A monopoly would imply it's the only league in the US [censored]...
You: "Point to the flaws in my argument"
Me: "Okay here's this, this and this"
You: "Okay, but point to where I had a flaw in my argument"

No, you just have a very simplistic view of a monopoly, while the word mono suggests one, it's really more complicated then that, I would suggest you to read up on the history and evolution of monopolies and the laws created around them.

Mono is literally the prefix for one.

    mo·nop·o·ly
    /məˈnäpəlē/
    Learn to pronounce
    noun
    1.
the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.

MLB the Show is the definition of a monopoly. MLB is not

    Do you even read?

You are telling me what mono means when I literally said "while the word mono suggests one, "
and again, that is the simplistic view, the term and how it applies to businesses in today's world has evolved, both in terms of laws, (such as the anti-trust act that MLB is exempt from), The goverment has the authority to bust what it deems a monopoly, even if that business technically doesn't have SOLE position of all the resources it sells"

    Do you?

I did read, and I will repeat what I said regarding the definition you showed me

nd again, that is the simplistic view, the term and how it applies to businesses in today's world has evolved, both in terms of laws, (such as the anti-trust act that MLB is exempt from), The goverment has the authority to bust what it deems a monopoly, even if that business technically doesn't have SOLE position of all the resources it sells"

You are not the government though. So you do not deem MLB a monopoly. They do not deem it a monopoly either soooooooooo.....you're dumb?

I never claimed to be the goverment.

And the goverment actually does, why do you think they gave them an exemption from the anti-trust act? Why would you need an exemption if you weren't one?

You sure as hell claim to think MLB is a monopoly even though it clearly isn't though...lol

Why are you avoiding this exemption to the anti-trust act?

If the government and economic experts agree that MLB is a monopoly, I'm pretty safe in claiming that is in fact a monopoly.

You can hold onto your 1800's monopoly view, that's fine, but it's evolved beyond that.

So let me put it this way....if the government and economic "experts" agree that McDonalds was a monopoly right, would that make it one? No because we know that there's Burger King, Wendy's, In-N-Out, Checkers and plenty of other restaurants to choose from.

That it not comparable seeing that Mcdonalds marketshare is 21.4%, so give me a more reasonable analogy.

Fine. I can do this [censored] all day bud. If the government up and said WWE was a monopoly which by your loose definition it easily could've been because it makes a [censored] ton of money..doesn't mean it is. You have countless other wrestling promotions across the country and world.

Just because it makes a lot of money doesn't make it a monopoly in terms of the WWE, because it's competitors also make a lot of money to, so give me another reasonable analogy please.

Mcdonalds makes a lot of money to, so you are essentially just using the same argument repackaged.

Just because it doesn't fit you narrative doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. WWE (before AEW) was the only wrestling promotion on national television. Still not a monopoly. It actually is a fair analogy. You're just too far gone up your own [censored] to admit you're wrong. MLB is the only consistently televised baseball league in the US...So was WWE. They had a stranglehold on the business and the government and your "economic experts" could've easily done the same thing, but they didn't, because it's not a monopoly. Just like MLB is not a monopoly.

So WAS WWE, is the key term. I thought you were talking about WWE now and as demonstrated, AEW came, because they could. Read up on MLB's exemption to the anti-trust law and realize why a AEW type thing could not spring up in baseball because of that exemption

According to your simple mind and logic, MLB is not a monopoly, so yes in your head MLB is not a monopoly.

But as I've already demonstrated, MLB is a monopoly, and you can try and reason with yourself all you want, it's ok, believe what makes you feel good. It won't change the real facts.

I never said WWE now. I said before. And regardless if AEW is here or not you can still apply your logic to WWE. If WWE wasn't a monopoly, then MLB sure as hell isn't

And if your argument is the government says it is, then by their own definition WWE would've fallen under that same umbrella.

How many times do I have to bring up the anti-trust exemption? An AEW thing couldn't happen to the sport of baseball because of that exemption. This is why WWE wasn't one, because others could viably enter the market

You can do it all day. Doesn't make your argument valid. There are other Major League Baseball leagues. Just because the government says MLB is a monopoly, doesn't mean that it is lol.

Ok, where are the other major league baseball leagues?

    American Association of Professional Baseball.
    Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
    Empire Professional Baseball League.
    Frontier League.
    Pioneer League.
Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.
    Pecos League.
    United Shore Professional Baseball League.

