It baffles my mind that they can’t at least nerf this pitch a tad…at least make it flatten out if you throw it high in the zone. So OP it’s really annoying.
Or you can learn to hit the pitch!!! Lol
Totally missed the point lol
Nope didn’t miss the point, your just making a complaint that is made every year about the “OP” sinker. They’re not going to fix it just like they didn’t fix it last year or the year before that or the year before that. Instead I would just concentrate on learning to hit the pitch. Btw, I used to be in your camp when it came to the sinker but I made a concerted effort to not allow myself to get beat with it. Now it’s go up there at your own risk. I’ll turn it around if you abuse it.
The thing about the sinker is if you are good at reading pitches and taking balls out of the zone....some of the sinker locations with certain pitchers defy physics so your brain takes a strike because it doesn’t make any sense how the pitch moves.
I will agree with you that once you see it enough you should be able to adjust and identify the sinker early and swing appropriately. You have to kind of identify it being a hard pitch and swing not waiting for the movement. I think that is how my brain has learned to hit it, not really sure but I can hit it pretty easily now.
It would be nice if the physics on it made sense and you could logically track the pitch without having to cheat on it.

For years I’ve used normal swing until I have 2 strikes then I switch to contact swing. And I have ALWAYS been able to hit homeruns with contact swing if I square up the ball, This is nothing new guys...I think because streamers just discovered this it’s getting overblown. It’s always been this way, Nothing to change.
Let me put it another way...Ichiro Suzuki was a contact hitter, Definitely never swung for the fences - Yet he still hit 117 homers in his career. It happens, Call off the nerf police, Sheesh!
I think people are looking at the issue the wrong way. I don’t think contact swing itself needs to be nerfed, but the ability to constantly mash balls way outside the strike zone is what does need to be nerfed. There should be a contact/power reduction for swinging at pitches outside the zone.
They need to just let people strike out. Back five years ago they didn’t have all this foul tip BS and people could strike out. Not sure why they put it in.
@kotank1334_psn said in About done with this game.:
It's literally the same game as last year and the hitting is just garbage. 8 PCI base hit/ 11 PCI jam shot for a run. boom down 1-0 in the first. 11 PCI MOONESHOT !!because he pinch hit for his pitcher with Griffey. Cause you know, pinch hitters hit bombs 75% they come up to bat.
I hope they actually take time to develop a consistent hitting engine where " User input is important as ever" you know.... like they told us. LOL. so all of our "stick skills can reign supreme"
I agree with you man. They need to overhaul the hitting engine. It’s funny because when you play enough you know when you are going to get screwed. Dudes foul of ten bad swings and the first decent swing they take is a bomb. Meanwhile when youre hitting if it isn’t perfect/perfect it is a routine out.
I quicksold all of the equipment stuff and wanted grind a few more TA vouchers to get Flaherty and Yordan. Was thinking of grabbing the 42 Griffey to play with until a better one comes out so got him for free, but I might just quick sell him for 5K more. I’m happy with it.
I also decided to do the Player of the month collection for Buxton and somehow had almost the same amount of stubs as when I started doing it after buying the missing players.
I was 50 K short on XP for the first inning and saw that player of the month collection for 50 K XP....So I got ten more packs and a Diamond Chapman as well.
My point is the Show gives out crazy amounts of free stubs.
@ray20dcr_psn said in Reward perfect pitches:
If I paint a curve ball down and away wit perfect release please stop rewarding ppl with a home run just bc the lined their pci there. Only problem I have with hitting is stuff like that when It happens.
I think the perfect pitch is just precise location. It is actually pretty rewarding. When I am on a tear hitting that is basically the only way I can strike out is when a borderline pitch is painted for a strike.
Dont tell me its all about stick skills because I have my WS banners, but playing the Chipper teams is annoying as a mf. How long til the market cards even out with the Chipper cards?
Its comical how many guys can't square up a ball and as soon as Steve Finley touches a ball with the PCI it is gone.
SDS should have made Chipper and company a grind like Griffey in 2017.
It gets really old playing the same cheese lineup of Chipper, Soriano, Ortiz, CAP, Finley etc....not only because it’s the same guys every time but also because most of those guys can take ten bad swings and the first decent swing they take is a bomb. Just gets old and it’s annoying because I want to enjoy DD.

The better fix would be to hit the balls against the shift and stop swinging for the fences at all cost; then we might get something resembling baseball back
The shift needs to be banned. You should be required to have two infielders on either side of second base. The fact that we arbitrarily run to first base and not third base out of the box is inherently unfair to lefties that first base is on their pull side. And when they shift lefties, they pitch them to hit into the shift. They aren’t serving them cookies on the outside third to flip into left field. You try taking an inside cutter on your fists to the opposite field.
I get the sentiment, but I don’t want gimmicky rules like basketball like no zone D or 3 in the paint and such. It would be like hockey saying to help offense, no more than 3 skaters in the Dzone at any time. As hard as pitchers throw this year, you just have to present bat to ball to get exit velo. Also guys crowd the plate more to try and get more lift on their swings. We’ll see; maybe the next “genius” young coach/front office will begin adjusting and start another pendulum swing.
As for contracts, it’s pretty much a slim percentage that gets the most money, the ones who can do more than hit HRs but also field and/or run. The middle class of 25-30 HRs and 180-200 strikeouts lumbering 1B and early 30’s players are left in the cold in FA classes in recent years. Look at Tatis, Machado, Lindor, Trout, Mookie... all multidimensional players.
I would argue that the shift itself is way more gimmicky than a rule that would prevent it.
I think that is ridiculous. I've said it many times on here now, fielders have always positioned themselves for the best opportunities at getting outs. Outfielders have shifted to one side since the game has been played, for hitters that have a pull tendency. They play deeper or more shallow based on hitters tendencies or situation as well.
It's a valid strategy, and perfectly logical, to put fielders in positions that the defense expects the ball to be hit into. Ask Wade Boggs, Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew, etc. how they hit to open field. You can still go the other way on inside heat, with an inside out swing. Hitters have done it since baseball was invented.
This isnt like lowering the mound, or moving fences in or out. This is completely rewriting the rulebook, mandating defensive alignment, because hitters hit the ball to the fielders too often? That's the whole point of defending.
I agree 100 percent. You should be able to position your defenders any way you see fit.
MLB needs to stop messing with the balls, mounds and fences to generate revenue.
I used to love BR...now coming over to it from RS is a joke.

