@inLU5TweTRU5T_XBL yeah, I’m still really confused on why they defend this franchise. I prove everything they say wrong and they still use the same excuses…. It’s 2026. Use AI if you’re not gonna put any effort into using scans

These XBox people really make me wish EA would make a game so this game could go back to PlayStation only. The quality slipped massively starting in 2021 and will definitely skyrocket once they have a reason to dump Microsoft and Nintendo.

@PAinPA_PSN For the record, I have nothing against people wanting to protect their rights. I just don't think that is what is going on here. I don't know the details of the contract, but given the vast majority of the league has signed and it is probably pretty cookie-cutter, I find it extremely hard to believe that the lack of scans is because of rights concerns. If it was isolated cases, that would be one thing, but its a common thread of prospects and young players. SDS used to do a better job with this, which indicates to me that they have the capability, they are just not prioritizing it anymore

@SavageSteve74_PSN I have no problem at all with players understanding their worth or protecting their rights and I'm sure it could be more complicated than it seems since idk the details of these contracts. However, given that most of the league is scanned or gets scanned eventually, I am very doubtful that the lack of scans is due to rights concerns unless specific players hold out for a while like Trout. The contract is likely pretty standard for everyone and doesn't require a lot of negotiation. In my opinion, they clearly just don't prioritize young players like they used to. Also, I believe NIL contracts don't apply to MiLB or MLB players since they are professional athletes now, not college athletes.

@fubar2k7_PSN how are you on here mad at people complaining about the quality of face scans decreasing and then later just basically agree that the quality has slipped a ton while complaining about the people who said that originally lmao

When it comes to this topic I think there’s a lot of confusion. Personally, all I ask for is that we be given all the face scanned players they have by the first update. If players haven’t been scanned or don’t want to, that’s fine and there’s nothing SDS can do about it. But it is a little strange to be told these scans are done at spring training and then to see new players being added as late as August. If a player actually went in and got scanned that late and that’s why he wasn’t added until then, fine. Absolutely no issue. But if they have the scans since Spring Training and simply seem to hold onto them to release throughout the season as “new content”, then that’s a problem. As was said above, people have to start their franchises over every time if they want these new players and that really sucks.

To summarize, all I ask for is all the scans they have at the first update. We can download models from the vault of players who don’t have or don’t want them. It’s that simple for me.

Mike Trout was in the league for 7 years and was a 2 time MVP before he let them use his real image. They don’t have the right to scan you until you let them scan you.

This is a common response to these type of topics. However, of the plethora of players that were listed above, I would posit that less than 1% of them fall into the 'I don't want to' category.

I'd be quite certain the rest of them fall into the 'haven't got around to it' zone.

Either player apathy or SDS just not making an effort.

Forgive me if I dont accept this opinion as gospel.
Until I hear it directly from a player ''I want to be in the game but Sony is blackballing me.'' I'm going with these players are too busy to waste time on a video game so Joe Blow can have a more accurate depiction.

Faces not being scanned because players aren’t getting them done has nothing to do with gameplay quality. The developers of the game need to focus on the game and the players who want to have faces in the game can go to the game when in San Diego, LA or Anaheim and get scanned.

Exactly 100% … the opposite. You’ve been told time and time again why and you refuse to accept it.

    It’s 2026.

Correct. It’s not 1995. It’s no longer the Wild West when it comes to video game copyright law. There are rules now.

@Graeves-_PSN it's definitely not gospel, but it's hard for me to buy that MLB players have more time than minor leaguers / care more about Joe Blow lol I agree they probably don't care, but all athletes in major professional sports leagues do this. We're not asking SDS to do something crazy

Yes, you’re asking them to violate the law and open themselves up to multi-million dollar lawsuits.

    They’re not going to.

@fubar2k7_PSN if that is your opinion that is cool, but most people would say what the game looks like is a big part of gameplay quality, especially a game that is largely about the players. I'm with you I want other parts of the gameplay to be better too. I'm just saying I think this aspect of the game is important to a lot of people and it seems like it is being neglected, so it makes sense for people to go after SDS about it. Just wondering, what parts of the gameplay do you think should be better?

@SaveFarris_PSN whoa now I didn't say they should illegally use people's image without their consent lmaooo I'm saying they should do their job and do better at spring training or spring breakout to scan players they haven't yet. This is simple game maintenance that every sports game does. I don't see what is crazy about this

Wow, who would have thought that face scans was such a hot button issue? 😆

    • Face scans matter to some people because the CPU generated faces are a hot mess. If they looked better, they wouldn't be so off-putting and Joe Blow wouldn't complain so much.

    • MLB players have a lot less time during the regular season than they do in spring training. It's not as easy as popping on down to SDS and getting a face scan done in between the games, warmups, eating, sleeping and flying out of town. It could be apathy, it could be just no time. Who knows?

    • Face scan equipment is cumbersome and costly. Employees can't just grab some stuff and head to New York to scan George Lombard because you think he's the next big thing.

    • Finally, yes, SDS can not just use a player's face without consent. They still have to have the player submit to an actual scan to get the job done. There may be only a few players who actively refuse to have it done, but even the ones who would do it and just haven't done it, still need it done.

Now, can't we all just get along. 😏

@StinkyMcPooter_XBL thank you for laying that out Mr. McPooter. All those things are true. I still wish they would do a better job during spring training, but that is just my opinion. There's basically no reason for me to get the game besides the new players/face scans since I'm a franchise guy and they don't really change the mode, so it sucks when they don't add the big new guys. But that is my beef with SDS and not with the people on this thread. I offer an olive branch to everyone here lol

    @inLU5TweTRU5T_XBL

I'm totally with you. I don't play DD. Only Franchise/RTTS. Looking at the horrible CPU generated faces is sometime disturbing.

TBH, there are more than a handful of players I refuse to have on my team because their face is messed up.

But, I also understand the problems with getting all the scans. Could SDS make a more concerted effort to get them done in spring training? Sure, but we don't know if it's them or players being lazy/difficult. 🤷

If you look at the number of players The Show has scanned versus the number NBA2k or EA NHL hss scanned, you'll find The Show has far mor scanned than those two. The only reason Madden has more scanned is because MLB has 26 man rosters versus NFL having 53 or whatever it is nowadays. Which ironically is why The Show has more than NBA2k or EA NHL.

Which is why its ridiculous to compare how many players in The Show are scanned versus 2K and Madden

And then to compare NFL minor league players scanned ver MiLB players scanned is a non starter because as far as I know Madden has no minor league players to scan as the NFL's feeder league is CFB.

I wouldn't even compare NBA2k scanned minor leaguer to The Show because The Show still has more scanned major leaguers than 2k NBA and G League combined.

Comparing all the different sports games against eadh other is really rather silly and we might as well compare apples to pencils..