Once again Professional Baseball is not related to MLB.

Mono is literally the prefix for one.

    mo·nop·o·ly

the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.

Again, you don't even know what you are arguing, where did you say before

"Fine. I can do this [censored] all day bud. If the government up and said WWE was a monopoly which by your loose definition it easily could've been because it makes a [censored] ton of money..doesn't mean it is. You have countless other wrestling promotions across the country and world.

How many times do I have to bring up the anti-trust exemption? An AEW thing couldn't happen to the sport of baseball because of that exemption

But they already have....there are other baseball leagues.....sooooooooo again......not a monopoly.

You can hold onto your 1800's monopoly view, that's fine, but it's evolved beyond that.

Because it is a legal loophole for the government to call it a monopoly even though by actual definition it is not a monopoly. Not my fault our government doesn't actually read the dictionary to know what a monopoly actually is.

Again, it's on you for holding onto the antiquated idea of monopolies. It's not the 1800s anymore, please take some economic classes or even just read up on the subject.

If it's not a monopoly, why would the government care to call it one and then give it an exemption and do nothing anyway? That would be pointless

No I go by the literal definition of a monopoly. Not the loose definition of one nowadays.

Just because you deem it so does not make it the literal definition today, I think i'll stick with experts and the government in this case over someone who doesn't seem to grasp basic economic ideas and concepts.

I think I'll trust the only person I can not to manipulate the literal definition of something to fit my narrative and instead use it the way it was meant to be used. Me!

So just to be clear, you don't believe in words and languages evolving over time and carrying different meaning?

I don't believe in trusting anyone blindly and accept what they say with no questions because they're in a position of power. I believe in taking in information, processing that information and coming to my own conclusion. I believe in thinking for myself. I don't just accept that MLB is a monopoly just because our government says it is, when I can clearly see that it isnt with my own two eyes.

They had a stranglehold on the business and the government and your "economic experts" could've easily done the same thing, but they didn't, because it's not a monopoly. Just like MLB is not a monopoly.

Me!

No, you just have a very simplistic view of a monopoly, while the word mono suggests one, it's really more complicated then that, I would suggest you to read up on the history and evolution of monopolies and the laws created around them.

Mono is literally the prefix for one.

    mo·nop·o·ly
    /məˈnäpəlē/

    noun
    1.
the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.

MLB the Show is the definition of a monopoly. MLB is not

People like him will defend the people who view their consumers as dollar signs instead of actual human beings. It's pathetic. Let me guess...you're a COD fan boy as well? Okay with paying for mediocre, unfinished games that are just made to take your money. I come from a time that when you booted up and played a game, that was it. No updates, nothing. It had to be complete when it shipped and when it wasn't, people just didn't play it. Developers make the games with the "oh I'll finish it later" mentality, but never actually do and move on to the next annual release because they know idiots like you will still buy it.

Um........ you have been buying them to up to this point.

On top of the fact this is the laziest excuse possible. This game is the only mainstream MLB game that has any type of production value nowadays (production value is stretching it) so if I (an ACTUAL baseball fan) wants to play a baseball game on a game system...this is the only plausible choice. That's called a monopoly and it's actually pretty illegal, but nowadays apparently people forgot or if they didn't, they just don't care. They'll just defend the billionaires.

It's not a lazy excuse, you specifically said developers make unfinished games because they know idiots will still buy them. Why are other people who buy it idiots, but you who also buy it is not?

Also it's not illegal, see major league baseball.

You're a [censored] moron. There's college baseball, Korean league, Japanese league, Mexican league, Dominican league, among MANY others all over the world. If someone wants to play baseball they don't NEED to play in MLB. That's not a monopoly.

Bringing up foreign leagues is not a good argument, because U.S laws don't extend to other countries. And you can only play college baseball when you are in college.

And I wasn't referring to the mere act of playing baseball.

Lmfao of course. When I bring up a point of there being more than one baseball league and a choice for people to go to said leagues regardless of it being a player or another job in the game. That's not a [censored] monopoly. The only way MLB the Show isn't is if we consider other sports games in the scenario, which is a HUGE stretch.

    Let me explain it slowly.....

Major League Baseball is exempt from the anti-trust act, having leagues in other countries where U.S. law doesn't apply isn't proof against a monopoly. I can really tell on your lack of economics here.

