Just Dots, Dots, and More Dots...

@knoxwurst31_psn said in Just Dots, Dots, and More Dots...:

Let me ask you this. So when YOU are pitching, do you want to throw dots? Or would you prefer your pitches to not go where you intend them if you have a perfect pitch? It goes both ways.

I'm sure everyone wants to throw dots with THEIR preferred pitching mode. Why should anyone be forced to use something they are not comfortable with? And why should they be punished for their choice with pitches aimed down and in at the pitchers legs (say righty vs lefty), with perfect release that floats straight down the middle and into the hitters wheel house? It's stupid and makes 0 sense! If you don't use pinpoint, you aren't going to win as many games as those using it, it's simple as that. They may as well take every other pitching mode out of the game at this point.

I completely agree, there should only be pinpoint pitching and PCI hitting level playing field, I'm a terrible hitter but a pretty good pitcher I rely on my pitching to win games. If I throw a good pitch it is a good pitch, if I square up a ball it's a hit and same with throwing button accuracy only, if I hit my window its a good throw and if I don't it isn't. You want to keep everything else in offline than that's fine, but everyone should use the same methods for online play.

AROD before his Yankee days and all the juice, one of only 4 ever to have a 40/40 season back in 98' and he won a batting title and had how many gold gloves, back in the day he had some wheels too, you could justify a sick 99, he had it all and a shortstop on top of it all with a secondary at 3rd, card would be a BEEEEAST

@squid_adams_psn said in SDS F***ed Around and Broke Their Game:

The game should be played the same way by everyone. If tapping circle is an option for throwing to first, the results should not be randomly generated. I can understand it happening to a common fielder, but outside of that it’s just stupid. Either make EVERYONE use button accuracy, pinpoint pitching, zone hitting etc or don’t, and stop programming random outcomes.

There shouldn't be the same outcome no matter which type of style you use, button accuracy is harder than tapping a button, you have to time it right and depending on the play your timing window shrinks or increases. That is like saying no matter where you put a PCI you should hit a home run. I'll say it again like the other dude did if you want a perfect throw every time then use button accuracy and make a perfect throw every time.

@tmoneymill_psn said in Directional trash on HOF:

How does one foul off 46 pitches??? 46 foul balls.....this is why directional/timing only is trash.

I'm not even a good hitter I would say average and I consistently have 10 pitch at bats because of foul balls.

Were you playing on AS because the Vision PCI is about the size of the strike zone, you literally have to go opposite of pitch location and/or be completely off on timing to not make contact, which happens to me plenty but if you are even close your gonna foul it off and if you are a really good hitter they will adjust timing to be late and just push it foul.

Brett Gardner and Johnny Damon are perfect real life examples, super pesky hitters that foul everything off until they get their pitch, it's why two guys transitioned from speed and single hitters to popping 25 HR's a year.

I have a ps2 and a copy of MVP Baseball 2005...crazy how smooth the game plays, and this was over 15 years ago. MVP 2005 plays FAR superior to this one and Im not exaggerating. The only thing thats better now are visuals

They keep churning out the same game year to year, as we idiots keeping fueling them. We need to hold these bozos to higher standards

I forget which year it was and which game but it was on N64 and I will never forget the best feature I've ever seen in a baseball game...They would have the ball flash a color on release to let you know if it was a fastball, breaking pitch or changeup, you still had to decide 4 sm, sinker or slider curveball, but it actually felt a lot like real baseball where you can really pick up the ball out of the pitchers hand and look for the spin.

Clearly they aren't where we need to be to actually show spin realistically but if they put this feature in the game I think it would be a huge improvement. Especially for guys like me where I am a decent hitter but just don't have the time to see millions of pitches a year to just know what is what.

Really makes me wonder if it's because of them possibly using computer monitors with faster refresh rates etc.

I just started using a monitor this year and it improved my hitting leaps and strides but this guy wasn't doing what he did just because of a monitor, his timing and patience was his only weakness his PCI placement was flawless on almost every pitch but he sat way to hard on the fastball and just could not hit the changeup low or the slider outside, took me a while to figure out I had to pitch him backwards with all breaking stuff and then pepper a fastball here and there to keep him honest but those first 4 innings were why I lost still beat my *ss lol.

  • C32231112_PSNC C32231112_PSN

Just played a dude that I could not get out for the first 4 innings, posted up a 10 spot vs my 1.

I figured out how to get him out after that he only put up two more but Jesus he was on everything for those first 4 innings, out of the zone in the zone didn't matter he put it in play and usually over the wall.

Not sure how you figure a guy out like that without just getting blasted and hoping you can catch up, which I'm not a great hitter usually I rely on my pitching to keep me in and win games.

