It would be awesome if they found a way to honor all of their previous cover guys with an awesome 25th-anniversary collector's edition, which I would gladly spend $150 on.
It's not the 25th anniversary.
Next year will be the 20th anniversary of the MLB The Show Franchise.
25 will simply be the year it is released.
Yes, you are correct. I was thinking of the original Sony baseball studio.
Counting the prior 989 Sports baseball games we are past 25 as there were 9 versions of that title.
My memory is getting bad.

Does it even matter anymore? How many people are still playing with Guerrero or ever did this year. If they have a cover athlete at least their card should be a little bit jacked in comparison to other 99's, Don't recall anyone saying "Wow, remember that Jazz Chisolm from '23?" either.

Not much in the grand scheme of things. I don’t even play online. The aesthetics is a big part of it though. Plus, it’s cool to see someone from your favorite team get the nod. -
