Mookie has the best average on my team. His swing is one of the best in the game imo. His defense is great as well, only downside is the average arm.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS AND POINTERS. APPRECIATED!
Start with the AL Central. It is by far the easiest showdown and you can get some good cards out of it (Moncada, Buxton).

FOTF Michael Young has been amazing for me so far.
-
Brandon Woodruff (based solely on my investment decisions)

There are multiple FOF players that could improve your lineup, but here are my favorites so far:
FOF Correa at SS
FOF Rizzo or FOF Olsen at 1B. I prefer Rizzo because of his vision.
FOF Gallo at RF. I don't hit very well with him on HOF, but if you make contact and get under the ball it will leave the park more often than not.
FOF Soto is just a better version of his gold card.
Some good FOF pitchers are Ohtani and Snell. -

Record is pretty irrelevant. What’s your ERA with him?
ERA is 4.4 which is much too high for my offesnse in most games. I have a 2.1 ERA with Kluber and I would hope Newhouser would be much closer to Kluber.
I agree with the comment that most lineups are righty heavy. I think that has a lot to do with it.

He his my only starter below .500 and it feels like my opponent either can't hit him at all or completely lights him up. Part of it might be bad luck with me not being able to score when he starts, but a record of 2-9 is just jarring to me.
I really don't want to take him out of my rotation, but I'm almost to that point as I think this is a good enough sample size. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to pitch well with him?
Its hard to properly give advice since I have no idea how you are pitching with him. Are you often missing spots? Too predictable? Maybe part of it is just being unlucky. There are plenty of good cards in the game that some people struggle with.
Do you find certain pitches getting hit more? Do you feature the fastball too much that players just sit on that instead? Best advice I can give is to just try and keep mixing it up, both locations and pitch types and pray you don't hang anything.
I think it it might be me relying on the fastball too much, particularly on the outside edges against righties. I freak myself out thinking people are sitting inside FB, then they hit one out to the opposite field.

I'm only DeGrom, Scherzer, and Acuna away from Mantle and I'm sitting here watching Scherzer's price steadily rise. I'm not to the point of being able to afford them all, but I can swing getting Scherzer only (he's the one I'm most worried about).
I"m assuming this is because of the impending event? Should I go ahead and pull the trigger? -

this is kinda a complaint thread..but im seeing other ppl hit so its mostly an I suck thread.
I've been playing this game since the 989 sports days. ive been playing online since 2017. 17 18 and 19 i did fine. each year i could score runs, hit have fun etc. i was never WS, but very close.
this year, what's is going on with the pitch speeds in RS? in events i can hit, on conquest mode on HOF difficulty i win 14/15 times. with plenty of PP on any pitch type.
my TV is set to game.
this year in RS, i cannot hit most pitches and if you ever face me, just throw gas anywhere and im late. ive never seen fastball velos like this ever. but my opponents hit them, i see streamers hit them.
does any GOOD player have any insight for those of us that cant even hit fastballs that are teed-up in the middle of the plate?
this is the most frustrated ive ever been with a video game in my life. and ive beaten Ghosts N Goblins on the original NES. im no stranger to perseverance. but this is ridiculous.
This isn't advice, but know that you aren't the only one. I was a WS player last year, but I'm stuck in the mid 700's this year. I can't put together enough wins on HOF to break through.
I faced someone yesterday that couldn't hit either, but he it one more good/okay HR to the opposite field than I did. I'm trying to not get frustrated, but it is very tough.

I've been hit and miss with him. His windup takes some getting used to because it is quicker than others. I personally find it less smooth and it makes him harder for me to control. Once I get used to his windup, usually the 2nd or 3rd inning, I start hitting my spots better. As a poster above said, if you have a patient opponent and you're not hitting your spots you'll be in trouble.
He also doesn't have a huge speed difference in his pitches. Everything is fast to very fast.
-
AL Central and NL Central are the easiest Stage 1 showdowns. AL Central bosses are nothing special and Hader is incredibly wild when pitching.
I'm not the best batter (.233 in ranked seasons) so once I get to the second boss in any stage 1 showdown, I skip to the final boss. I'd say my win rate is somewhere around 80% when using this tactic. Just make sure you are taking batters tailored to hit the final boss as you go along.
-
I agree with the above poster. If we're taking away Biggio, Sheffield, and Mantle, Brujan has the highest average on my team by a good margin. His speed and defense are great as well.
-
Kiriloff has been great. He doesn't hit for a ton of HR pop for me, but he's an on-base machine and hits his share of homeruns.

Kluber
Lodolo
Wright
Prime Oswalt

Is Greinke a noticeable upgrade? I just bought Felix back. I flipped him for 90k not long after the program launched. Just played a game with him where he allowed 3 ER.
I've seen people say they do better with Greinke, but I've had the opposite experience. I find Greinke very easy to pick up and if you are playing an opponent that can recognize his curve and neutralize it, you are out of luck. His sinker does not have near as much break as Felix's.
-
It's a small sample size, but I'm loving FOTF Michael Young. Those 121/115 contact ratings play very well and his power ratings play higher than 79/73. I almost bought Banks, but now I'm glad I didn't spend the stubs.
-
It's a small sample size size, but I've loved hitting with FOTF Michael Young. Has GREAT contact and enough power to got the occasional HR and plenty of XBH. He recently replaced Brujan at SS for me.

I have both and have used both pretty extensively online. Personally I like them both and they are very different pitchers. Wood has a great fastball, slurve, and cutter. I haven't noticed a ton of control issues on these pitches. The fastball and cutter have a good speed differential too which makes it a great pitch to keep people off balance and the slurve has nasty movement. He has a curve and change,, but I use them sparingly because his control really suffers.
You already have Orel, so you know what he does well. I've noticed that people tend to sit low and wait for the sinker/cutter/change because he doesn't have a true fastball. I've been having a lot of luck throwing the front door cutter to righties and keeping the inside cutter off the plate to lefties.
As far as comparable pitchers for the price, I've heard that a lot of people love Greinke.

I posted this on a thread earlier in the week, but Young is my best hitter for average and that includes Mantle, Trout, and Walker. I have him batting leadoff despite his lack of top end speed because he is always on base. I play mostly on AS for reference.
-
I platoon with both of these guys and I hit for better average with Bagwell, but more power with Thome. If you're only going to get one I would suggest Bags since he hits both lefties and righties well and also has decent speed and gold fielding.
