Season concept is dumb

Been playing DD religiously for 10 years and 2023-Now different story. Season Eligibility destroyed people's passion for DD. End it completely or make it an ONLINE requirement ONLY!

@m_caraballo24_PSN “bought” with in game currency. You can still use it. You just can’t use it in single player coop again until later in the game cycle. You can also use it via wild card.
That's not the point. It's solo ranked. Arguably the most played and competitive mode the game offers. I would argue most people that play DD are not as interested in playing bots as they are playing real people. Casual doesn't give ANY TA rewards or xp, PxP, or effective XP at all. I will say it's very good for your opponent to quick start the first run they give up in the 3rd inning.
The game lasts exactly one year before the next copy comes out. There is no free or base version of the game in ANY way yet there's micro transactions out the [censored]. There are 2-3 sets and seasons of strict card limitations in a game that lasts one year exactly. You could make the argument you pay for CoD every year. To my knowledge cod doesn't remove your items you earned playing the game in ranked modes.
Games that have card rotations ie Hearthstone or Magic the Gathering, don't require you to buy a whole new game every year NOR do they rotate more than one set at a time. They have multiple sets inside of ONE season. So they drop a new set and rotate out the oldest of the previous three. So you always have three sets and most of your previous cards remaining eligible for standard season. Not only that but they have multiple games modes for ranked. Not just one. Coop in The Show also governs or throttles your library for.....balance?? And there is no wild or modern alternative for your library of cards in The Show. Only the one standard mode. Kinda lame and not player or collector friendly. -
Season 2 ch 1 stinks. No reason to play for these cards outside of collection fodder.

@Teak2112_MLBTS I don’t see why the power creep reset doesn’t work. I do think they could do it better though. The TA should have maxed out at 95 in season 1 and started at 91 in season 2. More gradual power creep with less of a total reset to 89.
It's a balance between the crowd that complains about "WHERE ARE THE 99s, RAMONE?" and the crowd that complains about "IT'S AUGUST AND I ALREADY HAVE AN END GAME TEAM. WHAT IS THERE TO PLAY FOR IN THE NEXT 8 MONTHS?"

I think the idea is to give us multiple 99s from every season that we can use as wildcards and eventually in the forever season.
-
I'm kind of torn on the seasons concept. To the point that someone made above - having 99's earlier in the game is nice bc I pretty much stop playing in Aug/Sept each yr. I'll come back for a wk in Nov/Dec and again in Feb/March but don't play nearly enough to enjoy the 99's in the traditional power creep. However - the complete reset this yr is bad. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be with having completed the Live Series collection and using Castillo as the cornerstone captain. I think my lowest starting position player / starting pitcher is a 92 OVR. Ultimately - I think I wouldn't mind this set up if there were multiple wildcard slots available at Season 2 launch AND the wildcards counted towards TA progress.
-
An idea for a new format, make all cards playable all year, go get wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more players i have a ruuning thread where I add two players a day and I can go on forever with baseballs rich history.
1 card per player also. Dont need 7 different versions of paul konerko. Cory Snyder one card make it a 72 bronze
do a 79 silver kevin mitchell 82 gold lance berkman so on and so forth tons and tons players. Can still make as a company too sds people will pay $ for a 79 silver Rob Deer lol. Then make 4-5 running events simultaneously and charge a $1000 stubs to enter. Have a live series only event have a bronze only event have a silver only have one where you can use anyone you want. can still do lefty pitchers vs righty hitters and vice versa. There are so many ways to do this . And as always I am available for hire to help.
Thoughts ????????????????????????????????? -
I am not attacking or defending SDS here. Seasons allow players who did not start at launch to compete at the start of a new season. The season implementing this year keeps LS cards relevant, which keeps standard packs relevant. Special packs are a money grab too, but people spend money to grab them. SDS is a business and is operating like a division that is getting pressure from above.

Only part I am ok with is making LS relevant most I ever used them

If you make 4-5 events running together at the same time, make one them live series only players that solves keeping them relevant. You don't need a format of not letting us use players in the seasons format to accomplish that.

I think far more people prefer to play against CPU than they do other players.
The whales tend to be the online players though (but not exclusively). -
@BigBadBosc44_PSN You gonna pony up the dough to get the rights to every single person that's ever played Major League Baseball?
-
yes, i am sure guys like Bip Roberts and Greg Swindell would not be commanding ridiculous amounts lol
And if they were , I would communicate to the community what we offered and what they demanded for all to see
And I can guarantee there are players who love their kids and grand kids to be able to play with their guys
My theory and point is SDS does not even try. They would rather have us play with minor leagues players because its free for them. No one in history would buy a baseball game that has only minor leaguers -
@m_caraballo24_PSN We also do not care (nor does anybody) about your opinion, if you start off this way

The whales tend to be the online players though (but not exclusively).I guess I wouldn't surprised necessarily if this was true but it would be interesting to know this information. I naturally assume it's a heavily PvP based community in nature of the sport but also because of gaming as a whole today. It does make more sense for money to come out of the online community as that's where most of the competitors and marketplace for cards lies.

I’m not new to this game but I took a big break and I’m new to seasons. So you mean to tell me the players I spent money on to get I can now not use? I’m gonna get dragged by this toxic community for my opinion for sure but I really don’t care for the opinions of nerds that never have ever picked up a bat in real life once in their lives. This [censored] is dumb. Greedy asf by SDS.
What does you spending money on players and not being able to use them, and people never picking up a bat as you say have to do with anything exactly?
Calling folks nerds in here well that's fine, but you're a idiot. Don't throw your money away next time dumb dumb.

Thoughts ?????????????????????????????????How do you get around satisfying both the
'It's mid-September and they haven't released Mickey Mantle' crowd
and the
'I got Mantle back in May. Why would I want this Rusty Greer card now?' crowd? -
@AdeptOfMemory_PSN My money would be on the vast majority at least playing some online.

It would be interesting to know the stats.
I remember a poll on reddit last year that over 60% of responders played primarily offline, and I would have assumed forums like that are more skewed towards online players
Also the age for a baseball game would skew older I would think due to baseball in general drawing an older audience, and that may impact the ratio of people who play 'PvP'.
PvE microtransactions can make a killing, but the value you get for your dollar when you buy stubs is pretty pathetic.
