Bots Control the Market Massively Now!
-
I think I'm on board with turfing the app. I saw that as a long time user of the app for flipping. They're wasting resources on these updates every other day when they could be putting them into the game itself.
I also agree the app marketplace needs to be turned off, but the resource allotment for the app is likely not affecting the resource allotment for the game.
-
It’s needs to be removed from the app. I have suspicions if SDS doesn’t remove it at this point that they are basically admitting that they’re a big part of the bot problem and using them as way to limit players from profiting off market place.
-
It seems once they figure out the workaround for every “update” by SDS that they get worse than were before. It’s almost as if the people programming know the end of controlling marketplace is coming so they’re trying maximize what can now.
-
The marketplace is fine just let it go, it will work itself out and policing bots is fine, that wont go away even if its console only, but drastically impacts those that use the app to assist in progression

Market hasn't worked itself out all year. Honestly, it didn't really work itself out last year either. Bots may not go away on console, but I would assume they are much less using console only than the app.

@JDHalfrack_PSN most aren't even running on the app they're on desktops just spamming. And eliminating it will lose player base for sure ... I'm sure thats not the goal of SDS. While yes there are bots theres still tons of stubs to be made this year and the 20 cap is working
-
@greven840_PSN What do you mean most aren't even using the app? I'm pretty confident whatever system the bots use require the app interface, though (or at least the app functionality). Regardless of whether they are running the actual companion app or not.
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN the biggest one needs companion access and they charge $215 for lifetime access to farm stubs
-
@VOReason1976_XBL Exactly. Shut the marketplace down on the app.
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN agreed
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN they are hooking to bluestacks or something that emulates the app and if that changes theyll just run the console interface. Makes no difference. And if you think this is bad look at EA Sports games where 20 cards can be listed and you can buy the most expensive. Thats a perfect way to just transfer stubs to wherever. Eliminates the need for bots but doesnt eliminate the purpose. Still worse. You can outbid a bot, keep going up in 50 or 100s and itll stop bidding. Ive done it hundreds of times and yes it might be slightly more than you wanna pay but usually not more than 1-5k depending on the card. The app was fine without breaking it entirely for everyone actually using it
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN nhl did because of bots. I also think AI has made it even easier to design programs that can do this.
-
@VOReason1976_XBL it lacks depth and is not representative of a successful setup
-
@greven840_PSN does enough though and im sure there are many users.

Holy [censored]. I finally actually just googled it. From an actual bot website:
Important Disclaimers
- Account Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your MLB The Show account. The creator is not liable for any bans, resets, or disabilities that may occur due to the use of this bot. (Personal experience: 6 million+ stubs flipped 24/7 for weeks without issue).
- Lifetime Support Conditions: Lifetime support will cease if Sony San Diego Studio (SDS) discontinues the MLB The Show Companion App or implements CAPTCHA verification within the app.
(emphasis added)Future CAPTCHA bypass methods are uncertain and may not be feasible.
I really think there's only one option here...
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN yeah its very easy to find, I did some digging when I kept hearing more and more about bots.
-

I think there is a big difference. Hooking to Bluestacks and hooking to a console interface are two wildly different concepts. Well, not different concepts, but different setups and conveniences. Not sure you're gonna have $215 bots being sold that require console interface.
There will always be bots as long as there's a marketplace. Hell, even the stock market has bots. But convenience will dictate the number. The app is a MUCH easier convenience than the console. No one will argue that. But that convenience means bots will be way more prevalent.
-
@VOReason1976_XBL definitely doesnt. And does plenty of damage ... I can assure I will cease my annual purchases going forward because it will become impossible to achieve any semblance of a team
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN you can think that all you want but once the easier path is gone the other path gets exploited. Unfortunately thats the society we have to work with. People use software to hit and win and get ratings so they can say how good they are even when not touching their controllers. Your argument is egregious and counterproductive for sales and growth of the game

@greven840_PSN now you know where im at then with no access having done nothing wrong
