Mlb the Show 26 does not support 4k at 120hz

Can anyone else confirm this? Based on my research and understanding. 4k caps out at 60hz, meaning the game cannot support 4k at a 120. Even though the xbox is set to a 120hz. Gaming monitor or not. I believe the best players are playing at 1080p or 1440p to get the true 120hz 120 fps. And they wont tell you that. Speed and input is everything when playing online. For anyone struggling to hit online. This is theeeee most important topic. Period this needs to be discussed. I bet you anything i get no answers from any top players on this.

Well, I just tried playing at 1440p… have scored 8 runs in 10 at bats, both opponents quit in the first inning.
Maybe I was shooting myself in the foot all this time and still hitting above .350…

@iBonafideScrub__PSN you're welcome I am also noticing the difference. Sure the game doesnt look as good. But performance over everything when playing online! Because the input matters if you are truly playing at a 120hz your swing timing should be so much better. There is alot to this that people are not understanding. I truly believe this is what the top players are not telling us. They think they are slick.

Just like in shooter games, the lower the resolution the better performance.
I did 1440p, I don’t think my eyes would adapt to 1080p.

Genuine thanks to both of you. I will be testing this out tomorrow. I’m spending a half hour a day working on BP on legend and still struggle to hit online in all star. This year has been my worst hitting year in a long time. Hopefully this helps a bit.

No, kinda surprised this is a shock to a bunch of people. Any game that requires fast reaction times, 4K is awful. I’ve always turned 4k off and use 1440 on PS5. Also, make sure HDR is off.

@SavageSteve74_PSN right 1440p. Turn hdr off. The picture quality without 4k and hdr is not as good. But thats the only way to be competitive

@LHUBison58_XBL thats because all star online is equivalent to legend in batting practice. You cannot replicate online play with batting practice offline vs the cpu. Get into events and play 50 straight games online vs real people if you want real practice. Event games do not go against your record. Focus on getting your online timing down. Stop playing against the cpu as much. Use the cpu to finish a program and get out of it fast! Dont sit there and play mini seasons over and over. The more you play vs the cpu the worse your game will get going back to online

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL I’ve been doing this nbp routine for years. It has always helped in the past. I know it isn’t exactly the same but I get my timing locked in quicker that way. This year it doesn’t seem to help.

How about performance mode on PS5? Would that work? From my understanding that mlb the show doesn't allow you to choose performance mode over resolution mode. That you are supposed to leave it on automatic and leave it up to the game to tell the console where it should be. Any thoughts on this?

@wdc1961_PSN yes if playing online. If playing offline vs the cpu you dont need to mess with it. This games servers really struggle online because they have not upgraded to next Gen yet. Hence why some people are consistently late, because of input lag etc. So you need to bring down the resolution so that online works properly. Im hearing 1080p with hdr maybe the way to go. Im going to try that next. Because you cannot get hdr with 1440p for some reason. This game wont allow it.

@LHUBison58_XBL nice man! What settings did you change it to? 1080p or 1440p? Yep I had to look into this. Because it just seemed like alot of people I have been playing so far this year hit with such ease..and I was struggling, there had to be something i was missing. Then you see these u tubers hitting like its nothing also. They cannot be that much better than everyone else that easily.

The monitor I have at home from work only goes to 1080p. I’m shopping today for a dedicated gaming monitor. I usually only bust out the monitor in the week before Weekend classic and play on my tv otherwise.
