Where’s an honor to Pete Rose?!?!
-
Given how negatively gambling can impact sports you have to make strong examples out of these guys. He was betting on the outcomes of games he was directly involved in. To me, that demonstrates he was sometimes manipulating the games he managed. In any sport, not just baseball, that person would be banned for life. I recognize Rose was an amazing player, but he brought this on himself

Really seriously enough already, Pete Rose was caught betting on baseball when he was still playing hence why he's banned for life, he will never be in the hall of fame and yes he did disrespect the game
Again, thank the Lord Ippei took the fall.

He was betting his team would win! "Boy, there's even MORE on the line for me. Better play harder!" What an influence on the game huh??
I will continue to thank Ippei for his sacrifice.

Ironic that MLB allowed Las Vegas to take the A's.

Except for the days where he DIDN'T bet on them to win. Did he try harder then too?

@SaveFarris_PSN
You're gonna need to sauce this information for me because last I checked he was betting for his teams to win especially playoff games.
I'm an old timer when it comes to rose and join the guys that defend him. The man was a bit crazy and did questionable things. I'm not defending his morals and outside of the sport actions. I'm only arguing on the point his bets were for his team to WIN.
They investigated Shohei for a solid 10 minutes and his translator folded. Shohei speaks English. The entire argument to defend shohei is "he's to stupid to gamble and manage his finances." That's ridiculous. It's because he makes the MLB millions upon millions of dollars and banning him to the same degree would absolutely decimate the MLB.
Rose was white american and didn't have a translator. What a shame. -

Homie I ain't reading 228 pages of that document to find out if he betted AGAINST his own team. I'm not disputing him betting on baseball games, goober. You look through 228 pages and tell me what page and line. -
@SaveFarris_PSN
I didn't read your entire document cause all it took was a quick google search to find out he never betted against the Reds.
Please move on.
I don't care if players bet on games. We have a saturated market of book keeping apps that the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, etc all profit from but they forbid the players from using them?? That's horse caca.
Rose is innocent if Shohei is innocent. -
If Pete bets on the Reds on Monday, DOESN'T bet on them Tuesday, then bets on them again Wednesday, that's the same as betting against your team on Tuesday.
You do know that, right? Because that's what happened. Not to mention that the rules says you don't bet on baseball games, for or against, or face permanent ineligibility.
Pete knew it.
He did it anyway.
And now he gets to suffer the punishment. -
@SaveFarris_PSN
So either shohei is guilty or he's retarded? Which is it? -
Why not both?
-
@SaveFarris_PSN
Agreed.
Rose didn't bet against his team. What you're saying isn't true. "he didn't bet so that means he bet against." Dummest argument. -

I personally think Rose should still be in the HOF but saying "He bet on his team to WIN" has to be one of the stupidest attempts at reasoning i've seen in the forums. Betting for his team to win opens up a whole other can of worms and more investigations from MLB. Was Rose working with someone? Did he reach out to an opposing coach and offer a cut to bench a star player, pull an ace early or leave a bullpen arm in longer than he should? Maybe there was an opposing player who saw an increase in defensive errors when playing against Rose. A middle of the rotation pitcher that had a lot of bad games when playing against the Reds.
Far too many scenarios to go through. Its easier for MLB to just blame Rose and be done with it.

My brother in Christ, this investigation already happened. He even linked the 228 page court documents. You can answer every one of those questions yourself.
The "betting on his team to win" argument was literally used since the beginning. So saying it's the dummest shows your lack of understanding to the situation and what sports betting is. It doesn't open up any can of worms. It's literally the point a defense that he wasn't rigging games to win that he had influence over. If he believed his team could win he bet. If he didn't he didn't bet. He still played and played hard. He's the Hit King after all. Goodness gracious.
I really think you're just BJDUBBYAH alt account at this point with how often you come to my posts to argue with me. I'm flattered yet again though it's definitely one those pick on me cause you have a BIG crush. -
In the end it does not matter whether he bet for or against the Reds since the rule simply says you can't bet on baseball, period. He broke MLB's rules by betting on baseball and when caught he spent almost two decades denying it.
By betting on his own team he escalated the offense to a lifetime ban.

No, he was just rigging the games he didn't bet on by resting his stars.

This just in:
You're not allowed to rest good players. They have to play every game.
