I agree that going to the opposite field feels better. I find inside pitches to be a bit of a mystery timing wise so far. Pitches that I typically smoke in 21 are being blown by me. When I speed up to try and pull that inside pitch, I'm yanking them foul if I'm making contact. This is probably due to some rust as I haven't played 21 lately but the timing window definitely feels tighter as well. Overall I feel timing windows are tighter and that's probably a good thing overall.
There needs to be a way to consistently keep inside sinkers and fastballs fair ESPECIALLY on perfect and good timing swings. It's ridiculous how you can be dominated by one pitch and the few times you turn on it it just goes foul.

Plate Coverage Indicator, the name is self explanatory. If you don't want to hear it, I wouldn't ask the question then. It won't change the entire guts of the game is built around it.
The wrong place at the right time (PCI is off but timing is right) will happen and cause hard hits and good results sometimes.
Yeah. Let me go outside and use my Plate Coverage Indicator to go hit some baseballs...stop with the dumb excuses. I've heard it all before. It doesn't make any sense.
So in one breath ITS A VIDEO GAME and the next it's absurd for the hitting mechanics to be as they are because they're not realistic in your view. Solid arguement
My argument is simple, for the idiots who don't understand, SWING BAT-BAT HITS BALL WITH BARREL-BALL GO ZOOOOOOOOOM. SWING BAT-BAT NO WHERE CLOSE TO BALL-BAT MISSES BALL. If you really can't understand that then I have no sympathy.
You have a perspective and it is not absolute -- at best, its an opinion. Your best bet is to tame the ego. Maybe go outside and play with your PCI.

No it is absolute. Too many people just follow whatever someone with power tells them, instead of asking questions and not just being thankful for piles and piles of [censored] to be fed to you. "Please sir, may I have some more?". I am confident in the fact that you should not be able to swing a bat, be nowhere close to the ball, and still make contact. I am also confident in the fact if you barrel up the ball it should go fast. That is absolute, because IT IS BASED OFF OF PHYSICS, NOT ALGORITHMS! The only people who don't think that way are the ones that get bailed out by bad gameplay design.

I'll go outside with my baseball bat, tee and balls and when I swing and I miss...I won't hit a home run. In fact, I won't hit the ball at all!!!! Crazy concept huh? And get this...when I hit the ball with the barrel....IT'S GOING TO BE HIT HARD!!! Egads! What a concept. Idiot.

Yes, but at least they make sense. Gravity just all of a sudden doesn't reverse direction on Earth for no reason. There are rules and physics that the world abides by at any given time. In this game NOTHING makes sense. I just want consistent, physics based results rather than the algorithms of the game basing the results of a swing on whatever count it is and the real life stats that come with that. You can crush a ball that should leave or be a base hit on an 0-2 count, but because the expected batting average on an 0-2 count is like .138 or something like that the ball will go DIRECTLY to someone to keep that same .138 batting average. What happens when people LIKE hitting in 0-2 counts in real life? Say that they have like a .298 average on 0-2 counts in real life, but they don't benefit from that because the game says that they can't. It's way too restrictive in the way that it plays and that's where the terrible game design comes in play.

OP’s post is spot on. Quality of contact should absolutely scale with how centered up the ball was in the PCI. Exit velo should probably also scale with how close to the center of the PCI the ball is.
I’m down to get rid of outer PCI. Make vision/contact create total PCI size. If you miss, you should miss.

I'm really hoping the angry hard core gamers that are not enjoying the tech test move on. So please, pretty please with sugar on top don't waste your money on the game. Let the TRASH players or what i like to call recreational players like myself enjoy the game. So take that $60 and buy a book I'd start with "What's Next after High School" by Juliet Murphy

I mean....be my guest! I will go live my life like I already have been. Then you idiots can ACTUALLY see what the "angry, hard core gamers" are talking about. Then the vicious cycle will start all over again. So, go ahead with your "edgy" comment and think you know everything about anything. They all learn in the end.

This kid right here is what I like to call "a fanboy for billionaires and people who couldn't care less about you". People like him will defend the people who view their consumers as dollar signs instead of actual human beings. It's pathetic. Let me guess...you're a COD fan boy as well? Okay with paying for mediocre, unfinished games that are just made to take your money. I come from a time that when you booted up and played a game, that was it. No updates, nothing. It had to be complete when it shipped and when it wasn't, people just didn't play it. Developers make the games with the "oh I'll finish it later" mentality, but never actually do and move on to the next annual release because they know idiots like you will still buy it.

Yeah billionaires who are in charge of the developers who make the yearly, unfinished games just like MLB the Show. Instead of making a working, complete game they know the idiots who play COD and Battlefield and every other yearly release will buy the unfinished games just off of hype alone.

Actually most of the time I don't. 17, 18, 19 I did not purchase. I downloaded them off of my friend. So jokes on your [censored].
So your friend is an idiot then?
Also congrats, since you didn't put 20 or 21 there, you've only been an idiot two years then.

Um........ you have been buying them to up to this point.
