I could see those two and maybe Cy Young (who also does not have a 99) being Season 4 XP path boss rewards.

We didn't get Cy Young himself for the third choice, but we did get a 3x Cy Young Award winner, so that's gotta count for something.
Also, Daulton Varsho for the D-backs is awesome as long as he has a C secondary. Left-handed catcher with a great swing, strong defense and near-elite speed? Hard to beat that.

At this stage, everybody already has a stacked lineup without any real holes. And there's no way they can put out 30 cards that will appeal to 100% of the users. I have had a lot of fun with Josh Gibson, Jorge Posada, and the S1 TN Shea Langeliers, so I don't really need Varsho, but he'll be fun to play with whilst grinding out TA3 stats. In fact, none of the previewed cards (including Mantle, Musial, Pedro, Bellinger, etc.) are going to make my team "better." They'll just make my team different, which is all we can really hope for in October.

For me I think Bellinger and Pedro will make my team better. I love that Bellinger is one of the only players with 90+ arm strength that can play 1B (fits Cruz Captain boost).

I'll be interested to see the stats. Musial should have higher contact numbers than Mantle. Mantle should have higher Power numbers along with speed and defense.
I did notice that based on their real life 162 games averages that Musial had a higher SLG% due to him hitting more doubles and triples per 162 games. That surprised me given Mantles power and speed.

Oh the arm strength boost at 1B is interesting. I haven't used the Cruz captain card much or at all. I'll give you that one for sure! I will 100% be slotting Pedro into my rotation, but I'm not sure he's going to bump out someone who is noticeably worse. I guess 99 ASG Skenes is headed for the exit, but I don't think I will notice a dramatic upgrade with Pedro. But I loved watching Pedro when I was younger, and I am always excited to use different cards.
Definitely looking forward to gaming more this weekend than I have since Season 3 first dropped.
