If you’re like me and try to stay current with the next generation of MLB talent, most of the diamond and several of the gold Prospects already released have been familiar names that we’ve been hearing for the last couples years. But, I gotta admit.... very, very few of these FS stars names that have been announced are ringing any bells. BUT! We all probably know a lot about the guys from our favorite teams, so I thought we could make a thread to help each other out and inform each other about which FS cards might be worth the stubs in exchanges or the hours of grinding MtO or Showdown.

(before we even go there: I know, I know ... the idea of super-juiced stats on these guys is insulting to legitimate MLB stars, but let’s just skip that discussion)

WHITE SOX: Dane Dunning (SP) is probably the most logical prospect choice left for the Sox, since we’ve already got Robert, Vaughn, Kopech and (2!?!) Madrigal prospect cards. Dunning unfortunately lost a year to TJ and may end up losing this year to the virus, so the earliest he might be able to reasonably expect to see MLB action is his age 26 season. Dunning posted better numbers in AA than A, so he was making strong gains before TJ. No doubt, his control is his best asset. He doesn’t throw nearly as hard as Kopech, but he’s got a good sinking fastball and some movement on his change up. He won’t strike out guys at the same rate that Kopech will, but he was profiling to become a very good groundball pitcher (which would play well in Guarantees Rate Field).

Im certainly not making a real-life comparison, but his card could play similar to the 88 Maddux — great control, below average velocity, lots of sinking action on the 2-seamer.

But.... unless you’re a huge Sox fan or your starting rotation is really thin, I wouldn’t spend the hours grinding to 120 points for him. I don’t know what he’s attributes will be, but there’s no reason for me to believe he will have a significantly better card than a lot of other SP who are about to get FS cards.

Interesting fact! Dunning came over with Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez in the trade to Washington for Eaton. The Nationals won the WS, of course, so it’s hard to say they didn’t get what they needed out of that trade.... but if Giolito continues to be an ace and if either Lopez or Dunning become above-average big leaguers, then that trade may start to feel pretty lopsided before long.

Honestly, if SDS insists on giving us these prospects, I wish they had done a FS card for Micker Adolfo. He’s slotted to be the 3rd outfielder of the Sox future alongside Eloy and Robert. Don’t laugh... but the Sox could potentially have the best (offensive) OF in baseball in the next 3 years.

Anyway... who is (or isn’t) going to be worth the TA grind starting Friday??

The Cardinals now seem like a favorite to grind now that they have a over powered rookie card in Nolan Gorman. Honestly I'll say it now this card is going to be a beast. As a Cub fan I'm interested in the Nico Hoerner card too. I also think the Orioles Ryan Mountcastle card could be fun.

I want the Lux card from the event, I do not have enough good cards to compete in the event and would lose about 10 games and win 1. I do not have the pitching. I might just have to buy that card off the market.

Yah that Lux card looks sick. Once I have enough stubs I'm pretty sure he's going to become my second baseman.

I also really want that Alec Bohm card great for my revolving door at third base.

I am so far behind in TA. I just started a MTO last night about half way done. I have grinded a lot of innings with other teams of good Players I got early, Most of my good cards to play online are Dodgers and Yankees.
