How is the Community Market feeling (9)

I think that's more of stub rich investors cornering those cards' markets than it is automation, I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me. If someone has stubs to burn hit buy now 20 times turn around and re list them for for over 100k. It an expensive way to do things and very risky because if supply all sudden enters then the buyer is stuck with all of that inventory at buy now prices.

@drbear100_psn it’s def not greedy or stub rich investors. Players can’t have more then 5million Stubs at a time. If you have 5mil you can still sell things but you won’t get stubs for it. I seen the stub transferring happen enough in real time to have no doubt it’s automated and coordinated using 2 or more accounts. When you look at completed transactions of the card in question you see multiple transactions a minute with the highest and lowest prices - it’s not like someone is hoarding the supply of a card and charging a premium. You can’t tell if an entry in the completed sales list is a buy or sale and it would seem obvious, except when they are transfer stubs they create a large margin to have the account they want to move funds to buy the cards for the lowest price then sell then back at the highest. So if the margins are 150k and 20k. And keep in mind this happens so fast you don’t even see most of it on the bid sheet - the stub seller accounts list a card for 20,001 buy now and the new account buys it. Then the new account list it for 149,999 and it is bought back by the stub seller - instantly. Each time that happens, 129,999 stubs get transferred from stub seller to new account. Even when a normal or greedy player sees what’s going on, all they can do is buy up as many of the cards they can, see what the highest prices are when transferring is going on and list their cards for somewhere under that so the bots will buy it up the next time stubs are transferred through that card.

I’m probably sitting on 12-14 million stubs, with most of that being held on quick sells live series cards I can dump whenever. So 5 million isn’t a hard cap to my understanding, so it’s still plausible for legitimate users to be controlling some cards if they are that dedicated. Not as you described, since that screams to me obviously bots with the transaction windows described.
-
5 million cap is for stubs. Not value of your inventory. You can check that with the showzone app. To make this example easy - say you have 10 babe Ruth cards that are a million each. If you sold 6 of them - you’d only have 5 million stubs. If you sold 7 of them - you’d only have 5 million stubs. You can spend your stubs (or put in bids for cards) to make room to sell more things but you can only have 5 million stubs liquid at any given time.

@Oliver230230230_PSN No, I know all that. Just you mentioned people can’t have more than 5 million as if it stopped people from interacting with the market and controlling cards. On Show Zone I’ve been in the top 50 for inventory nearly the entire year, and I usually only have maybe a million stubs in my inventory at any given time since it’s always other places. Semantics though, do agree with most of what you posted, just was clarifying the first part of that post

Makes sense but I am sure some of both is happening. I really don't pay that close attention but I do know when someone is cornering a cards' market it's pretty hard to to get in. I assume stub transfer sites could possibly mimic this for cover, but I don't claim to know all the nuts and bolts of it. I am sure glad you have your finger on the pulse of all this and very eager to share your knowledge! It's very helpful!

@oliver230230230_psn Do appreciate all the investigating you do. I’m operating on very little sleep so I may have misinterpreted some of what you said.

@Manu__SDS_MLBTS I'm not sure what's going on, but a lot of live series cards have taken a massive dip in value since Tuesday. For the last two days they've been at rock bottom, after they'd been higher for a while. Like two weeks or more. What's up? Is it bots again? Wouldn't surprise me if it was. Definitely unable to make a profit on live series right now

@LadySwampfox_XBL noted!

Bot is heavily active in the Kazuma Okamoto World Baseball Classic card right now. Instant outbid when I bid or retract my bid. Also noticed stub transfer activity on the card on Oct 14 around 5:07 AM Pacific Time. Dozens of alternating bids between 18007 and 49990 stubs taking place within a minute of each other.
Edit: same thing with Logan Webb WBC card. I’m just trying to collect the WBC cards. Seems like most of them are botted and where the stub transfer activity is happening.

This is my first year playing this game so I don’t have years of experience like a lot of players - my take is that live series cards are only worth something when players need them to finish live series collection and I think 99% of players trying to do that have finished it long ago. The scouting report vault pack and new conquest with vault pack the last 2 days took the prices down even lower. Only a small handful of cards that have been around for most of the season have retained any value (a few wbc cards, inning boss cards, headliners cards), but if you look at them closely, you’ll see that most only have 1-2 sales some days. (Unless bots are working them ofc)

Agree with Oliver about live series. Something that SDS needs to do in the future is have inning rewind packs similar to rank/event/weekend Classic. I know once we get the final inning path that we get one boss pack from each inning, but for people who missed a month here and there or picked up the game late they are at such a huge disadvantage having to overpay for these cards that aren’t even meta. I don’t think it’s asking for much since they don’t even do cards for battle royals anymore. Also it is very dumb that Eddie Rosario and Logan Webb WBC cards are not in the ranked rewind packs.

The Vault packs from Mini Season, Conquest and Scouting report pack tanked the Live Series. Dont think it is any bot activity.
