Beltran was the first test case to see if the writers would punish the "Trash-tros" for their 2017 shenanigans and give them the pariah status they gave the Steroid-era players.

Looks like we have our answer.

I expect Andruw Jones and Jeff Kent to be in the next game. I am hopeful for more older legends though

I have major issues with the HoF voters.

They have their heads jammed far up their asses with WAR now, and yes they are pretty selective with how they apply their morality clause.

I despise the guy as a person, but Curt Schilling has a no brainer HoF resume, and really should have been 1st ballot.

I would put Schilling in too, but 2015 was an IMPOSSIBLE ballot.

    The Top 20:

    1. UNIT
    2. Pedro
    3. Smoltz
    4. Biggio

    1. Piazza - elected 2016
    2. Bagwell - elected 2017
    3. Raines - elected 2017
    4. Schilling
    5. Clemens - no doubter but for ...
    6. Bonds - no doubter but for...
    7. Lee Smith - Veterans pick in 2019
    8. Edgar - elected 2020
    9. Trammell - Veterans pick in 2018
    10. Mussina - elected 2019
    11. Kent - Veterans pick in 2026
    12. McGriff - elected in 2023
    13. Larry Walker - elected in 2020
    14. Sheffield
    15. McGwire - no doubter but for ...
    16. Mattingly

Also, you may not like WAR, but IMHO it's the best tool we've got to compare players across Eras and Positions.

Looking at the Top Career WAR leaders, the only ones in the Top 75 NOT in the Hall are...

The Suspects: Bonds, Clemens, ARod, Schilling
The As Of Recently Permanently Ineligible: Rose
The Not on a Ballot Yet: Pujols, Trout, Verlander, Kershaw, Greinke

    Seems to be working.

Fair on the first ballot in that class

Just absurd that Mussina made it in while Schilling didn't

But tough to feel sorry for a guy that mouthed off to voters the year before he was going to get in.

Absurd? You can't be serious. Curt Schilling didnt become a HOF caliber pitcher until the second half of his career when he had 4 dominant years (01-04). While i agree Schilling should be in, let's not throw around words like "absurd" like we're talking about some random scrub and a world class athlete.

    Mussina was more than deserving.

@Teak2112_MLBTS Why a Royals Beltran when he will almost guaranteed retire a Met.

Because there is already a 99 Beltran for the Mets.

He played pretty much the same amount in NY and KC. He won Rookie of the Year in KC.

Doesn't matter though he wont get a new card this year. I'd be incredibly shocked.
