Cost System: To balance the exchange feature and maintain the game's economy, implementing a cost system for exchanging captains could be beneficial. This could involve earning a currency through gameplay activities or spending in-game resources to facilitate the exchange process, adding an extra layer of decision-making and resource management for players.

In summary, a captain card exchange system would contribute significantly to the overall enjoyment and longevity of MLB The Show. It aligns with the existing cornerstone captain exchange mechanic while offering players more flexibility, diversity, and strategic depth in team-building.

Thank you for considering this feedback. I look forward to seeing how MLB The Show continues to evolve and improve in the future.

    Best regards,
    Demilio

Captain card exchange, lets go !

  • When will the crashing get fixed ?
  • demilio_PSND demilio_PSN

I've had non stop crashing since Game Update 4 and it's driving me nuts. I've lost about a dozen mini seasons games (in one season) because of it and have had to stop playing that mode.

  • I didn’t get my now and later packs or Willie mays

Check your pack history on the website. You may have not noticed that you already received them.

How am I supposed to play the game if it keeps crashing?! Am I the only one whose game crashes in the middle of a diamond dynasty game? It’s incredibly frustrating.

Definitely not. There’s a few threads I started and a number going now all concerning this. It’s an issue for many on all platforms

I’ve now had zero crashes after playing on the PS5. I’m starting to think it’s a problem for the old consoles. Crashed every game on my ps4 that I tried to play. None on my PS5

About a dozen crashes in the past week here on PS5 since Game Update 4. Mini seasons is unplayable at this point. The crashing seems to be on all platforms from what I'm seeing. This bug is a showstopper, I'm disappointed that action hasn't been taken yet.

  • Suggestion: Greater flexibility in stadium choices when playing the CPU as an away team in Diamond Dynasty
  • demilio_PSND demilio_PSN

I submitted this as a feedback and was told by support to post it here.

I'd like to request greater flexibility in stadium choices when playing the CPU as an away team in Diamond Dynasty! One example of why is during mini season modes, where for those who really enjoy playing that mode can become bored of seeing the same stadiums again and again. This would also solve the long-time issue of playing conquest on the US map where the areas of the map end up being dominated by one team. The consequence of that is you're forced to play in the same stadium multiple times which is also unexciting. I think a lot of longtime and even first year players would really appreciate being able to select the stadium AND time of day/year in all modes (home and away) where you're playing the CPU. There's a little bit of realism sacrificed in allowing players to choose when they're the away team, but the excitement and fun definitely outweighs that! The computer also doesn't care what stadium it's playing at 🙂

Another related idea that would be appreciated by many: A random stadium option would be super fun as well and help break up the monotony! Random stadium functions such as a wheel spin at the start of each game could super fun in multiplayer as well!

  • Will you need PS4 disc in PS5 to play downloaded JR deluxe edition?

@ItsaCanesthing said in Will you need PS4 disc in PS5 to play downloaded JR deluxe edition?:

@demilio said in Will you need PS4 disc in PS5 to play downloaded JR deluxe edition?:

Does anyone know if JR deluxe edition will be different from the Digital Deluxe edition in that you need to have the PS4 disc inserted to play? It says "PS5 game on download code" which gives me hope that that is not the case.

Other games that were disk purchases on PS4 that got PS5 upgrades STILL require the disk to play on the PS5.
If those games still require a disk, why wouldn't MLB 21?

So if you have a digital PS5, I would not buy the JR deluxe edition

It's not an upgrade situation as the code is provided. I think this question unfortunately remains unsolved.

  • Do you think a non-seasonal ranked mode would improve your MLB The Show experience?
  • demilio_PSND demilio_PSN

The Problem with Seasonal Ranked Modes.
Seasonal ranked modes are designed to keep the game fresh and competitive, ensuring there's always something new to strive for. However, this system isn't without its flaws:

    1. Burnout and Time Constraints: Many players, especially those balancing work, school, or other commitments, find it challenging to keep up with the seasonal grind.

    2. Inconsistency in Progress: Each new season can be disheartening for players and can make it feel like a never-ending cycle without a lasting sense of accomplishment.

    3. Barrier for Casual Players: Casual players or those who join mid-season might find it hard to compete against players who have been grinding since day one. This can create a disparity and discourage new or returning players from participating.

How a Non-Seasonal Ranked Mode Can Help

Introducing a non-seasonal ranked mode could provide several benefits to the community:

    1. Consistent Progression: Players would have the opportunity to progress at their own pace without the looming deadline of a season's end. This mode would allow for a more relaxed and steady climb, appealing to those who prefer a long-term sense of achievement.

    2. Reduced Burnout: Without the pressure of seasonal resets, players can enjoy the game more leisurely. They can take breaks when needed without the fear of losing their hard-earned progress, which promotes a healthier gaming experience.

    3. Inclusivity for All Players: A non-seasonal mode would be more welcoming to casual players and late joiners. Everyone would have the chance to compete on a more even playing field, fostering a more inclusive and engaging community.

    4. Dual Modes for Varied Experience: Having both seasonal and non-seasonal ranked modes would cater to different player preferences. Competitive players can still enjoy the thrill of seasonal rankings and rewards, while others can appreciate a more enduring and consistent competitive environment.

Rewards Structure in Non-Seasonal Ranked Mode

To maintain the excitement and incentive of the ranked experience, the non-seasonal mode can offer the same rewards as the seasonal mode, but with differences in how quickly those rewards can be attained:

    1. Same Rewards, Different Pace: Players in the non-seasonal ranked mode would have access to the same rewards as those in the seasonal mode, such as exclusive player cards, packs, and other in-game items. However, the rate at which these rewards are earned would be adjusted to reflect a longer timeline. This means players will still be able to earn all the top-tier rewards, but at a slower, more manageable pace.

    2. Flexible Play Time: With a non-seasonal mode, players can focus on enjoying the game without feeling compelled to play intensively for short bursts. This flexibility can lead to a more balanced and enjoyable gaming experience, where players can set their own pace and still work towards meaningful rewards.

    Conclusion

Adding a non-seasonal ranked mode alongside the existing seasonal structure would provide a balanced and inclusive approach to ranked play. It would alleviate the pressures of seasonal grinding, offer a consistent sense of progression, and create a more welcoming environment for all types of players. The same rewards but with a different pace to attain them would ensure everyone feels motivated and rewarded for their efforts.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea. Do you think a non-seasonal ranked mode would improve your MLB The Show experience? Let's discuss and hopefully get the attention of the developers to consider this addition.

  • 3 batter minimum rule (3 inning games), was this intentionally changed?
  • demilio_PSND demilio_PSN

Thanks Blind_Bleeder! The wording on "Implemented logic to ensure that a pitcher in 3-inning games must face at least one batter. " is a bit awkward for the change from 3 to 1.
