Hahahahaha! (Not laughing at you, you’re right!) my guess is they knew about these issues when they were taking our preorders and hyping up the game.

I'm not sure which game you're playing, but if you're talking about MLB The Show 20 I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. This year's game is brilliant!
From what I have seen in the Community Market, there are thousands of active players at any one moment. It's not evidence, just an impression, but everything this year seems so much more active and busy than last year...
...although, sadly that increase in activity is also reflected in the absolute downpour of players who feel entitled to success, etc. To those people, I would say simply that perhaps you should stop playing. The aggravation with which you're dealing is negatively impacting your life, but not just your life, the enjoyment of others is tarnished by those who must wade through the seas of bile in the forums in order to reach delightful archipelagos of adult discussion.

Even if they gave those out, they'd reduce the diamond odds from 50:1 to 200:1, and most of the bs diamonds distributed will be the weak Kershaws, Springers and Altuves...which shouldn't even be considered diamonds at this point.

It will give us a lot of useless cards for ticket exchanges though. It would not be useless.

If you don't have anything substantive to write in response, why bother with the boilerplate "chill out" (or similar sentiment) in reply? I'm not in any way agitated by anything in this thread (or any other). Attempting to pigeon-hole my response as some sort of rant is dishonest and beneath most people. I hope (for your sake) that such dishonesty is beneath you.
If you have counterpoints to anything I've written on this or any other subject then I would be very interested in reading them. Discussions between people who encounter similar stimuli but have widely different reactions can be very informative and even enjoyable. Writing a response which is little more, in effect, than saying, "I have no response at this time. Have this dishonest jab while I think of something or wait for the thread to go away".... is just pointless.
As a species, our ability to discuss information and ideas, to share differing viewpoints, etc... is degrading, some say atrophying. To my way of thinking, few skills are more important than communicating openly and honestly with other members of society.

While I certainly don't look gift horses in the mouth and thus cheerfully accept Diamond cards of any level when they come my way, to your point I suggested a year or two ago that the Diamond level be split as it covers too many overall ratings, a wide spectrum of trade-in/sell value.
One solution which would work, I think...
Tin: 0 to 59
Bronze: 60 to 69
Silver: 70 to 79
Gold: 80 to 89
Platinum: 90 to 94
Diamond: 95 to MaxA system like the one above would solve the issue of the current "low" Diamond cards being inflated Gold cards while also differentiating the very top level into two smaller segments to represent the wide variety in value between Diamond cards which are only a few slots apart.
What do you think?

Ok dude. So you don’t care about good okays in the pci? You don’t care that perfect release pitches automatically go down the middle? You don’t care that AFTER TWO PATCHES, FIELDERS STILL CANNOT LOCK ON TO BALLS.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a fun game to play and the content is fantastic, but the gameplay is so bad that you can compare to 18. -

As for fielding, I agree that it is more of an issue than it has been at any point in the recent past. Drawing on over a decade of development input and experience in an online game played by tens of millions, I tend to suspect that what has happened is that fielding fly balls was altered in an attempt to make fielding more realistic, but that the "lock on" requirement is too precise for most players to trigger reliably. This sort of thing happens quite easily and often when a new feature which is intended to be positive has the opposite effect, largely due to the fact that the in-house tests are done by people with thousands of hours of experience playing the game. Based on conversations I've had with SDS developers over the years, I would be very surprised to learn that fixing the "lock-on" in fielding is anywhere but very near the top of the development list for upcoming patches. Also, again drawing from my own experience, I can tell you that there is very little more horrifying or upsetting to a game developer / innovator / features manager (etc) than to release an improvement which doesn't work as intended from the jump.
Having said all of the above, I still manage to make 99.9% of catches in the field, it's just a little too hectic and requires maintaining positive control over the fielder through the catch, something we haven't had to do for many years now. Note, by the way, that you can fix this for yourself by temporarily setting the CPU to take care of fielding while retaining player control for throws.
As for the PCI, after every other argument and disagreement about anything and everything in human experience has been resolved, the last debate left will revolve around MLB The Show's PCI. I don't claim to be an expert on using the PCI, however I do think that one major contributing factor in the problems perceived by some players is the notion that as players we know what should take place when certain types of contact are made. As mentioned in an earlier post, there is an enormous degree of variance in the collision physics between a bat and a moving ball. No matter the experience level of anyone asserting opinions as if they are facts, quantifying the effects of the collision into a set of easily digestible and more importantly consistent outcomes is simply not realistic. For my money, the collision physics in batting is a major, MAJOR improvement of the game between '19 and '20.
YMMV.Thank you, very much indeed, for writing back in a way which fosters communication and discussion. We don't have to agree on everything - or anything, in fact - but when we throw communication skills out the window, willingly no less, we lose a bit of that which makes our species and society wonderful.
Take care. I hope that all is well with you and yours,
Bryan -

Entitled to success? Players just want their input to matter to gain that success. When we do everything right and the game spits out a random outcome, yeah, there’s going to be backlash. Players are entitled to share their opinions on this dedicated site for the game, show me where it says only “enjoyable comments”. For you to complain about the right for other players to talk about the game in how they choose to do so really shows the kind of person you are.