What does that have to do with the post? You just came here to stroke your own ego, congrats.
On top of that a great hitter can mash Chapman...obviously the competition level he is playing at is bad.
CAP pitchers are the dumbest thing I have encountered in a video game in online play. Especially something that is ranked and has rewards.

Was nice knowing the content team. Been a pretty good run. Not sure where they happen to be these days, but yeah... Let's keep pumping out lots of other garbage in the interim.
OMG, let's drop another Brian Wilson! We can give them Bagwell again in December!
Wait, let's throw out 30 fake series cards...
He's on the legend roster again, so y'all didn't lose rights. He's not a trash can banger, so that narrative won't work.
I'm only one person. I know I'm not moving the needle here. But, I am extremely disappointed.
Astros have been under represented this game cycle. Majority of the content released continues to pile up in the L column.
Enjoy the rest of your day folks.
Now that you mention it I remember waiting until Christmas last year for Griffey. Maybe I will go back to 21 and hit some bombs with the Griffey we had to wait 9 months for.
@cccstunna30_psn said in Pinpoint Pitching:
Personally not a fan. I hated it in 2k because it just feels weird and is too video gamey, if that makes sense lol. It was a big reason why back then I liked the show better. Pitching is all about rhythm, with pure analog it feels like actual pitching, pull down to load the back leg and push forward to drive toward the plate. Meter is old school baseball games and is a mainstay. Pulse is just odd to be honest lol pinpoint I have to push or pull it at an angle, do a half rotation, then pull down at an angle while trying to make it completely straight. Feels like I’m pitching like Cueto, lift my leg, do a little shimmy, hop 3 times, do a little dance, make a little love, then throw
Don’t mean to knock it completely, but it’s too gimmicky for me. Feels like you would find it in rbi baseball or another game that needs to try and be different to get a following.
Haven’t heard of that beer, lately 805 has been my go to
I agree with what you said about analog pitching, but think meter is the most realistic in mimicking the release of baseball. Early from your hand and the ball sails...late and you spike it. I really like that aspect of it even though I do use analog because every time I miss the yellow on meter it is a non competitive pitch or grooved down the middle for an automatic homer.
Meter kind of sets up some realistic thought processes like making sure you don’t leave it up which cause you to release a ball late and spike it.
@mathman5072_psn said in Freeze offs:
I am currently in one now that just started. I’ve played about 40 rs games this year and have had two. So, I don’t think they’ve been exceptionally high, at least for me.
Ive played 50 RS games and have zero. I have 800 something rank points, so I am playing at the level where people would intentionally freeze the game for a win.
Reason why I bring that up is my last two BR runs have ended in a freeze off at 9-0. The last dude I messaged and he replied told me he was streaming but did not do it intentionally. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I agree with meter being dead on with release point, that why it’s the most OG in all baseball games. Analog creates an actual motion as compared to meter where you just press a button twice. I wish analog hitting was better, I used to use it all the time in ncaa baseball back in the day, felt so good loading and swinging to destroy a ball.
Side note if they are looking to add an old school game mode, 100% would love to see them bring back the HR/hitting game from ncaa baseball. If you’ve never seen it before I suggest everyone to check it out, it was really fun
I used to play NCAA too. I always used zone analog because of it. I still can do it and I could compete in DD and make WS using it a few years back, but with the sinkers the way they are now and everything having the extra fraction of a second with the button helps. I hate losing more than I enjoy using analog swings I guess.

This doesn't happen every online game, but any tips on how to counter against players that just try base stealing on every single pitch with baserunners that have high-90s speed?
Honestly I get tired of trying to throwing over to 1st all of the time and they will beat out the catchers throw when I do eventually decide to pitch to the batter. I am hoping that I am just missing a basic concept.
Every time they take an extra step throw over even if its 50 times.and if it does wind up double digit times do a report at end game about excessive lead offs. cauae maybe if it gets reported as griefing they put a fix for it cause 3 years of suggestions and emails havent worked.
If you slide step and throw high and/or outside hard you can throw dudes out.

Personally the pci is fine imo on hof but tough when you run into someone who uses pinpoint pitching with great control. I was on a nice streak and seeing the ball well but ran into someone who almost never missed hitting the outside perfectly with a cutter.
Is that what these guys are doing? I’ve seen way more painted pitches this year. Not a fan of it. It’s annoying af.
These dbags also have found a way to almost never strike out while taking garbage bad timing swings with poorly placed pci on pitches two feet out of the zone.
Not exactly sure how they do it, but it is really a shame the game allows it.
To be fair, the PCI feedback is not accurate; you can see how the guy swings and how hard the ball is hit, and the feedback says the opposite
Regardless of the pci feedback you can tell they are are way off of it and the timing is typically accurate. The balls are bouncing in front of the plate or almost hitting them and they foul it off.
