@Dolenz_PSN But who could they reveal other than the guys mentioned that would be worthy of the full collection?

Another guy that might make sense is Trout now that he’s going to be a low diamond. It’s been a while since the collection has been a current player, but It wouldn’t surprise me if they did it.

    A-Rod.

Even though he was insane, there was a lot of criticism the year Randy was introduced in 22 as the main collection reward because he's a starter and people prefer an everyday player for how much you have to invest to complete LS.

The switch-hitting meta helps add value, but it also comes down to position rarity. Jeter wasn't a switch-hitter and didn't even have 100 power. However, a 99 overall middle infielder is really valuable early on in the game cycle so he made sense. Pujols offers a phenomenal bat, but that's about it and finding a budget power bat for 1B/DH is usually one of the easiest positions to fill so he would be too one-dimensional for a card that is going to cost millions of stubs from the start.

A-Rod checks most of the boxes.

    Name Value: ✅
    New: ✅
    Contact: ✅
    Power: ✅
    Speed: ✅
    Defense: ✅
    Position Value: ✅
    Switch-Hitter: ❌

That is the only thing he doesn't offer.

@SakAttack87_PSN ARod was the first player I mentioned in an earlier post and seemingly a lock if he’s in the game. He does tick all the boxes. The switch hitting meta isn’t a new thing. It’s always been the meta. It’s also less important early in the year. I will say that Jeter was probably the worst collection reward we’ve had. I was in no rush that year to complete it.

That's fair. I am a Yankees fan so definitely biased, but still just liked the fact that he was brand-new to the game.

As much as I enjoy his cards, I thought Chipper in 21 was pretty weak. Great swing as always, but he had silver defense at his primary position, not a great arm and wasn't fast on top of being a card that had been in the game for a while at that point. The two-way Babe in 24 also was a bit of a letdown for that same reason. Incredible bat, but not much defensively and he usually got rocked on the mound.

I thought Beltran was a perfect addition last year although there are only so many new five tool superstars they can add to the game.

@SakAttack87_PSN I did pretty well pitching with Babe early that year. He wasn’t great as a pitcher, but still one of the best at launch. He also had enough speed for a corner and plenty for 1B. I don’t agree on Chipper. Defense and speed aren’t important at 3B and he’s probably my favorite hitter in the game every year. I think Rollins could be a good pick, but he’s had some early 99’s fairly recently and the only box he doesn’t tick is new/returning.

I hope we get Ty Cobb back and he becomes AL or AL Central reward. I think Dwight Gooden would be a nice new player reward as well. But I think it will be pleasant but underwhelming like Tejada,Jose Reyes or Hanley Ramirez.

I absolutely think the Show needs to continue the live series collection rewards. The argument that no other sports game does this is EXACTLY why they need to continue to do it. I play several other “Ultimate” team games and they are 💯 money grubbing modes. I’ve always enjoyed the balance that the Show has struck between content for NMS players and the whales. Last year I had the LS done after the first roster update NMS. Good luck having the meta that early in any other game NMS. Keep the Show different.

I think they’ll release a big legend in the legends trailer. If they’re tracking who people seem to want the most, and able to get it done, I could see it being Joe DiMaggio or Ty Cobb. Either would be exciting for sure.

As much as i wanna see Joe D in the game, knowing this community, they'd do nothing but complain that he's not 125 power.

Both big names for sure, but I can still see people being lukewarm about both if either are the headliner for the 2026. DiMaggio would automatically upset the "another Yankee?!?" crowd and with Ty Cobb he was in the game about five years ago so moreso a returning Legend like Pujols and Felix over an actual NEW player.

I do agree the marquee reveal will happen when the Legends trailer drops. However, there are only a handful of fresh names that would garner universal praise from the fanbase which would be of that A-Rod or Bonds caliber. Ichiro could be a really fun addition although even with him the very lower power is something that will likely turn off many from using him over some switch-hitting goon who is barely league average. That's unfortunately just how The Show works.

If they don't have any of the BIG names coming, Juan Gonzalez could be a second tier option. Probably better as an AL reward though

@Bicarbonate_Fury_PSN The problem with Miguel Cabrera and Pujols is neither played a premium position or had speed. The only overall collection similar was Babe who was a 2 way player.

@GoozeFn_PSN not true. Ted Williams was the collection in 17, Vlad was 18, and Jeter was 23 (hardly a meta card).

They don’t need a meta player for the collection. People are buying all the high diamonds anyways to get an edge and the collection cards a a bonus (and thus really unnecessary at all). But all they really need is a big name (or 3) for the collection not switch hitters or 5 tool guys.

@GradektheBard_PSN I’ll give you Ted Williams. It was a bit different in 2017 without stats going to 125 though. Vlad had enough speed at 81. Jeter plays a premium position and had speed. The power was the only thing lacking and it was still good enough. It’s obviously not an end all be all criteria, but either one of those guys would be disappointing for the overall reward especially following Beltran.

I think that's why 20 might still be the best collection series overall.

At launch, you had a premiere slugger with Sheffield who could play 3B/OF, a speed/power player with eligibility at C/2B in Biggio and finally Mantle who was the most meta five-tool card available in the game.

All three were brand-new to The Show as well which is always a bonus.
