They’re inching closer and closer to the EA and 2k models on a year by year basis. There is a reason I refuse to buy those titles and await their game pass arrivals now.

I mentioned that, given the aggressive monetization and shift towards the hardcore players that live on the game, play competitive online, or spend thousands of dollars. The casual gamer is being left behind and it wasn’t this way just a few years ago.
Slower progress is one thing but no progress and prices out of reach with no chance unless you pull Ohtani and/or Judge is ridiculous. People will just walk away without a major adjustment and a lot already have. That’s why the game is already on clearance just over a month in.
After the money at launch from all the whales I’m guessing money has stopped coming in drastically as people have done the mental math and made the decision to either step back or outright walk away.
Not asking for easy but needs to be doable or it’s game over.

The problem is the live series cards other than a few are just binder fodder. The fact that two cards add up to 1.1 million in stubs and then are never even used (judge, Ohtani) means that the entire live series needs a serious overhaul to make them relevant. They need more roster updates or serious upgrades to all live series players - bronzes to silver silver to gold etc because we all have a thousand cards just not even used

@JenkinMeyer_PSN it really would be way more entertaining if there were a ton of 30k and 50k cards, instead of two giant ones

Absolutely. They need to salary cap (stub cap) themselves. Why are there thousands of useless cards in a game and why are servers tracking them. Make those cards relevant. Give us better captains that say, boost bronze players or below +25. Or something like that.
Otherwise everything we get in any pack is just useless essentially. Why have useless stuff in a game.

News flash: It is now $50 on the Playstation store.

Agree. It’s ridiculous that Ohtani and Judge are that much compared to the rest of live series. By design they are artificially scarce to drive up prices and casting sales. Most live series cards are already outclassed by other content and soon they all will be.
No way live series should be anywhere near this expensive even with the collection rewards. If all live series were capped at 50-100K stubs the game would be radically different. Imagine being able to actually pull live series diamonds that weren’t 85s on a regular basis.

- Offline content sucks
- More bugs than a cheap rainforest hotel
- Gameplay isn't the best state its been in (I don't think its really any different than last year, but its certainly not as good as it was even as recently as 23)
Monetization is a distant 4th to those to me, but packs, including weekly chase packs, absolutely are a problem.
I do think its a little disingenuous to say its moving closer to 2K and EA though. The Show is on a linear curve with a moderate slope. EA/2K are on an exponential curve. The gap between SDS and those guys actually widens each year, not narrows.

In record time. After the whale splurge at launch the stub sales are drying up so gotta hook some new players.
Game is feeling more like a gambling simulator than a baseball game at this point. Would love to either have a baseball game back or at least make cards more attainable in game grinding vs purchasing.
At the end of the day all these virtual cards are worthless in less than a year. Make them more attainable and the player base will actually grow.
-
Just fix bugs and communicate with the community on what you are fixing would be a strong first step. Why are server outages / the show related things on X, on not on the show.com?
Why are there so many bugs that haven’t been fixed in years months days not squelched immediately? Why can you still go into a ranked game and not see anyones record? These are all such easy and weird things for them to never address. It’s almost as if the studio is a power point presentation they pre-programmed and dropped the mouse (or fired/laid off) it’s a mindless automaton running the game

To play devil's advocate here, why would Sony or SDS care about growing the player base vs growing profit? When it comes to monetization player happiness vs profit are pretty closely to directly opposed to each other.
The best way to grow the player base while also increasing profit is to fix the bugs and tighten up the gameplay.

Because when you make good product you make even more money and attract more people to your product.
I blame Sony for siding with Topps perhaps. Why are we hamstrung by Topps? They were always the worst designed cards, even now they design lateral cards which is the dumbest [censored] ever. Have to tilt your head sideways to read it instead of it laying horizontally on my screen. What dickhead wants a sideways card for their binder

That is absolutely false.
If you make your product more F2P friendly you will lose money almost 100% of the time even if you double your player base. There is a reason why 2K and Madden keep going in the direction they do. And then there is the entire gacha genre.

Absolutely false? Dude do you forget about initial price point? Money in initial sales?
I don’t want to make Sony money I want to play baseball. I don’t want to navigate menus with lag once I’ve paid for it.
Don’t defend their gacha BS -
Specialty packs need to better, and there needs more of them, JR program all those cards in the pack and you got only 1 pack(2 if you do MP) leaves too many you have to go to the bot ridden market for.
WBC and NT were a little better, but the packs themselves need to be better too, so agonizing when you've gone through and gotten the 150 hits only to pull garcia for the 6th time -
Hopefully everyone fills this out. Whether or not SDS changes anything who knows. I did let them know a lot of what’s not good in this game.
