SDS cant just force players to get a face scan the players have to say yes so there's it broken down for you.

@coachwillknows
Ever since O'Bannon vs. NCAA, it's been illegal to use a players name, image, and likeness without express written consent.
The players the original poster names haven't given it, so there's nothing SDS can do without violating the law.

I have to disagree with y'all.
It has little to nothing to do with 'player consent'. Although it's absolutely true that players must give consent to use their likeness, it's not the reason for the lack of face scans.
#1 SDS is not constantly sending out employees and equipment to ball parks to get the scans of all the missing players. I'm certain it's too costly and time consuming to do so. Therefore, scans are done in set locations. Which leads to ...
#2 Player apathy. They just don't care enough to make a special trip to go to SDS and get the scan done. If they were there, at the park or somewhere convenient to do so, I'm sure they would. But they aren't going to go out of their way for a vidya game.

Good chance the only time outside ST they get players scanned is when they play games at San Diego.
My point above about Mike Trout was it doesn’t matter how good someone is suppose to be. They aren’t now what Mike Trout was and they couldn’t get him in the game. It matters if someone wants to be scanned. You struck out swinging on 1 pitch.

You're conflating a player 'wants' to be scanned with a player is 'willing to be scanned'.
I'm sure there are the odd few players who, for whatever reason, do not want to have their face scanned.
The rest fall into the 'I'm willing to have my face scanned but I'm not going to go out of my way to do it'. These players make up the vast majority.

@stinkymcpooter_xbl Do you think scanning players faces is done with an iPhone or something? They showed the massive amount of equipment involved on one of their streams. They’re not lugging that around the country. Every NL team visits San Diego and every AL team is either in San Diego or a couple hours away in LA.
If you think they use the same thing we use for Road to the Show face scan they don’t. Mine looks more like Babe Ruth and if that was the case they can just do it and submit it themselves. Which means they definitely don’t wanna be in the game.

@fubar2k7_psn And also Anaheim.

I get asking for face scans is basically talking to a wall but the people defending SDS are completely letting them off the hook. The idea that the players who don’t have face scans is because they are refusing consent is so crazy lol 90% of the league has face scans, so it just happens to be that just prospects and new players are choosing not to? If a player like Trout chooses not to for years, that makes sense. This is a structural issue for The Show where they are failing and not choosing not to prioritize. Also, I get it’s not easy to get the equipment around the country but most of the players mentioned in the first post were at spring training at least this year and last, which is when everyone says they are scanning. Other games like FIFA have to travel across continents to get scans and they have way more players scanned. So even at the one time of year when they’re doing scanning, they’re not even taking advantage of the full opportunity. This issue has been getting worse the last few years. I don’t think it is unreasonable to hold them to their own standard and call out SDS for putting out a continually worse product in this regard. I hope people keep asking for face scans lol bad products should be criticized. It doesn’t matter if it’s not easy. This is their job lol

Disney used face scans and old footage to digitally put Peter Cushing in Rogue One( Governor Tarkin) many years after his death.that was released in 2016, Disney is still facing multiple lawsuits over that 10 years later.
You think the players haven't heard about that? You think they aren't concerned about something similar happening to them? The actors guild strike that lasted for many months was dealing with this issue of face scans and AI recreations of the actors.
There are many very good reasons why the players might not want their face scanned. -
Prospects and new players know exactly what their image is worth and have had NIL contracts for 5ish years now. Many may already have NIL contracts that preclude them from allowing it in other products. It’s a bit more complicated than just scanning them.
