Lack of big legends
-
If you look at Pujols and Gil Hodges, those cards look very similar. Pujols is almost certainly the NL collection, and the MLB collection is either gonna be Tulo or some other big legend they havent revealed yet. Gomes said in his video that there are still some legends he cant talk about
-
I more frightened now who we are losing.
Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Honus Wagner I’m hoping all stay. Still holding out hope for Ty Cobb.
-
I think ppl would be unhappy due to he fact that Pulos was just in the game a few years ago
He’s not really that “new” to be the MLb collection reward
-
We still haven’t seen Tulo. To me, that means he’s either the NL West or complete collection reward.
Same with Felix. He’s either AL West or AL.
-
@GodShammGod2_XBL yeah he’s not that far out of the league which is a fair point I feel like the best option is tulo tbh unless there’s a bigger legend we don’t know about yet like a A-rod ichiro Barry type legend I have a strong feeling Pujols is nl as somebody said him and Hodges from last years stats are extremely similar

Dont rule out these guys getting TA golds and then being the first collection reward, Tulo especially.
I expect Felix to be the AL collection, but I also think maybe they would have revealed it if he was since they put Pujols out so early.

@Teak2112_MLBTS Good points.

I also think they would've revealed him as a collection reward since they revealed Pujols.
Tulo would be a very solid addition for sure just not sure if he qualifies on that "big collection reward" level.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN Not in terms of name value, but he could get a great card that’s worthy.

More of a reason to just give the people A-Rod already.

Another guy who eclipses Tulo in name value is Ichiro, but I'm afraid he would also receive backlash as the big reward due to his low power.

People keep mentioning that they think Posey will be back this year. I could see it being him maybe with his MVP card. Although as a Cardinals fan I never rooted for him because of all the better catcher debate nonsense (Posey/Molina) I respect how good he was in his prime.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN He has the name value, but he would be at best a Jeter type of reward. Not terrible, but not ideal. I’m still hoping for Arod or Cobb.

I think the only guys mentioned in game from colleges that have yet to be revealed are Abbot and Posey. Its why Carpenter is back already. Abbot seems like it would be a lot of extra work on SDS's part though.

I am not sure how Cobb rates. He certainly has a name value but who will go out of their way to earn a CF who averaged 6 home runs every 162 games.
-
@Dolenz_PSN True Cobb would be an Ichiro type.

And it's not even that Carlos Beltran is some kind of generational household name, but his skill set simply translates very well to being a meta card in The Show that can justify being the big collection reward. He checks pretty much all the boxes.
Have they ever announced the main collection card prior to the live launch stream? I can't recall.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN I don’t think so.

I think people are treating the Live Series collection like they do the end of year 99s.
Some people expect every new 99 released to be the new meta card and if it's not then it is dismissed as worthless.
Beltran's well rounded attributes and the fact that he was a switch hitter set the bar high. Expecting new collection cards to be as good or better is a trap.
-
@Dolenz_PSN It’s the most expensive card in the game for the entire cycle and it’s not close. It drives stub buying. It does need to be a great card that’s similarly good.

That Pujols card with barely 100 pop on each side will be immediately pushed aside as soon as the first flashback or 90 overall Topps Now Carlos Santana drops. That's just how the game works and how oversaturated 1B is when it comes to one-dimensional power bats.
