The mouth pieces on the streams always say the game is play your way, If you don’t like a certain mode then you can earn cards a different way…The problem is this is simply not true. If you want to actually complete collections to get the players that will be required on all collections going forward then it is REQUIRED you play the modes they hide the no sell cards behind. And that’s their right to do so, But don’t act like it’s not mandatory.

You are 100 percent correct. I hate playing offline. Im an online player. Yet im being forced to play offline 80 percent of the time right now to obtain cards. Between, moments, conquest, mini seasons, im about to throw my xbox in the trash. All the offline play does is make you are worse player.

I think the idea is that you can build teams of equal strength whether you prefer online or offline gaming. If you’re the type of person that wants to collect EVERY card, then yeah, you have to play every mode. As the game goes on, though, and there are red 99s everywhere, getting all of these 90 overalls will seem like a waste of time.

I agree with some of the commenters, though: I HATE off line play. And I can’t believe “Moments” are still a thing. I loathe moments.

I think the community needs to cool their jets on taking "play how you want" literally. Old programs "forced" people to do moments or missions. Now they give you multiple paths to do them. You can do strictly missions...you can do a few moments and a few missions. You can do collections. You can earn cards in mini seasons or conquests or packs or buy them on the market.

I was someone who loathed moments as well. Until last year. The update where you can stop a moment at any point and restart was a game changer for me.

Now, if SDs would only program Moments so that perfect/perfect was an automatic homer, I’d be all the way there with them! 😀

This is absolutely not true. They always make the offline mode cards worse than online cards that take a similar amount of time (I don't have any issue with the WS cards being a bit better..those should be, and i can buy them anyway)

And now they are locking cards behind a difficulty, which is just pure anti-player nonsense (I have Nimmo already and often play on all star, but its a terrible trend)

The extra pxp is a great incentive to play on higher difficulties. Forcing players to do it who want cards is taking DD in the wrong direction. They aren't becoming 2K with monetization but 2K has a habit of forced difficulty (especially with their trash WWE game) in offline play.

When I want difficulty I can go to FromSoft, or Silksong, or simply play on a higher difficulty. Or go do savage raiding in FFXIV. Sports games tend to be my relaxation.

@maurice91932_PSN well if you want to have a competitive team. You have no choice but to offline grind. And deal with pitchers on rookie doting every corner too. Which makes the offline grind that i do not want to do even more tedious. Smh

I'd settle for them taking out the runner on first,in a homer moment when you are up by a lot or losing by a lot and this 50 ish speed guy absolutely has to steal second for no reason or point.

I hate CPU baserunners so much in moments. Let me control them.

Ive also been screwed by the official scorer a few times where i would have a double without a throw home but got denied

I can't stand on-line(multiplayer) modes and it's the same for offline players, they are trying to force everyone to play different modes. They neutered mini-seasons and made the rewards nothing compared to where they were last year. SDS tries to force the same experiencxe for everyone. They gutted franchise mode and now try and force everyone to play multiplayer. No thank you. Make all cards buyable I think would be the optimal solution. I actually really enjoy Conquest and Miniseason. And quite enjoy the moments a lot.

    Uh...is this a 2025 thread?

Mini seasons are the best month 1 repeatable content in years, if not ever.

I think the bottom line is they want game players to engage in their existing game modes - which people don’t really want to do.

I mean conquest, while a cool idea is Risk, but shittier because the AI doesn’t engage you and it’s just a waste of your time to simulate games. Cool idea, crappy execution.

Diamond quest is a half-assed version of any rogue-like. Risk reward, except there’s not much reward. Good idea crappy execution.

WBC - who fans have been clamoring for - they have a huge roster of players and DD cards but for some reason they force non DD players to engage in WBC through DD and not in the game itself. Once again. Poor execution.

If I were MLB I’d pull Sony’s license because all in all it makes MLB look bad.

Which they already do well enough on their own.

Well, they don't say "play your own way... And get every card in the game". You can certainly get good enough cards to beat the CPU offline playing any mode.

    @jeffstified_XBL

Play your own way - in all of these game modes you loathe. So at the end of the day, why are there game modes that exist that people loathe and treat like a chore?

They should have maybe at Dev level maybe axed those modes, because they’re terrible 5 years ago and still terrible.

It’s like they’ve hung onto bad ideas so long they’re pot committed, sunken cost, for us -
    Not them.

Just to try to play a reasonable 9 inning game of baseball.

Spring Break: 16 cards to complete the set. Doing the program gets you 7, where's the other 9? Conquest...only Conquest, which has become one of the worst offline modes due to hitting nerfed to the point it's registered with the Geneva Convention as a torture device. When pitching AI batters endlessly foul balls off until your entire pitching staff is dead from exhaustion. I'd literally rather play online and hope I somehow find someone worse than me to play against or do 20 Father Son HR momemts than play another Conquest game again.

Because I like baseball same reason you’re here.

They just need to do a better job of making baseball, baseball.
