Captain cards

SDS can look to how NHL is doing Captains.
In '26, they were for salary cap boosts, mainly but done well.
They're adding coaches in '27 to help with theme teams. -
I use pretty much all Braves players so I love the theme team idea Terry and Greg were the captain cards this year. And they just came out with a 99 overall Terry so that would take away the boost for my other players.

I dont think theyve ever figured out how to use to captains without it being OP when they did the switch hitting captain. After that it seems to be phasing it out. They might as well not have them in the game next year if they plan on just doing the same thing.
Maybe they will throw in some captains at the end of the game cycle like last year, but whats the point of doing it at only the begining at absolute end?

SDS is ruining every aspect of this game. They are spiraling. The entire development, content and gameplay teams should be fired.

Be glad it lasted that long. Many teams had their captain replaced by a better version long ago. I think Matt Carpenter got an upgraded card during the Mural drop and I am pretty sure there were some even earlier

I’m really surprised and extremely frustrated by this. This is the best time of year to run a theme team. It’s not meta either. There’s no excuse for this level of incompetence.

If captains are really being phased out, why? Along with so many other good things that have changed for the worse over the last 10 years in DD...Why? Is it all about the bottom line and captains don't go along with that?

@Ch-76-1908_PSN there is no reason for them to get rid of captains for specific team based. Now those others like speedster and switch hitting sure.

@BLAISEBLAISE_PSN My theory is that streamers complained about them in previous years and they only seem to listen to those losers. This game is somehow getting less fun each year.

@Ch-76-1908_PSN Sure, not everyone will use them, but does having them affect you negatively? Why take away something lots of people enjoy? Why take away something that promotes lineup diversity? I’m tired of using and facing the same team.

@GoozeFn_PSN I never said you can't have them. They butchered it so badly with the switch hitting captain but what's the difference now since we face 7+ switch hitters every game anyway. But alas, sorry for voicing an opinion I guess?
I know this ain't a popular opinion at all but I actually didn't hate the sets and seasons year. Only cuz it forced more lineup diversity.

The only year I bounced off in May and never came back that year. I hated it.
It also didn't help that it was also the year they changed RTTS that year and added archetypes to restrict how you could build your player.

@Ch-76-1908_PSN I wasn’t trying to be rude. No problem with your opinion. Just trying to say that even if you don’t care about using them, it doesn’t negatively affect you. I thought sets and seasons could have been done better. I didn’t dislike it either. I liked the other captains, but I understand why people didn’t like them. There’s just no excuse not to have the team captains relevant throughout the year.

@Dolenz_PSN I understand why people didn’t like that year. It was a hell of a grind. it sort of reminds me of what they’re doing with the free Chase card my legacy stuff. I think we need more optional bigger grinds like this. Especially if they aren’t gonna do more than one TA. This is probably a better way to do that.

All good man. I wholeheartedly agree on TA and the unusable DAY ONE Jolt cards. It's laughable. I'm guessing they'll turn em all into 99's maybe after the regular season when it doesn't matter much.As far as the sets and seasons, I also agree. Decent idea, poor execution! And honestly the only thing I can point a finger at as far as not caring about or missing captains was the stupid Carlos Santana captain card.
