When are we going to get the actual coaches for each team?
-
One thing that I have noticed is that, not only did they not update the coaching staff for each team, they got rid of easy to replicate mainstays. Why? Is it some kind of licensing issue? Did the person who normally does it every season get fired? Even some of the guys who they put in the game look like aliens. Apparently the Mets are now coached by the green goblin? I know that this isn't that big a deal... but it's always been the little things that made me love this game. I have always loved the subtle attentions to detail that made the game great. Managers and coaches are a major component of road to the show and franchise modes. This needs to get addressed. And please, for the love of the game, please let us edit coaches in future versions of the game.

There is a licensing issue here, yes

Yeah it’s pretty bad. I get it if it’s like 2-3 coaches that are new, but there’s like a dozen at this point. And you’re right, it takes away a ton of immersion in RTTS.

It’s what he said. I saw another post on this. There was a blanket license that expired and now every manager and coach needs to individually agree to be used.

Not a big deal for me. The coach attributes are random and I fired every coach in my Cardinals franchise and hired generated coaches.
Joe Torre was in the game last year and he was C rated as a manager. Most world series wins in 50 years.

Yeah, this is about the long and short of it.
All teams are given 7 (8?) spots for managers/coaches in the MLBPA. These spots were given $50k for the rights to their names/likeness.
About 2 years ago, this stipend was removed, and now a lot of them are opting out, thus making individual deals necessary for everyone who has not joined.

So get the deals done?
This community constantly says stuff like, “it’s a small studio”, “they don’t have that many employees”…
Guys, they produce one of the top selling video games every year. There is absolutely no excuse for them to be skimping out on basic features in their game.
They get the “small studio” excuse for everything when they are really just making an insane amount of profit and not putting much of any of it back into the product. And then this community comes in and defends that.
Just crazy. If you guys want a better game. Stop defending this company when they’re being lazy and cheap.

There is a difference between defending the company and understanding how business works.
No developer is going to sign deals with every single manager/coach/player regardless of the cost, just because players want them to. They aren't going to send out employees and equipment to every team to face scan every player. They aren't going to be able to hire a massive QA staff to ensure there isn't any bugs in the game.
The 'excuse', as you call it, is finding a happy medium between costs, profits and expectations. They don't make games out of the goodness of their hearts. They want to make money.
If you can't abide by this fact, you should absolutely not spend your money on this game and use it on something else. That is how capitalism works. That is the risk the company is willing to take.
