@NotesOfJohn_PSN dont get me started on the events that take literally 8 games to complete and then nothing for a week online besides ranked. Ridiculous. Even last year they were at least doing weekend classic every 2 weeks. Now we only get that once a month. Shameful. They better turn this entire management staff over.

Not great but been happening all year.
Surprised people who bash and hate the game so much keep coming to these forums, engaging with the community, and are continuing to play the game.

I’m grinding #1 Teams to build up stubs this week and picking up every affordable card I can to prepare for the next master collection.

@Teak2112_MLBTS Can you explain if TA was different in the past? I just started playing again after many years. Thanks

21 and 23 had 4 or 5 big drops for TA. Every team would get multiple cards (granted some were henchmen). It was done by division and there were a variety of ways to progress beyond 'hit a lot of HR with this team'. You would choose which cards you wanted first as well, but could eventually get them all

TA would be supported with showdowns, conquests and mini seasons, but they were optional. Just more ways to get progress. You didnt even have to use the division's cards to progress, but it was a lot faster if you did so.

In 24 they had more frequent drops, which led to burn out. But still vastly superior to the current version.

Im not even sure what the point of post-all star content is. Every good card is a copy of eight other cards you already have.

The current power creep is basically designed to retire the game in July. I dont think thats gonna change, because thats what the numbers tell them to do.

@Teak2112_MLBTS Oh wow. I had picked up an idea from some previous comments but that is obviously much different from this year. Think I’ll hit 500 more homers for the Yankees and Giants? Ha ha. Thanks

@Bridge-Piece_XBL do not confuse speaking the truth with bashing. 90 percent of what is being said is true. And im barely playing the game anymore and more than likely will not purchase 27.

I mean let's be real. Why play a game where inside same handed sinkers are almost impossible to hit.

@paparick68_xbl yeah , TA USED to be really fun. I would get to create different theme teams for every MLB club and play with them to earn progress within the TA program.

It was different and fun to do. This “#1 fan” stuff is not doing it. IMO.

Old TA was a program you did. This TA is something that just “happens” as you play. IMO. Big big difference.

Yeah this TA was easy to clear until you reached the 90% complete threshold for every team. Now it’s just hitting career HRs for every franchise and once that’s hit you only get a useless badge. For context, to clear every teams TA 100% you need to hit 12,427 HRs. Again, very little to no incentive.

@NotesOfJohn_PSN This year has largely felt "mailed in", and it shows in the quality of the game. The content most times has felt stale and lacklustre. for a "live service" game, they're not really providing a ton of service, so to speak.

I understand that the model changed a few years ago with the staff turnover, sometimes that's good- but in this case it wasn't. Then we have the team split with the mobile game- which by most reviews I've read has been a disaster- and the core console game. Which was in enough trouble on it's own without having the dev team split.

    @NotesOfJohn_PSN said:

Perhaps they're content with just their diehards, knowing they'll buy the game regardless because they just love baseball, rather than trying to find new players or turn casuals into diehards

I think sadly, this is part of it- optically it looks like they're trying to drive away the NMS crowd and keep the die-hards and their credit cards- the ones they know will spend money.

probably gonna basically punt the rest of the year they already got what they wanted out of this year time and cash. 26 was a very lacklustre product. But they know madden is already out 2k is coming and so is nhl which will take fair chunks of the player base. Especially this year with the turn offs that have transpired this year.

I think this is fairly accurate- we don't even know if there will be a game next year, let alone a game where they'll be competing with GTAO(which should be up and running by then). I think they know that the player base will shrink exponentially given the competition for gamers they'll have and all the negative looks they've had this year.

Still scratching my head at this change...it's complete removal makes no sense to me whatsoever. This year's TA makes no sense and has no incentive to complete. Now I just do it by happenstance.

@rubicante23_PSN its a gameplay issue for sure. It depends on the connection with who you are playing. Yes lefty lefty mainly. Way too many things to cheese in this broken mess of a game

i’d love if on wednesdays they add A show classics to a repeatable diamond quest or conquest. Where throughout the year, every wednesday they’d release 3-5 classic cards, you could earn by playing. Especially since they already have the card art.

They are at the point where every card is about the same. Pretty boring.

26 was a very lacklustre product.

Kind of dumb for a live service game.

Lots of stuff they could do right now but they don't.

^^ when you release a yearly game that heavily pushes microtransactions it will, and absolutely should, have increased scrutiny.

Most people feel the gameplay is worse than it was a few years ago. That alone is pretty tough to accept in a yearly game (instead of paying $60 for a game made from scratch we paid $60 for a game that was mostly already made). Bugs persist year after year that just shouldn't.

Then you have the very justified outrage over the exploit and the lie about holding people accountable for abusing it. Combined with the shrinkage debacle trust is quite low.

Content is always going to have an element of you cant please everyone and to some degree SDS will never win here. They have done midseason adjustments based on our feedback at least, but the content cadence is irregular and the effective removal of TA and captains also leaves people wanting.

Long term grinds have been replaced with 'repeat [censored] to sell duplicate pack cards for stubs'

As an example of disappointment with the direction of the game:

There are many legends with no cards in the mid 90s. There are also plenty of cards that could have gotten flashbacks that haven't (as an example, the Mets have no Alonso, Nimmo, or McNeil card this year...why??) In the past, TA would come with retro all stars. That would have been a good time to give David Wright a mid 90s diamond, or maybe a McNeil or Alonso card.

I do agree about the exploit. I wish people were actually held accountable & the CCs are out of control with what they've been doing / saying.

But I do feel like there's a good amount of unfair SDS bashing that happens as well. Like I'm not 100% happy with the game, haven't loved the content model, lots of glitches & issues... but I just feel like I come here and it's always SDS being attacked.
