So... ive been trying the extreme showdown, wasting so much [censored] time on this mode, only need this to complete the program.
Get to Clemens, down 24 to 25 with a runner on 1st and 3rd and 1 outs remaining. I sub in rap Dixon who has 99 speed 99 baserunning.
I am obviously going to try to steal 2nd with rap so I dont hit into a double play. And guess what happens? Just like all the other BS that constantly happens in this game, I get picked off!
Im sorry, NO runner with 99 spd and 99 baserunning should EVER get picked off!
Not to say i woulve won and scored that run, but you never know, just didnt even get the chance. I am so done with this mode!

If you take the extra step before the pitcher looks over, you will get picked off, regardless of 99 baserunning. You have to be sure the pitcher takes that last look.

Rickey Henderson also was picked off 36 times in his career. I wouldn't say they can never be picked off. If you would argue that they get picked off times than they should, that would be a better arguement.
Plus, if you had only one out remaining, why were you worried about a double play? That makes no sense!

The key to showdowns is patience, especially the extreme showdown. That being said I will admit that there is the 1 show down against O'day you can't be to patient. If you do get to clemens and have 20+ runs to start though then you should absolutely be patient. Just sit fastball middle. If you strike out but make him throw 7 pitches each batter for 9 batters thats 63 pitches thrown. That kills his stamina and if you manage to get 1-2 hits or runs then his confidence drains too making it more likely you get a meatball. Stealing is it's own thing and you can usually steal faily easily with 99spd if tap L1 then hold LT on xbox or tap llL21 then hold L2 on PS. This allows you runner to jump as soon as the pitcher releases. Not 100% but faily regular safe calls with 99spd and 80+steal.

In almost all cases 99 speed and 99 steal guys don't need the extra step.