Could have been that I was using Paralta for the first time and I was not impressed, I locked him in so he'll get a few more go's but no way is he worth the stubs.

jacko2145 you are a hell of player especially being on xbox and what I'm guessing is your first year.

    Let’s appreciate the moment

    I am finally over .500 at 249-248

I’m just going to enjoy this before i purposely lose 8 in a row because I’m at 685 and dangerously close to HoF 😂😂

4 wins away from 40 too so will have Gossage by the weekend.

    Woop woop

I'm 20-4, that is what a 50 hour work week, wife and two yr old will do to you.

Drives me crazy too because I finally started playing on a monitor this year and it's done wonders, now that I'm actually good enough to possibly make WS I don't have the time to play hahahaha.

  • C32231112_PSNC C32231112_PSN

    Arod would be amazing
    Halladay would be so sick
Randy Johnson would be too fun
    Roger Clemens
Manny Ramirez should be the best hitter in the game if they used a prime card
Derek Jeter just because I'm a Yankees fan and they would probably make him way better than they should
Curt Schilling even would be badass even though he's a degenerate drunk and a racist lol

  • Most Toxic Player
  • C32231112_PSNC C32231112_PSN

Just played the most toxic player I've played in a while, no skill whatsoever, still tried to do the R2 trick every pitch even though it's been fixed, once he started losing he'd pause the game as long as he could, started beaning people and still had the b*lls to offer a friendly haha, just terrible. Worst part is he was just terrible 3 out of 3 hits were early or late no pci contact hit, one of which being a HR with AS Olson which is a whole other convo. Just venting I whooped him so not a big deal but just annoying.

@thegoaler_psn said in Do I Really Need 99 Ohtani?:

I'm still a few cards away, and play Offline. I'm saving up for Trout to finish the collection and don't want to spend to get the cards needed to get Ohtani.
I have his MA card to P3 and rake with him. I definitely don't need any more SP's or Outfielders so would you say forget about the 99 version?

It all depends, having a pitcher that is 2nd tier and that is a top tier hitter is fun as hell and for me Ohtani is my fav swing in the game I'm very rarely not making good contact in his at bat but based solely on pitching there is def 5 better options out there.

@x814xmafia_psn said in To everyone that's says it's my fault tot not being able to complete a Moment:

this.is ONE of my first five attempts (all walks) at the Hit a HR in 1,AB with AS Zunino.

So, please explain how I didn't complete it because I didn't hit a pitch that was hittable?

    I'm waiting.

When I'm about to walk in a 3 ball count whether 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 you can still foul off the pitch, use a power swing to shrink the PCI and try and aim on the outside of the ball, honestly if it's anything other than 3-2 just swing and take a strike, you know you can't walk so why are you letting ball 4 happen?

  • First Ever!!!
  • C32231112_PSNC C32231112_PSN

Keep all the way with that selection of pitches in a 99 reliever with his per 9's you'll have him in your bullpen forever, then again you could sell him now and scoop him much cheaper in a week.

    That is all.

  • July POTM? Any guesses?
  • C32231112_PSNC C32231112_PSN

How about they do a reliever most of the TA3 relievers aren't great and Raisel Iglesias has been literally on fire for July, 7 of 7 in saves, 24K's in 14 innings of work, a sub 2 ERA, .56 WHIP, 12 games pitched, 2 wins 1 loss, it would be great to have a sick reliever to have some fun with.

If not a reliever they could break it up with a starter like Kwang Hyun Kim, 3 starts 3 wins, no ER's and 10 K's in 19 innings of work.

Gerrit Cole has also been on a tear for July and he would be a popular option next best live series after Degrom so a lot of people would use him, 2 starts 2 wins, .6 ERA, 23 K's in 15 innings of work.

But yeah it'll most likely be Soto and we will have another outfielder to chooser from that we won't use when they drop 99 Mantle or 99 Mays or both.

It’s so annoying when people think cards perform better than their numbers. The main factor is user input, among a million other things. But given enough time and equal at bats the cards will perform as their numbers indicate. There’s always going to be variance, especially in small sample sizes. My last game I hit a walk off with Jackie Robinson. Does that mean he’s the best power hitter? No.

If you think ratings are the only thing that matters then you def haven’t used players like Soriano or Sam huff with horrible swings

See I raked with Huff, I only had him for a small sample size though.

Or flip diamond equipment and perks. It sometimes takes a while

Diamond equipment def has the best margins but it does take a while sometimes and you wind up with 40 of something and have to wait a week for the margin to be right.

Biggest profits are roster update investments if you know baseball you can make a fortune, just last update I bought almost 500 rasiel inglesias all for under 300, went from silver to gold in the update and quick sold them all that's 150,000 to 500,000 in about a week and I could have made way more if I wanted to list them all for the highest he was going for 1400 at one point.
