Finest Card previews for the 11/11 Program

He had a breakout year. Good season. I don’t see why not. From what I can see he batted .255 and not .234 unless I am wrong. His OBP and Slugging were really good also.

Willson Contreras had similar numbers. He had slightly better contact and more RBIs while Rice had more power.
The Yankees already have two 99 overall 1B. Rice will be their 3rd.
St Louis has 91 Contreras as their best primary 1B.I am not saying Rice was unworthy, only that there are probably other teams that had guys with similar numbers who were more in need of another good card.

@Talkingben9558_XBL
I agree I also dont understand the hype of Ben Rice, sure he hit some home runs but mostly a swing and miss guy like stanton and didn't really come thru in important at bats. -
Phew! I was getting nervous that there weren't going to be anymore Yankees cards.

I dont really get the Ben Rice selection. He was not that good this year. .234 batting average, 2.3 WAR, not really deserving of an extra finest card
He got his feet wet last year, but 2025 was his first real opportunity to get consistent ABs and he definitely had a breakout season.
.255/26 HR while also splitting time behind the plate. Advanced metrics rank Rice in the top percentile in many key offensive categories such as exit velocity/barrel rate/hard hit % and when you dive deeper you'll find out that he was actually one of the league's unluckiest hitters with how many balls he hit directly at defenders. His expected batting average and expected weighted on-base average were significantly higher than his actual numbers.
I understand the Yanks have a lot of cards and that annoys people, but I will not stand for this Ben Rice slander.
-
The problem isn't Rice himself, its the lack of guys like Wynn who dont already have a high 90
We are running out of potential spots here, and I do feel every team should get at least 2 finest with the exception of the two WS teams that had their own program. It is kind of funny that .255 26 HR causes a stir while people will riot if a .261 27 HR guy isnt included in the program
-
And another team with 4 Finest cards gets their 5th.
That means 10% of the MLB teams will have 22% of the Finest cards

-
Can't hate on Swanson, does he even have a 90 yet?

No. his best was an Easter 89 overall.
I am not hating on any of these guys but questioning the distribution among teams.
-
Its clear SDS is only marginally interested in theme teams
The game doesn't support them in any modes and you are always penalized by using them over a god squad
-

-
That one makes sense. They could have forced in a Gore card as well for the Nats, but I feel Wood's spotlight card was still his best card regardless of HRD card existing and people like his swing
Definitely a program of low average guys that will get inflated contact though
-
I am hoping the new captain cards that are supposed to come out give us the ability to boost different theme teams than just by what jersey they are wearing.

I get this is requested often, but I just dont think an endgame Willie Mays belongs on a Mets theme team. The alternate solution is to release more cards so a guy like Soto gets his Nats card, but people complain when they do that.

@Teak2112_MLBTS
I see why it would be nice In theory; but if they did that, it could lead to other players never getting a card. Which would lead into complaints. I know it is likely too difficult, but if they had the cards coded with all teams they played for, it wouldn’t matter what team the player is represented by on the card. I imagine that would take way too much time. I don’t have much knowledge in that area. -
@Dolenz_PSN So what I see from your Yankee Depth Chart is that we still need another 99 Yankee at C, 1B, 2B, two at 3B, SS, and LF. There's only two positions that are 99 three cards deep. We can't complete the year without them being without these other cards. There is no other team that matters, except for maybe the Dodgers would be the closest 2nd. Dodgers should be 2 99 deep at each position, the others don't even need one at each position.

I expect they will do this eventually though because most people want it, and there is nothing forcing you to put Manny Ramirez on the Rays theme team if you dont want to

They would have to implement something like they do for Secondary positions. Right now the data for a player card only holds the data for that card including the Team. They would have to give every card a secondary team field to hold all of the others and then have the captain check that field as well.

Only one other Reward in the program which we will have to wait until the top of the hour to see.
-
Your final reward is......

And that leaves Paul Goldschmidt as the last active player who had 99 overall cards in each version of the game from 21-24 without a 99 this year. Hope he gets a retro finest. Even if it is for Arizona he deserves it.
