Funny thing about Pete Rose being 66th in all time WAR
The guy who is 67th is out of the hall of fame for being an asshole. No gambling, no links to steroids, no cheating, no uh, playing in the minor leagues. Just a world class asshole.Had a good idea who you were referring to. Looked it up. Yep.
I mean, he doesnt have the hits record so its not easy to be a direct comparison, but 3000 Ks and one of the best post season pitchers of all time makes him a no brainer HoF based on his career alone.
But after what he pulled with Wakefield he can rot.

@Teak2112_MLBTS He was always a bad guy. Go back and watch how he was on the bench during the 93 playoffs. Bad teammate.

@YOSHI24_XBL The "Pete Rose 15" thing is a woman who claims to have had a physical relationship with Rose when she was underage. These claims have not been verified nor substantiated in any way beyond her allegations and hearsay. These allegations were brought forth by John Dowd in 2017. So, even though Dowd had begun investigating Rose as early as 1988, these allegations were not made public for 42 years.
He may be guilty, he may not. Being guilty of gambling does not automatically make him guilty of anything else. The complete lack of any evidence is why no charges were ever filed.
Wander Franco, on the other hand faces a litany of charges beyond the Stat. charge. Additionally, there is a substantial amount of evidence to support his charges.

Rose himself admitted to the relationship and used the defense of "I thought she was 16"

@Tuke7-1_PSN Thanks. But let‘s close that. I am glad he is unbanned now … He is the ultimate hits leader … Everything else judging-wise is not my business

So comparing WAR between a guy whose career was curtailed with a guy who decided he got to stick around for maybe a decade too long is silly.
Last 10 years of Pete's Career. These are his batting averages
.311
.302
.331
.282
.325
.271
.245
.286
.259
.365
.264
.214Hardly the numbers of a guy who stuck around a decade too long.
He was a Top 10 MVP candidate when he was 40.
Led the league in hits when he was 40
Led the league in doubles at ages 37 and 39
Led the league in Games played at age 41I don't even really like Pete, and think he would just be another low power card that nobody would use at the higher competitive levels. I don't care if he is in the game but to dismiss his final decade is just misguided.

The last 7 years of his career, he had -1.2 rWAR and -13.6 WAA. He had 884 hits in that time period. Without those 7 years of being an overall negative contributor to his teams, he has 3372 hits, only good for 10th all time.
During the last 7 years of Ty Cobb’s career, he had 31.6 rWAR and 17.6 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Hank Aaron’s career, he had 23.4 rWAR and 12.0 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Stan Musial’s career, he had 19.9 rWAR and 7.5 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Tris Speaker’s career, he had 37.0 rWAR and 22.5 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Derek Jeter’s career, he had 13.3 rWAR and -0.5 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Cap Anson’s career, he had 17.7 rWAR and 5.4 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Honus Wagner’s career, he had 29.1 rWAR and 17.5 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Carl Yastrzemski’s career, he had 12.0 rWAR and 0.1 WAA.
During the last 7 years of Albert Pujols’ career, he had 1.3 rWAR and -9.4 WAA.
Those are the 9 guys that would be ahead of him. All of them were better than him over their last 7 years. All of them outside of Albert Pujols were significantly better than him. No body consistently watched Pujols for those 7 years and thought he was good and he was still better than Rose.
Rose isn’t the all time hits leader because he was that good. He’s the all time hits leader because other top players retired when they felt they wouldn’t positively contribute to their team anymore. Rose didn’t care that he sucked and kept playing anyway.
But he shouldn’t be in the game for other reasons, not this.

I agree Please Add Pete Rose

Boy we have a lot of Pete Rose haters in here! All I know is that you need to keep those two Pieces of $hit off this game Barry Steroid Bonds and A-Rod two huge cheats! I would’ve loved to see where there careers would’ve finished without the juice.
-
@Cory-Seager_XBL This will blow your mind but you know Pete used PEDs too, right? Do you think players were popping greenies because they didn't help them?
-
@Jacob151167_XBL He only got to pencil himself in the lineup for the last two-and-half years of his playing career when he was named Cincinnati Reds Manager after being traded from the Montreal Expos for Tom Lawless, a utility infielder, on May 16, 1984. He played until September 1986, and retired after only getting seventy-two hits that year. Rose played until he couldn't, and until there were better alternatives like Nick Esasky and Paul O' Neill to replace and surpass what he offered in production.