When Standard Gas and Oil was busted as a monopoly back in the day, this may shock you but in other parts of the world, there were other gas and oil companies! So does that mean Standard gas and oil wasn't a monopoly in the United States?

Talking, you used the word talking, when clearly we both had talked about it

Wow. You really are a special kind of [censored]. If I did not bring up the MLB and YOU did, you're the one completely changing the subject and me, being smarter than you called you out on your [censored]. Now instead of taking the L like a man you will beat around the bush just to try and find a foothold back in the argument. MLB is not a monopoly. MLBTS is a monopoly. Easy as that.

Easy as that huh? Must be nice just declaring something without providing any evidence why

Do I need to circle back to my Standard Oil example or have you already conveniently ignored it?

You brought up monopoly's first, specifically about MLBTS and how it's illegal, so a natural conversation would go towards, hey MLB is actually a monopoly and it's totally cool with the government who gave them a special exemption.

Also lol, I know I'm gaining nothing by saying all this, because your head is probably bigger then all those annoying billionaires (side note I really mean that towards billionaires, screw you MLB owners!) and that's why you are probably to blind to see, but it is giving me a chuckle

MLB IS NOT A MONOPOLY YOU [censored] MORON. American Association of Professional Baseball.
    Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
    Empire Professional Baseball League.
    Frontier League.
    Pioneer League.
Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.
    Pecos League.
    United Shore Professional Baseball League.

All American baseball leagues. Not a monopoly

    MLBTS IS A [censored] MONOPOLY

    List of actual baseball games

    MLB the Show

Do you see how that works?

Those leagues are all but in name associated with MLB, MLB doesn't care about them existing because they can test out anything they want there. If any of them said no to MLB.... well.....

Are they though? Does MLB own them? No. Not a monopoly. Now stop grasping at straws and sit your [censored] down.

I'm not grasping at straws, if MLB can control what those leagues does and what they can't do, then again, that's ownership all but in name.

Do you need a hug? I feel like we should hug, maybe sing a song around the campfire.

........................"they don't own them, but the leagues help them out with some stuff so that means that they own them and that it's a monopoly". Do you really hear yourself? Learn to take the L, bud.

The term "help them out with stuff" is being disingenuous on the relationship between them.

Perhaps another analogy that you'll also ignore and never address will help you.

If the government decided to have the final say on any change you want to make in your life, but the government also makes no claim that they own or control you, does that mean they don't?

Grasping at straws. So say I have a business, right? And I come to you (in the same business, but INCREDIBLY less successful) and we work together on a project that will benefit both of us. That means I now own your business because I'm more successful? Your logic really is getting worse.

Let's keep going along your line of thinking here. Say your business is more successful then mine, so much so that it has the power to completely shutter mine, and if I don't test out different rules for you, that may very well happen because you are protected in doing so under the law.

This literally has nothing to do with MLB the Show being a monopoly, but 👍. You do you.

Are we really circling back to this? Do you not remember the whole exchange earlier?

Do you not remember "grasping at straws"?

You can shout that all day long to try and act like you've "won" even though everything I've brought up is legitimate, but you do you

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahaahhahaahahahaahahaahaahaahahahhahahahhadeep breathhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. He's even copying what I said! "You do you" Holy [censored]. Your argument has been:
You: "MLB is a monopoly because it's the only league in America"
Me: "But there's other leagues not owned by MLB" You: "WELL ACTUALLY they own these other leagues because they the help out MLB test some stuff, even though they actually don't actually legally own them"
Me : "That literally doesn't make any sense"
You: "Yeah...well the government owns you too!!!!"
Me: "Well now you're just changing the subject"
You: "No I'm not! My argument is well formed and thought out"

Once again....do you see the issue...hypocrite?

Because you brought up MLB being a monopoly.......................and it's just not. I didn't even mention the independent leagues in the United States................loo

So there, it was brought up and we were talking about it, so why did you just say

"We were talking about MLB the Show being a monopoly. Not MLB. Has nothing to do with anything."

    I'm getting confused here!

I am not the one who brought up MLB but that shows you didn't read anything, but okay.

I didn't say you brought it up, please point out where I said that.
Do you need me to zoom in on what you said?

""We were talking about MLB the Show being a monopoly. Not MLB. Has nothing to do with anything.""

You probably do, but pretending you don't. I know your mind literally can't process being wrong, so I don't hold any ill will towards you not being able to see how much circling you've done.

My guy...you're the one who can't keep their argument straight!
