Tagging Up
-
When I tag up, I usually select the runner I want and then press the base I want him to go. I am finding that I am getting hosed from inexplicable distances by fielders without superior arms using runners with decent speed. Has anyone Compared the difference between doing it the way I said and just pressing L1? I’m definitely going to just start doing the latter, but If anybody knows off hand if one is more effective, that would be great.

Stop tagging up with Albert Pujols.

Never again. Pujols couldn’t tag up on a ball hit into McCovey Cove.

It really depends on the situation. If the tagging runner is the only runner on, I hit L1. If there are more than one runner, I tend to choose the runner. The key is pressing the button just before the fielder catches the ball. There's a very short delay between pressing the button and leaving the bag, and timing that correctly makes all the difference.

I always found that the default base running setting were too laggy for my liking so I always switch it to classic (buttons and d-pad) immediately upon getting the game.
Plus, since there is the perfect throw home meter now, there is a bit of a boost to OF throwing (at least to home).
Hope this helps. -
