I have often been curious about OVR computations and seeing how they work.

So I had ChatGPT (sorry haters) analyze multiple versions of the full roster both before and after updates, along with the updates themselves, and the most current values to see if it could figure out a formula to duplicate the results. It did a pretty bang up job in my opinion.

The first thing this allows me to do is modify rankings to see how a cards OVR would be effected. For example if I left everything as is on the current 92 Ozzie Smith Card and just started bumping his Power then I could get him to 80/80 power and just sneak into the 99 OVR rank

    alt text

It also ranks players to other cards in the same OVR rating, especially useful for 99's where it will also project what rating the card would be at if SDS raised the 99 level cap

Here are your 99 OVR hitter cards ranked (I have only worked on hitters)

    Diamond Ratings Lab

It was a fun diversion for the day and for those who are convinced SDS uses hidden values this program was able to create a formula using only the Attributes shown to us. The formula worked for 100% of the cards currently in the game but Chatgpt is quick to point out that we could not presume 100% accuracy for future cards

Honestly, I've been thinking about posting about Andruw Jones because he's one of the best cards we've ever gotten for free especially in July. By the end of the year and playoffs of course it's different but he's Meta imo. True five tool player given away for free as part of a super easy program to complete. Imo that's super awesome.

Exactly. He's basically PCA but can hit more. It's pretty impressive and it's free. I don't play as high level as you do but I've loved him so far.

What will be interesting is to see how far Pedroia falls throughout the course of this inning program. He basically trails only the HOF players and the Collection rewards now. But we know that the inning bosses get surpassed pretty quickly. Trout is already 15th.

It will also be interesting to see what it projects the overalls will be at the end of the year. How big a difference between Arenado and whoever ends up at the top
