If they don’t fix the balls on the black not being called strikes then what’s the point.

Everyone is just (rightfully so) taking every pitch that’s even close and getting rewarded for it. Add in the foul balls on early swings and low control on pitchers it’s such a laughable experience on all star difficulty.

Next game keep track of how many balls just barely scrape the strike zone. If they made the strike zone exactly as stated in the rulebook, online would be hell, any experienced player would tell you that. What we should have though, is actually consistent umpires, theres just too many balls 3/4 in the zone being called balls and then next pitch one 3/4 out of the zone gets called a strike.

it's probably warranted for now, while hitting is more dominant than pitching. but it would really make things tough when facing the John dons and Randys of the world.

Online I would like to see any ball touching the black as a strike. The balls on these along with the foul balls make the game less enjoyable. I have also fouled off plenty of pitches 2 feet off the strike zone that I had zero business fouling off which should have been a strike. I would like to see all these addressed.

Calling every ball that touches the box a strike would kill this game.

@bjd10048_MLBTS because it will kill the game to get everything on the line called a strike. Why would you want that?

They aren’t even following the rules of baseball for the current strike zone. If you notice your box, it’s wider than the plate, that’s not the real life strike zone.

@SavageSteve74_PSN true - but I think they adjust for this cause the game’s standard for strike is half the ball. the problem is that in contexts where you can’t challenge calls even this standard isn’t always reflected. which is to say for everything on the line to be a strike they would have to shrink the box

ngl I actually kinda wanna see that now - they shrink the box to the standard MLB TV K-zone but anything that touches it is a strike - zone would be about the same as in the game currently but it would have a different feel to it that might be fun

With how many online games are nothing but slugfests? I wouldn't mind having the zone correctly expanded to include those on the black. That's baseball now

Lol no hitting is not, hitting is literally just as broken as pitching. It's worse then ever where 1 player will be allowed to swing at 10 pitches and foul off 7 even if they aren't near the strike zone. Then the complete lie about sliders shrinkage being removed from online play, it's absurd to try and claim this. I've seen good squared up be anywhere from 74 ev pop up/grounder to 99 ev no doubt. Perfect swings are about a 60% shot at being a line out or hitting the SDS invisible wall and do a 90 degree turn down at the wall.

How does a guy is fouling off 10 pitches outside the zone and then hitting homerun equate to pitching being easier than hitting? Y’all just type words and forget to read them.

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS It would not kill the game. This game needs a defined strike zone for online play. You could shrink the box and make everything touching it a strike.

With good pitchers later in the year and even right now, it is incredibly easy to dot the very corners of the zone. Next time you are in an online game, count how many times a ball scrapes some part of the by the book strike zone. I guarantee that if you are facing an opponent who knows how to pitch, over half of the called balls would be almost unhittable superdots. This game should favor offense, games are more fun that way and the better player wins more of the time. If SDS decides to go full by the book strike zone, basically every game would be a pitchers duel, and this problem would be magnified even more once we get to the endgame where guys have 120+ control

@GoozeFn_PSN how would it not? The game needs to cater more towards offense for it to be enjoyable. Any ball can barely scrape the zone almost every pitch you throw. People already love to spam sinker fastball cutter inside. It’s the only part of the game that really shouldn’t be completely realistic. Later in game the pitchers only get better.

My suggestion is get rid of the box on your screen you know the strike zone by now. And actually give us abs in ranked. Let the real hawk eyes work the zone. Challenge it if you must. We can all see the strike zone in our heads

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS you know that if they shrank the zone like they’re saying the pitches that clip it wouldn’t be any farther away than they already are, right?

@BrthrDarkness_PSN I would def struggle at first but I don’t hate this tbh. It is supposed to be competitive, after all.
