1.09 Patch Discussion

I've still seen issues of animations not triggering on catches near walls - both moving and stationary. Even if the ball is going to hit off the wall and not be caught, I'd like to see some kind of miss animation from the player that reflects that - it's better than them not doing anything and having an attempt not even being made.
However, the fielding away from walls seems much better post-patch - I feel like feathering the stick to make catches on line drives is becoming safe again.
This is where im having trouble also on balls that are hit close to the wall my players are getting like 5 feet from the wall and stopping when they had time to camp out under it.

This patch is definitely an improvement SDS, I'm glad you guys took the time to correctly fix most of the fielding errors. There is just one small problem with those infield pop-ups.I had a lock error with an infield pop up today but apart from that it was great. If you could fix infielder animations on bloop pop-ups in between the outfielders and infielders that would make it perfect.
Yeah, I had one of these where my 3B was frozen in place on a bloop that landed just behind him.

Going to post this here. Let's try to keep all discussion about 1.09 in this thread.
Any information on players not being able to move during rundowns? Occurring during a steal attempts for second base and base runner retreats, the defender is unable to move and on pitch outs against possible suicide squeeze the catcher unable to chase down back to third.
-
I haven’t had any fielders going towards the wall yet, but running to the left or right on fly balls feels more like last year where you were locked on.

They won’t move until they are backed up from another player. This was in the game last year as well.

When is hitting getting fixed it's terrible?
You spelled pitching incorrectly
lmao! I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING

Fielding is still jacked. Almost lost a Moment because of it.
Mike Trout AL West Moment where you have to get 3 outs with a 3-0 lead to win the game.
2 outs and the next batter, can't remember who it was, hits a fly ball to RF. My right fielder runs to the ball and all of a sudden decides to flop in the ground like a fish out of water. Ball was hit high enough that my player picked himself up and DID IT AGAIN just as he was about to catch the ball. Luckily it bounced over the wall for a ground rule double and only scored 2 runs.
Stuck the next batter out to secure the win.
I started recording the game whwn I entered the Moment, but evidently I messed something up because when I went to edit the video; I only had the last few secinds where it was showing that I completed it successfully.

contact results need to be more efficient hitting still seems inconsistent I know it's baseball but let the ball fly

Thank you everyone for the discussion and feedback so far.
I wanted to reiterate in case the update notes were not clear - we're definitely not done with fielding improvements.Glad to hear the communication that you guys are working on it and continue to. But those update notes were fairly vague.

yes I have seen this numerous times. Why can my feel they're not run during a run down? He just stands at the base in a tag animation like a statue
-
there seems to be an animation I have seen a couple times now after the patch. A routine fly ball to my outfielder and the last second the Fielding icon turns red and the ball lands right at my fielders feet and he gets it off the bounce.

He literally just said that in his post. Why reiterate it in a reply?

I seriously don’t understand why they can’t just change that one line of code from “BRKN FLDNG: Y” to “BRKN FLDNG: N.” Honestly this would have taken me 15 seconds to fix.

@CHYN2233 it's not locked

That setting is already set to N. The setting you are looking for is: "OnlyMakeGameHarderForCertainPeople=1" under conspiracy options.

@Collin_SDS One thing that I haven't seen many people talk about is pickoffs. In one day I had "successfully" picked off runners on 3 separate occasions (that is, the runner either tried to steal second on a lefty pick off or he was just caught on his heels). However, all 3 times the button accuracy was cued up even though I would never get the opportunity to make sure that I got the bar in the green for an accurate throw. This resulted in errors that would ultimately give the runner an extra base when they should have been out.
I don't know if this is a change to this year from past years where pick offs didn't require buttons-accuracy input, but I think it's more likely a bug that needs to be fixed. The fact that it pretty much defaults to bad throws has made me hesitant to pickoff which gives baserunners a strong advantage as they know I won't be doing much to hold them on.

This was a problem last year too, specifically with left handed pitchers. They never addressed it last year either.

If you guys could please communicate more with the community, it would make this process be much more pleasant.
The fact that we went weeks without hearing a word about gameplay is really disappointing as a customer.
I’m glad you guys are still working on it though. Thank you.

Yeah if the god awful fielding issues weren't present, this would be near the top of the list. They never addressed it last year and it needs to be fixed.

Still seeing some issues where OF’s are not locking onto balls. Just had Buxton run down a ball in the gap and let it hit him in the head.
Apologies if this is a repeat comment. 130+ would take a while to go through.
