Spring Breakout Showdown

Got my 4 cards. So glad its over.
Failed the first stage 2x, but was 4-4 once past the first stage
For every stage but the last two there are two bosses you can get. they range from 6 outs (you start with runner on second) to 15.The real boss of this is Schultz, who i got all 4 times as the second to last guy. Its possible I was lucky/unlucky and never saw the other possibility for that slot, but I think hes probably there 100%
Chase throws hard, but you have 25 outs and hero time + coors = homer time
Still, helps to prepare for both L and R, So Devries is an auto select round one. I also love Mayo who destroys righty-righty matchups. Braden Montgomery I took every time, and Jaison Churio as well for the bunts (and a VERY clutch grand slam against Bubba Chandler)
Its a little rough until you get hero time, but as someone who sucks at hitting I was able to get through. Other than the first round fails Chandler took me to 2 outs once (thanks Jaison, he was BP the other time though) and Schultz had me to 3 outs
I really wish SDS would at least let you fail once, it would take a lot of the anxiety out of this mode. I had one stage where Basallo got robbed of a HR TWICE. I would have been pretty infuriated if I lost a run because of that, and a free redo would go a long way

I have failed it twice, which is sad for me because there is a Cardinal at the end of that program.

At least there is a repeatable mission, so its not required. But the repeatable is a lot of pxp

True, but that 20 points in that showdown just looks so tempting
I'm rusty as heck starting out the year.
-
Just load up with either left handers or right handers pending who your going up against
-
@Dolenz_PSN 20 points aint tempting enough to deal with the cheap AI and sliders. Just reminded myself why I hate this mode most of all. They even exposed how they use hidden sliders in this mode. Right as you set your lineups, all of the players stats are nerfed to 30s and 40s.

Eh, I have my ups and downs with Showdowns.
So far I would say my batting has taken a step back to start the new year, whether that is because we are using lesser cards or simply because I am just hitting worse this year. It is probably a combination.
More important than getting Weatherholt is for the prices to come down on Paul Skenes, Kyle Tucker and Elly so that I can have a shot at getting Ted Simmons

What are they at now?

Skenes - Mid 50K
Tucker - 36K - 40K
Elly - Mid 30k
Sonny Gray - 9.5 to10K
William Contreras - 14KSo currently I would need roughly 150K to get those 5 players (the best from each team in the division)
I currently have 72K so I kind of need those prices to drop, preferably by 50%

I played a BR game yesterday hoping to get my 1 hit off the free entry.
Simmons got it for me with a HR -

Simmons got it for me with a HRCool! I wonder if that is the only Simmons we get this year since he is a division collection. He is only a 90 though. Even so if I can get him paralleled up and with a full Captain boost he should be good enough for me.
Interesting fact about Simmons, a catcher that most fans today don't know. A quote from when he was inducted in 2021 to the HOF
Only one catcher in the history of baseball (Hall of Famer Yogi Berra) has more RBI. Only one catcher in MLB history (Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez) has more hits.

I know he was only OK for the Cardinals, but im excited for Pendleton.
Before the Braves were the Mets rivals they were a team in the NL West that would regularly lose 90+ games a year. They were starting to show promise with young pitchers (Smoltz and Glavine in their pre dominant young days plus Steve Avery) but the offense stunk.
In comes Terry Pendleton from the Cardinals to win an MVP. Bobby Cox's first year. Glavine gets his first Cy Young. team overnight went from a perennial 90 loss team to a perennial 90 win team.
Little did I know at the time that in a couple years the Braves would move to the NL East, Pendleton would hand his job over to some kid named Larry, and the Mets would gain their biggest rival (one that unfortunately usually has the upper hand)
Pendleton didn't deserve the MVP though, that should have been Bonds. He won the prior one and the next two though, he has no shortage on pre-steroids MVPs
-
I may try again later but failed the first round with not one hit. If it weren’t for speedy bronze Jorge Mateo at second I would have scored no runs
-
I finally completed that monstrosity of a mode, only bc JJ was the final reward. I skipped Schultz and went to Dollander down 16-25. Just wore him down, somehow his confidence kept jumping up even though I was blasting him

Has anyone else noticed that your lineup's batting attributes are lowered in this Spring Breakout Showdown? After drafting, I went to my lineup and noticed that hitting attributes are reduced for all of the cards in my lineup. When I draft the player, the attributes look accurate, but when I go to the batting order/lineup screen, the attributes are greatly lowered. I am trying to beat this Showdown but it is more of a challenge with my lineup only having 30-40 power.

It's a visual glitch. It's showing their LS attributes.

How do you get the 3 cards? I beat the showdown and never got them

Are you sure?(I know it's just visual)because I'm finding success this time but my first several attempts they were hitting as if they did have the lower attributes

I am terrible at Showdown and tried it once. I beat the first two bosses really easily and was cooking on the third one, but had a couple of line out double plays and it went downhill from there. I decided that grinding the PxP was better for my mental health than trying it over and over with no success. The fact that stats in the mode don't count for anything is a turnoff as well. Once I got Chase Dollander the grind wasn't that bad. He contributed tons of the needed PxP himself.
