This Series is an Inconsistent Mess

I use meter and the results are random. You're talking to an open minded person who looks at all perspectives in all facets of my life. If someone made a good point to me, I would have acknowledged it and possibly backed off altogether. The idea of pinpoint is if you have the patience to learn a whole new way of pitching, the ball will go exactly where you want it. I'm sure what you're experiencing is valid. Meanwhile, I use the default meter which has been a staple in the Show forever. It's not uncommon for me to place a pitch in on the hands, just outside the edge of the strike zone.... get a good release, then watch the ball travel out over the middle of the plate which inevitably gets crushed for a home run. Often times it comes in crucial moments of the game. My opponent has been hitless and scoreless for 6 innings and is down a run, but all of a sudden a pitch of mine is hung, not resembling the pitch I intended to throw at all. Bang, home run, game is tied.
The reason I'm frustrated by it, is because I agree with you. The inconsistency with this game is that I've been in a good number of games where it plays PHENOMENALLY. But then I play 3 games in a row and I don't even recognize what's happening. And the opponent quality is about the same. I'd love to see it be consistently fun, but too much random nonsense. Then people defend the game's honor (Are ya'll SDS employees? hahaha) and it only continues to get more broken each year. The biggest improvement in this game in the last 8 years is probably the crack of the bat sound. Pathetic. And they're removing features like Madden is so famous for doing. No more custom soundtracks is moving in the wrong direction, much like the series on the whole. We need competition back, then maybe people here can see what's possible in a good baseball game.

My favorite part was when he complained about tattoos because it’s 2025 and apparently in 2025 tattoo artists don’t get paid for their art work and he thinks the people who make this game are gonna pay for licensing rights to tattoo artists when they barely have enough old players.

One of the pro players uses meter … in a competitive environment… But I cannot argue with that one, since I do not use it. But it sounds weird.
But you blame the game for not improving and then you do not use the biggest improvement (pinpoint) the game has put out the last 5 years. That is simply wild. Nearly all the comp guys use that, that has to have a cause. Put in some work and the better results will happen. Be warned: you gotta be good with every input, otherwise bad things will happen
But let‘s agree on that competition is always nice to have … do not forget the licensing tho
… Nobody plays a baseball game with „Frank Lindman“ as the starting SS for the New York Mets :).But I do not agree, that the game gets worse. I play baseball video games for the last 40+ years. Some of you folks do not see how good a product it is.

Reddit would disagree with that. People whining is what makes products better. Whining about Madden and making hashtags go viral about how bad that game is has the NFL reconsidering the exclusive deal they have with EA. There are plenty of people who agree with me and dislike this game... they've just given up on it and aren't on these forums. My guy out here thinking SDS doesn't have the money to pay the tattoo artists and make that happen lol. 2K has been doing this for years. It adds to the realism and presentation. I'd say your last sentence doesn't make sense, but then I realized your whole post is one long run-on sentence lol. If you're going to step up to the plate and try to match wits, your post can't resemble that of a 3rd grade student.

What sounds weird? What I've experienced pitching with the meter? I'm sure there are people who can hit that yellow bar with very high rate. Even then, I've hit the yellow bar and still had the ball land somewhere different than where I placed it.
I blame the game for getting worse. There was nothing to improve on a few years ago, but then SDS started adding all these different settings, some which were designed to be superior a'la pinpoint pitching and Strikezone. The majority of the best players use these settings. Is that a coincidence? Or perhaps I have a point? Not to mention, since 2017 what has been the biggest improvement in this series? They haven't touched the graphics, animations or bothered with online franchise (and that's not even something I care about... but I know people have been begging for it for years) Did they introduce pinpoint because meter doesn't work like it should? I really don't understand the need for a new style of pitching. Seems to me like that's some kind of admission from SDS that their game doesn't work right. I tried it and it's not fun, imo. I've mentioned not wanting to be strong armed into using the settings everyone uses to get that competitive edge. If they don't want to / have to change, I don't know why I should. Honestly, I don't want to put the work in to a game that I'm fairly sure produces random results at least 25% of the time. I learned meter, and I'm pretty good using it. If meter doesn't work as it should SDS should take it out of the game and require everyone use pinpoint, since that seems to be the setting that works as intended.
True. I don't know if SDS has exclusive rights a'la EA and Madden... but for the love of God, do all 3 major sports games need competition. I used to buy 2K, Madden and The Show annually. Now I haven't bought a 2K since 2K22, Madden since 2019 and skipped The Show from 22-24. To be honest though, I'm enjoying the College Football series and once you get a few years into your dynasty, you get yourself a Frank Lindman or a Coco Johnson.... game is still fun! I grew up on baseball games where Ken Griffey Jr. was the only licensed player in the game haha.
I do see how good the product is. I've never seen a baseball game where it's actually a challenge to discern balls from strikes. The series pretty much nailed how a baseball simulation should play more than any baseball game in the past. But I've seen it go more and more down that Ultimate Team route where they're catering to YouTubers who they count on to advertise their game. And since a lot of these guys get complimentary copies of the game, packs of cards etc... they're not going to bash the game. They are there to show off the sweet diamonds they pulled, convince people to buy packs of cards... and hit bombs with their new cards (home runs are beyond excessive, btw) Then people will think if they buy cards, they'll pull sweet diamonds and hit bombs just like the guy on YouTube. It's more about fireworks now than balance and consistency, imo. I wish I were like you and could enjoy the game. I just play it too much and this is what I see from the series in 2025. But the bones of a great baseball game are very much there, we just gotta switch up the diet a bit (so to speak)

Your best post yet! However, my premise is credible. I've put far too many hours into this game and have a huge sample size to back up what I'm saying. It's what I experience whenever I log on to the game, I guess I just can't articulate it in a way that other people can understand. Boxing gloves are only reserved for the people I knew would be fired up over my opinion piece. If you read the back and forth between Yoshi and I, I'm dealing with him much differently.... sans boxing gloves. Thank you for allowing me to be dissatisfied. Just one of many!

There's a lot of stuff to read on this thread, I get it! You missed the part where I addressed that and that's okay. Don't beat yourself up over it. I mentioned if I throw a pitch that's way inside, in on the batter's hands and they crank it for a home run on early contact, I'm out. I don't quit the game, I just put the controller down and walk away from the TV. It jacks up my ERA and plummets my batting average. I'm basically a .500 player in 2025. Prior to that, I was somewhere between Division and World Series ranking. -
@Squid_Adams_PSN I saw the excuse. I just don’t buy it. You’re 7 games under .500 to be accurate. I don’t buy that you’ve ever made World Series either. Maybe you should spend more time in custom practice than you do on this forum blaming the game for your lack of skill.
