True/False - Can’t complete sets without buying packs now?

@TubaTim90 said in True/False - Can’t complete sets without buying packs now?:
First we complain about cards’ values being lower than ever. Then we complain about having to use stubs to buy cards, which is exactly what would raise their value.
Why even have an in-game-currency, if people are going to complain about having to spend it!
I dont think people would care much about the packs if they weren't so overpriced. You gotta be a complete moron to spend 30-40K on a pack where you have an 90% chance of pulling a diamond tier that will get you 4000 on the market.

@Easy_Duhz_It_ people must be buying them, because they keep pumping them out.

@go4stros25
Gambling addicts and rich people. I don’t care how people spend their money but it doesn’t make any logical sense to buy the high end packs with just a remote chance at subpar cards. If no one bought them SDS would be forced to put better cards in packs, lower the asking price, or both.

Like @YOSHI24 and @SaveFarris have said... patience is key. As of today, there are 60 days left in Season 1. Two more TA programs will net 60 free cards at least (90 in total). 10 more Season Award programs, for 50 more cards. Two more BR programs for at least 25 more cards (these technically aren't "free", though, given the 1,500 entry fee, but you can earn more packs and stubs to offset the price). During the first two weeks, we also got Egg Hunt and Spring Breakout for another 12 cards. Another 6-ish cards for doing RS two more times.
So , that's 180-ish free cards. if I'm counting right. I'm at 108 collected right now, including my TA part 1. I did buy a couple of cards that I wanted (Jake Burger, anyone? Love that card). So by the end of Season 1, that puts me around 250 cards if I don't buy anything else. We need 325 to get all 3 Collection packs. Will I get there without buying any packs/cards? Looking doubtful, but we'll see what SDS rolls out. Like others have said, I'm sure that some of these packs will be sprinkled in upcoming CQ maps, and at a minimum, that should tank prices.
Someone let me know if my math is wrong...

@Easy_Duhz_It_
Agreed, 100%. But as go4stros said, people must be buying them!

I usually don't complete sets until July/August when I have 2/3 million stubs to spend.
So like in previous years (except 23) - are you saying I can't just buy players off the market to complete all the team sets? it's different this year?
I'm talking about the sets where it's every team and once you complete you get a AL WEST, NL WEST, NL, AL, MLB awards.
-
@arvcpa yes they will release plenty more cards, but will the average player still be playing? Will they have time to play either the best cards before they tike out with the new season?
-
If you want these cards right now then yes you need to buy packs. Im sure once then next season starts or maybe even TA2 at the end of the week, some of these packs with show up in rewards. The two keys to NMS has always been grinding and patience. Season Awards were easy to complete without doing the set. I have not spent a dime and really have not grinded very much at all and I already have all but 5 teams completed for Live series. Im in no hurry for the super expensive cards I need.

@LuvMyXBOX
You definitely can buy them off the market. You just don't get any of the packs (so far) by doing activities.
You don't get rewards for each division this year, however.

@The-Harvest SDS is not forcing you to buy to finish season awards programs as i finished both of them without paying packs but this is what equalivant to tier skips in 2k and madden where some people wants to get a headstart, the same people who wants the collections rewards day one. But if SDS is leaning to please those people, then I agree with you.
