If you do NOTHING DIFFERENT with 20. And just made the pci the only relevant thing for hitting. And if a person chases out of the zone then fine...line drive all you want. But a perfectly placed pci in the zone should not be consistently random. The randomization of this game is a game breaking flaw. And might be its ONLY flaw. I really don’t think anything else is wrong with this game but that. Because it just eliminates user Input. This fix would be groundbreaking and good. It’s literally my only issue with this game overall. Especially the ones where you work a good count. You are patient and that good square an out with babe Ruth lefty on righty?? It’s literally mind boggling.
I really can’t tell if this was done on purpose???
-
Hmmm. You have no issue with the line outs.
- Change the shape of the PCI so it’s the shape of a bat. The sweet spot should be dynamic based on pitcher attributes, batter attributes, pitch location and swing timing.
- Reduce OF speed
- Reduce movement for high sinkers to almost no downward movement.
-
I like the pci, but it won’t matter until the reward good contact more often the early or late. Yesterday I played two opponents that swung late on purpose because they know the meta rewards shitty contact.

Well yea. I do that’s what I mean. The good squared contact is randomized and the hitting is just always random. There is no understandable reward for good user input. It’s just a [censored] shoot.

Well the line out problem is separate because the issue is that when hard contact IS made its right at someone or someone makes a great play o it. Vs a squared up and it’s NOT hard contact

How about fixing pitching? The randomness of pitching has made things even worse. Go back and play MLB 17 or even 18 and see how many times you hit your spot and the pitch goes middle middle or hangs up a ton when you’re throwing below the zone. Hitting will always be somewhat random, but pitching should be 100% user input based as far as pitches going to the location you’re throwing to.

I second this...pitches should not be 8 inches off the mark on a near perfect release. SDS ruined Bob Gibson this year, based on his stats they gave him.

Only flaw? That's funny.
Every aspect of gameplay is wacked out, and has been since launch. And they justified hitting before launch by saying " this is how are game is"
They'll justify pitching by saying " well ..each pitch has different control and ."Just wait and see️

Has anyone noticed in the last couple of weeks there has been issues with PCI placement and the results of it? Meaning, I've had several at bats where the pitch is in the middle or mid-high portion of the PCI with good/okay/85MPH contact? The ball is only going 200-300 feet for a soft lineout/flyout.
I would expect a little better results with good placement and good timing with Mays, Belli, Teddy, etc... I'm ok with it being a lineout because that would make more sense, but a shallow flyball doesn't define real life physics , IMO.

Yeah, I've lost A LOT of games to a perfect pitches completely missing their spot: how do we account for doing everything right and RNG taking over?

- Baseball has more chance elements than other sports
- Player ratings impact outcomes in conjunction with user input
- Pitchers missing spots isn’t always a function of mechanics.
- Pitch confidence is real. If you have low pitch confidence and you throw a pitch bad things happen. Regardless of player ratings and user input.
- There are elements of hitting that arent acuratwly captures in the hitting mechanic.

While everything you said is true. It’s also obvious that this game just forces meatballs, hangers, and pitches to completely miss the location.
-
If I hit my target perfectly, the pitch should go where I was aiming every single time.
Seriously though, the game is just too random.

I agree with your points except #3. Missing spots has everything to do with mechanics. Unless your talking about release point? Which is still part of pitching mechanics. I would agree if someone is trying to side step, which would make a pitcher speed up his delivery and possibly throw off their mechanics.

Truth ... Pitching in 19 is a step back from 18, random meatballs even with perfect placement is annoying... 18 that didn’t happen..

It definitely happened in 18 as well, just not as much regularity as 19

The most 15 pci contact outs I've ever had on legend was 16

Rarely in 18, maybe when your pitcher starts getting tired ... I play mainly offline franchise in 18, it’s been solid in regards to pitching, I also play offline franchise in 19, and man it happens a lot, frustratingly ...

In 18 it felt like it happened more with change ups to me. This year I feel like sliders, cutters, and curveballs hang the most. I RARELY throw curveballs this year. I think I threw 3 or 4 in a game last night when I couldn't get the guy out. All of them stayed up, but fortunately he wasn't ready for any and whiffed at all of them bad.

Yeah, only in this game can a curveball up be an effective pitch.

To be fair, when I say up, I mean they were in the zone. Still stayed on below the middle.
