Lack of big legends
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN I don’t think they could give him more than 80ish power. He never surpassed 15 home runs. The Jeter reward only had 90 power and he hit significantly more HR and had a season of 24 HR. Tony Gwynn usually gets 80-90 and he had a year of 17 HR in ~100 less AB than Ichiro’s 15 season. I just don’t see them making it good enough to justify the whole collection.
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS That would make sense.
-
I have a sneaking suspicion that with the wbc and international players there saving a big international name to be collection reward my guess is ichiro tbh
Pujols is MLB
Felix will be AL
Tulo will be NLIchiro is a Clemente/UNIT/Pedro/Ortiz/Pujols level legend who would be the main system-seller for that given year. And we already have one of those.
-
Its gonna be hilarious when the NL west collection turns out to be a 93 Fernando lol
-
@Dolenz_PSN No, it’s a fair assessment. I’m not saying tell the status of an individual they did not obtain, but should explain across thousands of possibilities why no one was added. There have been a lot of expressed interest in more new legends and even regional legends known mostly to one team’s fans. These are clearly easier players to obtain rights to use and also infuse some freshness to a new season. With such a wide range of players to look into, it would absolutely be not listening to a fanbase to not bring some of those new faces into the game. That was written 2-3 days ago and spot-on, since yesterday they did announce exactly that. I commend SDS for assembling a number of new legends across different eras. They’ve teased a big announcement today and I’ll be hoping for a new, major early legend.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN I feel if that Pujols card is mlb collection a lot of people will be very unhappy I would not be one of them as it is a exciting new legend but people will not be happy at the fact that he’s a first basemen and his power stats are not as high as I would think for mlb collection reward I also can’t see them leaking the league collection reward that easy but idk we will have to wait and see
-
and his power stats are not as high
I see that. Keep in mind that the Carlos Beltran LS collection reward was at 100/103 for power in 2025. In the first couple of months, Pujols will be one of the best cards in the game.
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL yeah I do agree and Personally I would be excited about Pujols but Beltrán was also a switch hitting center fielder with max defence and ability to steal bases there will definitely be part of the community that is upset but there’s also people that just complain about everything lol
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL because there is that select part of the community that believes every card has to be a 5 tool player to be “good enough”
-
I also can’t see them leaking the league collection reward that easy but idk we will have to wait and see
I can.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN yes that’s fair only thing I was thinking is it could go AL/NL/entire league but he very easily could be entire league
-
@SaveFarris_PSN Tulo would make more sense as the MLB reward than Pujols.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN It’s gotta be at least a 95, I'm hoping 96.
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN It would be the worst MLB collection we’ve ever had. While he’s new as a legend, he was just in the game a few years ago.
-
Also my apologies if I’m being annoying or in denial I just made my forums account today and looked forward to talking the show with people lol
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL Pujols lacks positional value, speed and he’s not a switch hitter. There is a massive difference in the quality of those cards.
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL because there is that select part of the community that believes every card has to be a 5 tool player to be “good enough”
That’s not at all what people are saying. I’m saying that the most expensive card in the game has to check several boxes. Pujols doesn’t.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN yes and as u said he lacks positional value if the collection reward is not one of CF/SS/C people will be not happy
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN Not necessarily. Chipper was a great collection reward because he checked other boxes. You just can’t have the most expensive card in the game be a corner position, slow, not a switch hitter and frankly disappointing hitting stats. Babe was a corner player, slowish, not a returning legend, but he was a 2 way play with maxed out hitting.
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL yeah I do agree and Personally I would be excited about Pujols but Beltrán was also a switch hitting center fielder with max defence and ability to steal bases there will definitely be part of the community that is upset but there’s also people that just complain about everything lol
As a Cardinals fan and a Pujols fan there is not a bigger name that they have shown as a legend. That said I can understand why people would be disappointed in him as a MLB Live Series reward
Pujols had a .296 career AVG compared to Beltran's .279 but Beltran's card last year had more contact than this year's Pujols.
Pujols had 703 career HRs and an ISO of .248
Beltran had 435 HRs and an ISO of .207
But Pujols has only a sliver of advantage when you compare the cardsPujols had a Career BA with RISP of .312
Beltran had a Career BA with RISP .293
But Beltran had a better Clutch rating (114 to 111)Then when you add in Beltran's advantage in speed and fielding then the Pujols card does not add up.
