Why are the top diamonds so expensive?

All I’m missing in my live series collection are Judge, J Ram, Witt, Marte, Ohtani, and Tatis. Tatis is a weird one because less than a month ago he was 40k, which I was starting to save for after saving to buy Skenes, now well over 100. Is it because the odds are less for these high Diamond cards this year? Why is Ohtani 550k?? And Judge well over 400k. At this rate I’m never finishing live series and won’t get to use Beltran. Seriously why is this a thing?

@SaveFarris_PSN yeah I love watching Tik Tok’s of a streamer pulling 3 Ohtani’s or others that put money into packs and pulling Judge etc etc. I don’t have the expendable money to do so. I work 3 jobs, don’t have the time to sit there and play stock market simulator. I just wanna sit down after work and play for a bit. This absolutely sucks

Because of multiple factors, including returning to a power creep where the best live series cards are still usable at this point in the game (whereas seasons made them largely irrelevant quite quickly the last two years), the live series collection rewards being the best cards available (Beltran best CF; Hodges best 1B; Clemens best SP; Valenzuela being among the top 5 SP; Headley arguably the best natural 3B, etc), and BR rewards being randomized instead of following set patterns (thereby putting less of them into circulation).

Power creep makes them some of best cards in the game + high demand and low supply.
I firmly believe SDS is also making them artificially scarce to increase their prices and entice stub sales. It’s ridiculous as I’ve made no progress on the 6 remaining diamonds I need in the past 4-6 weeks.
Flipping is not viable at this time and diamond quest was nerfed. So stubs are in short supply for cards in high demand which makes prices soar. It’s a bummer for sure.

Tatis went up cause he was upgraded to 92, much more rare in packs now
