How did you or plan to complete Live Series Collections
-
I was curious what other people have either planned or actually did to complete the Live Series collection this year. The prices of each live series card seems to only go up more each week, so I was wondering what strategies people were using to try to complete this.
So far, I still need Judge/Witt/Ramirez/Soto/Ohtani/Betts/Tatis......I was lucky enough to pull Trout and completed the AL Central before things got too crazy, but after adding everything up, I still need 1,793,949 stubs to complete everything. I completely understand that the Live Series is supposed to a challenge and difficult and that the Live Series should last awhile to complete...but I wanted to know how others have decided to attack this challenge. Here are some possible options, I wish I had the ability to make a poll and see what the results are, but I don't know how to do that.
A. Buy Stubs/Buy Packs
B. Flip the Market
C. Grind Mini Seasons/Diamond Quest
D. Hope to get lucky in Packs
E. I will wait for the price to drop down the road
F. Grind Battle Royale
G. Sell all Cards I obtain until I have enough (Program Cards, Topps Now)There could be other options I might have missed, but I listed most of the popular ones. Also interesting to note, that if you complete the Easter Diamond Quest and obtain both cards, you only need to do 65 runs in order to get the total I listed above, but honestly, we are all one pack away from pulling Ohtani and finishing a massive chunk of the collection in an instant.

I flipped and farmed the heck out of DQ new threads. Got lucky and pulled Trout and Marte to help.

Market investments and DQ.

I got very lucky in the first 2 weeks with pulls. I made a mistake and bought trout, lindor and a bunch of the lower 80’s to finish a bunch of the collections. I should’ve bought ohtani when he was in the 300’s at that time. Now I’m back up to 540k needing ohtani and ketel to finish LS. I’ve been just playing and selling everything. Got lucky with a tatis pull after his upgrade.

@w1ck3dx24_PSN It took me longer than usual because they ruined every stub making method, but I was still done in about a month. I’m usually done in about 2 weeks. Basically, I sold everything above quicksell except 88+. I put an order in for every common-gold and waited. I saved and bought Ohtani first. Then, the next most expensive 88+ and so on. The high diamonds get more expensive and the low diamonds get cheaper over time. For example, I bought Ohtani at ~350 and now he’s worth 580. I sold Elly for 30+ and he’s worth 4 now. This is the most efficient way. It starts slow, but once you have the top few guys, you get done quickly. Preordering is great for getting the low level guys at quicksell early. I also sell most of the non live series diamonds and get them after I’m done with the collection. Those players are usually cheaper later too. Hope this helps for future years.

I had some good pulls early in (trout, Soto, marte) but still have the really high cards to go. To satisfy my urge to complete and not feel like I’m grinding “forever”, I look and see who is the highest remaining card I need for a team. When I get enough stubs to buy that guy, I’ll finish the rest of that particular team.
I need 5 or less cards from about 10 teams. Next up? Harper, Tucker, or skubal. (All are in the high 30’s)

I do not plan to finish. SDS has nerfed, intentionally, all no-money-spent stub generation methods. Offline grinding is not very rewarding and Rookie pitching is frustrating (not hard: frustrating).
I'll play a few games here and there this year, but I'm pretty much done.
-
I'm not doing it. I have only finished the live collection once and that was last year and only happened at the end of the year when I had extra stubs and live series cards were pretty much all at their quick sell values.

How are you guys doing DQ ? I keep getting demolished by the As and I’m a 900-1k player online typically. I can dot 3 pitches and they literally nuke all of them. My par sometimes is aweful and results in walks. And my batting exit velos are severely bad no matter how good I mount up. It’s a joke the gameplay is aweful. I’m playing legend and Goat

I'll just wait until prices drop. Substantially. Aside from Simmons, I'm really not all that interested in any of the LS collection rewards. I still feel like the LS will start to drop before too terribly long. An 88 Ketel Marte can't stay that high forever (... can he?)

As a Cardinals fan, that makes me happy! Simmons was a Cardinal from the time I was 4 until I was 16 so I do have a soft spot for him. Unless we get a better version he will be my cardinals theme team catcher all year.

@w1ck3dx24_PSN I did G … I am not able to go flawless, so I just played the game with a big focus on TA and with a few Diamond Quests, read the market and sold/bought wisely. Got Beltran late April just before prices raised … The TA-packs brought me Marte, Judge and Trout (so I had to buy Ohtani for 400K)

Legend/GOAT is giving the CPU permission to cheat. It might seem counterintuitive, but it's probably easier to play a human on legend than the CPU.

@Loyal-Wiglaf_XBL A lot of people are loading up with speed and bunting to win on goat. B line to the stadium and play of goat. Bunt steal bunt and get a runner in. I’ve done it like that once and won. GOAT is not fun.

I'm a White Sox and D-backs fan, but I was a catcher when I used to play so I always love seeing new catchers added to the game. Josh Gibson and Ted Simmons were two on my list that SDS really needed! Now let's go out and get Carlton Fisk, Camp, and Yogi next year and I think we're in good shape.

I just completed the Cubs LS and finished the NL Central. Got Simmons. Thinking of swapping out my P3 Napoli for him. Not a Cards fan, but always like him growing up.
-
I’ll complete it when I get there; basically time and luck.

That's exactly how I'm feeling, flipping has been very frustrating so far this year, just now hitting 100k stubs again. Only missing Judge, Witt, Soto and Ohtani..... unfortunately that's 700+ stubs not counting Ohtani.
-
Mostly grinding DQ and selling the rewards. Also selling any other non-live series pulls or rewards that I won't be using in my lineup. But DQ has by far been the best and most rewarding offline way to make stubs.
-
I won't be finishing LS or the Retro Spotlight until end of season when they come down in price. I will ride with the players I can get at a decent price and the heck with the others. I will not be spending money to buy stubs. If 2-4 hours playing almost every night doesn't earn me those players then SDS has definely not earned my money.
