What happened to offline content?

@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN yeah, we know a ton of people dont play with a variety of cards like that. I think it should be strongly incentivized, but then you're gonna get a bunch of people yelling "stop making me play with cards I dont like!"

I play ranked coop with my friend for the MP stuff...cringe when I have to get into events to complete things because as soon as I win three or four games I run into the guys who have to WAAC and I suddenly can't hit or I'll give up a suspect 10 spot. I'll rarely touch conquest because it feels...off? It plays entirely different from other modes. I grind offline primarily for the XP path.
I miss the days of just grinding vs the Yetis.

I don't have any evidence to back it up but I think what happened is they changed Conquest from the "casual" setting to "simulation" which plays a lot more brutally. Mini seasons and versus CPU are on the "casual" setting so you can hit HRs with guys even in the 60s in power. In Conquest it seems like the only way to get a HR is with a 100+ power guy, a perfect/perfect pull shot. Everything else dies at the warning track.

I wouldn’t mind them updating the Jolt cards mid season with a roster update to make them viable again at that point. Maybe make them 95s if they aren’t releasing anything else.

Between lack of content, crappy rewards and terrible XP the offline grind is just about dead. Kinda wishing I hadn’t bought the game this year. I feel like SDS doesn’t want me as a consumer so why am I still here? Not sure.

@PAinPA_PSN its a good idea until you realize that it will just be another lame program with most of the cards being in packs.

@LHUBison58_XBL They should be updating them every inning or 2. Theme teams are dead and the captain boosts aren’t even working.

You know, I have an hour or so before I start thinking about dinner and I could definitely play but Vampire Crawlers just released on Game Pass today so I think I should find out if a dungeon crawling card based version of the game with retro graphics can be anywhere near as addictive as the regular Vampire Survivors

XP is nearly impossible to complete for the average gamer that has maybe a couple hours to play the game. Everything they do now seems to be geared towards spending stubs or money to complete collections and paths. Can we please have another major MLB licensed game to compete with this one so some real improvements can be made? The direction of this game turned to very negative way about 3 years ago. I went against my first thoughts and bought the game again, but I absolutely won’t waste another dime on stub purchases ever again. I’ve spent so much money on this game over the years. I used to always complete the Live series within the first 2-4 weeks. Ain’t falling in that money trap again for a game that cares less and less about its player base. It’s disappointing. Someone in the lead of this game series has made some detrimental decisions the last 3 years.

That's comparing apples and oranges. Yes Rookie is harder this year, so less Ks per game for pitching and less runs scored overall in Rookie games. But that doesnt make the complete lack of length or depth of offline content any better. They aren't appeasing anyone, all they are going to see is a falloff of player count as the year progresses due to nothing to do, and less renewals next year as it feels like the MLB the Show franchise is on a severe down trend.
No rookie isnt harder this year. You're just playing with cards that arent 110+ across the board.

Agree with all of this. For as bad as 2022 was 2023 was the first year where aggressive monetization began. I believe this was the year people in charge came from the other sports franchises and realized they could ramp up cards in packs to make more money.
Ultimately they don’t care if they lose players in droves as long as those that stay spend more money. It’s clear SDS would rather have a hundred players that spend thousands vs a thousand players that spend a hundred. It’s become a niche game that’s a shell of its former self.

@MetalDoc17_XBL agreed. Funny, I started saying this last year. They must have turned over to new staff or something a few years ago.
