@victoryphoenix_PSN nah, miniseasons will never teach you anything about multiplayer...no matter what difficulty you play it on
-
@rubicante23_PSN I don't play online period. My 14 year old self would be the same, there were no online games when I was 14
I stopped playing any multiplayer mode games back in the Quake days due to cheats and I have no desire to start playing them now.Psy
-
@rubicante23_PSN counterpoint - online multiplayer is pay to play so there’s that element now vs. then for people who either can’t fit it in the budget, don’t think the subscription is worth their money, or couldn’t even play this game specifically online if they wanted too (something something T-Mobile)
-
@rubicante23_PSN in as much as playing against stacked teams is how it trains you for multiplayer
-
Here is what I don't get about the "play how you want" complaints. How far should we take it? What if the only way I want to play is to do 1 moment per day. Should I be able to get every reward in the game by playing 1 moment per day?

Offline players in shambles again
-
I don’t normally post about the stream…
But oof. Massive oof. Forcing people online when the servers are already janky? Especially coop??? Are they that ignorant to the state it’s in? It takes forever to find a matchup.
Normally I’d agree with you but at least the cards/packs are sellable.
If you don’t engage in multiplayer then it’s no big loss, just treat it as you do events and just buy the card if you’re purely offline.
To me it’s an interesting program, it tries to please online and offliners / great players.
The miniseasons thing for instance doesn’t penalize you for not playing on HOF - but to great players they’ll eat it up and have a reason to play the miniseasons for more rewards.
Interesting ideas, at least they changed it up
-
I honestly don't get why people are complaining so much over having to play online. AND you can finish those missions with just one game! I don't see how yall are losing your minds over this. It goes both ways...people who only like playing online, have to also play offline in order to get all the rewards for programs. I don't see the big deal...but that's just my opinion
-
As an offline player, I was sort of taking a lot of these death of MLB the Show posts with a grain of salt. Yeah this is one of the worst years in memory for content, but there is always complaining, right? Looking now at the June Countdown requirements I'm now on the bandwagon. I might play this one through the All-Star content as that has always been historically pretty good, but yeah this will be the last year I dump $60 to $70 for this obvious Online shift in the content.
-
They already know that they have driven away casuals and don't care as it is the online players that spend money on microtransactions. This is the new playbook for gaming and especially for modes like DD.
This is factually incorrect. The gacha genre used to be heavily multiplayer, now it is dominated by PvE games. Even EA and 2K have been throwing offline players more bones.
Offline players will spend too. Just not on stubs which have very little value for the money.
-
I don't know what to think anymore but my opinion is not very positive after today.
-
The program - It is a no go for me. I am not even going to attempt it when 3 out of the 5 easy missions require online play and I don't know what the missions are for later, harder levels.
-
The Gauntlet Mini Season - If you don't need Mauer it seemed like a easy pass. There are probably easier ways to earn packs.
The only card I want today is a Rare round in the Showdown pack. As a more casual offline player what are my options? I assume Mauer is No Sell. The Spotlight program Cards are No Sell. Where am I to get any stubs from to keep me working towards getting Berkman or May?
So far those who have it easiest in this years version are
- Exploiters - Since they apparently were not punished
- Flippers/Investors - Assuming they don't get restricted
- Good Online Players - Because online rewards are at least sellable
- Offline players who can compete at the higher difficulties
- (a distant 5th) Offline players who cannot compete on high difficulties.
-
-
Completely ridiculous that the Live Content Team shut out offline player completely from this program! I mean, make the programs harder, add a collection, do something other than making the content sellable.
I've been avid offline show player since 2015, and it feels like they just dont care about ANY of the offline stuff anymore.
This feels like the dumb egg hunt program all over again, except worse, beucase we cant even get past Phase 1!
Be better SDS and Live Content Team.

It is actually very simple. A mission like get 3 k's in multiplayer could also have an alternate say even like 25 k's for offline.

You know what, you're correct there.

This is literally how it used to be ten years or so ago(maybe less)...used to be "Get X amount of K's in Ranked/Online or X amount offline" which was usually double or triple the amount.
-
@iKrazyz_XBL I only complain because I can’t play online. TMobile doesnt support head to head play. It sucks. They should not have any program that certain people just can’t do.

Don't get me wrong, I would be totally fine with that. But what if someone doesn't want to do either of those things?
-
So tired of people saying "just play online, it's easy missions". Because that is entirely not the point. I wouldn't care if they had a mission that said, "have 1 plate appearance in an online mode". The POINT is that they are forcing it. Completely tone-deaf. You force a player to play a way they do not want to, they will move on to other games. Between an XBox account and a gaming laptop with a Steam account, there are way more options for my $70 next year. Just a shame there is no competition for MLB games.

You get upset when people complain, but this is as toxic as any complaint all year. Pure disingenuous nonsense. Come on.
