And to be fair, even with all the issues and technical ineptitude: the game is fun.
I feel it deserves no worse than a 3.75, its the best of the major sports games on the market. I would give it a 4/5.Last year was a 4.5
I hate the concept of review bombing. I think its dishonest and in no way, shape, or form is this game a 1/5.
Of course its not a 5 either, so I accept player reviews as absolutely worthless. Gamers are petty and will review bomb a game because they feel its "woke" or some nonsense, but will 5* if they simply like a game.I agree that review bombing is wrong. Unless you feel that way. I do think it's a 1. It started off as a 3 with the horrible gaming issues, and went down hill from there.
There've been positives about some of the worst games I've ever played. Right now I'm debating whether I should teach myself Cricket until July. That means it's not worth what I paid for it. I got more enjoyment from my month of Skull and Bones, and that's a 2/5. To me, so far, this is an easy 1/5. I really do want it to be better, it's just not.

The biggest issue I honestly see is that SDS listened to the wrong crowd last year. They made a ton of changes based on the whining of a few people. I said it in another forum here, but I actually thought last yearās MLB the Show was my favorite they ever released. I played it more than any other version, and Iāve owned every version for about eight years.
I donāt mind this version because it comes off as ālast year liteā, but itās almost tooooo lite.
The technical issues plaguing the game this year are frustrating, but to me, itās 1000 times more frustrating, reading all the [censored] bitching about it. Some of the people on this forum have clearly never worked in any sort of tech industry or IT field. Honestly, Iām not sure any of them have ever even touched the computer.
I also hate the idea of rating bombing because it come off as disingenuous.

It pains me to say, but I mostly agree. This year has largely been...I dunno if I'd say a disaster, because I love baseball and I love playing this game despite its many problems. I'd say it's been more of a whelming reception. They didn't blow anyone away, they kinda ignored the things the vast majority were asking for while introducing things that nobody asked for (Lower XP cap and payouts).
The power creep I'm alright with, but I def think they could have released better cards than "diamonds" that are realistically just high golds. I also wasn't bothered by the useful 99's early on like last year either. I guess my issue is the rewards aren't worth the effort from the gameplay. For example, I'll just use the Spring Break showdown as an example. Costs 500 stubs to enter...say you have a bad second round, lose. Now you have to pay ANOTHER 500 stubs...and the rewards are 100, 100, 500 for a total of 700 stubs. you're now out 300 stubs. I know it's not the best example but it's the only one I have currently.
Another thing: the LS rewards...I recall when 10, 20, 30, and complete got you 500, 1000, 1500, and 2000(might have been 2500) stubs and a solid card. Now it's 1300 stubs total, and a mid at best card. If you're looking at the Dodgers, that's an insane cost for what amounts to little to nothing in return.
Just kinda feels like to they went from one extreme to the other because they listened to a small minority of people

Also, if you're going to drop 30-40k packs, at least make the cards top tier meta cards, lol. Most are mid and meh at best. It's not even worth the gamble.
This is where I disagree. The 30-40k packs GUARANTEE either an 89 or 92. If we are comparing to Madden at launch where max ovr is 87, they have 100k coin legend packs that you have a chance at getting only 78s. I opened a lot of them on Madden that were only 78s. For comparison sake, if those Madden packs were like the MLB packs, they would guarantee either an 87 full legend or an 84 that goes into the legend sets. The season 1 pack is 30k. The least valuable card you can get is Jonah heim and he goes for 13k. Your MAX loss is ā 18k after the 10% tax if you sell. You can also profit ā60k with an OāNeil Cruz. On madden, you can have a loss of 90k with a legends pack. Not to mention, MLB also has 1:5 odds of rare round, which comes out to 20% chance at the high ovr. Madden gives you about a 5% chance at the max ovr pull. Packs on MLB donāt even compare to the trash Madden puts out. Then with flipping and everything, itās a lot easier to recover your losses on MLB than it is Madden. MLB spoiled everyone in 21 to make the whole player base think everyone should get everything, and thatās just not reality.

I love this game, but the only way to change things is with our pocketbooks. Or, their pocketbooks.
I don't know about Xbox, but PS5 has a starred rating system. I just changed my rating from three to one. I urge those that are as frustrated in this years game to give your honest assessment as well. Currently 2/3 of ratings are 5 stars. I'll change it back if fixed, so should you. They don't want to listen to us. OK.
What's this have to do with capitalism?

Most of the 92 rated cards are what I like to call, ((((FRAUD)))) ratings, my guy. Cards that say they're 92 rated, but in reality they're actually worse than the 89's.
Allow me to take you to school. After I'm finished, maybe you and others will have a better understanding of what I'm saying.
SPRING CHICKEN PACK = 40K
Odds of getting the (((92))) rated player is 1:5 packs. You're allowed to buy 3 packs at 120k stubs spent...- 92 Ryne Sandberg = 52,990. The most expensive card goes for just 12,990 more than the cost of the pack!
But why is a ((((92)))) rated player so cheap?!
Bc his card is not that good!
Most are using (((FREE))) 85 Termarr Johnson. Why? Bc with the Buxton boost, Termarr goes from a 85 to a 90. Not only that, Termarr has better fielding, more speed, and more power than Ryne's (((92))) rated card!
If you study the numbers for 10 seconds, you'll see SDS turned a 92 rated card into literally an 83 rated card. Let's dive in!
Ryno Samdberg: 92 His card rating says (((92))) BUT, is he really a 92 rated card?
I consider both Con, both power, vision, and Clutch as the main hitting numbers. Everything else is irrelevant.
In regards to fielding, actual Fielding and reactions are the two most important stats.
Speed, well Speed itself is most important.Ryne Sandberg:
Con R: 102 = Diamond meta
Con L: 97 = Diamond Meta
Pow R: 84 = Gold
Pow L: 75 = Silver
Vision: 78 = Silver
Clutch: 99 = Diamond Meta
Overall rating = (((89))) His hitting is good, but it is NOT a 92 rated card! Ratings should be calculated by overall numbers, then divided by every hitting stat to determine the average overall number, like I just did there.FIELDING:
Fielding: 88
Arm: 72
Acc: 77
Reac: 74
Overall rating = (((77))) And if u look at the card, you'll see a (((GOLD SHIELD))) Umm, SDS, you fail yet again! This is a silver rated fielder, not gold.. Smh...Speed: 66 = too slow for a middle infielder, imo.
Now let's combine hitting and fielding, then let's see what this card really should be rated! Drumroll!!!!
Hitting = 89
Fielding = 77Overall card rating: 83
The fielding brings the overall card rating down. If speed was included, the rating for a 2nd baseman would be reduced to a (((77))) overall!
This proves SDS either thinks their playerbase are a bunch of special needs helmet wearing idiots!! Or they themselves are the actual idiots!!
Ryne Sandberg's shiny (((92))) rated card is actually a 83 rated card. Numbers don't lie, lol.
His 92 is worse than Termarr with the Buxton boost. Now, don't get me wrong, his contact itself is good and power isn't bad.
But, the card rating says 92 when in fact it's an 83 overall. Hos defense has a gold shield, when in fact it should be Silver.Anyway, do some research. I wouldn't pay 40k with a 1 in 5 chance to get a card I'll only make 10k selling. It's a flucking insult to my intelligence!
This is what I mean by the cards are NOT worth the heavy pack price! So how in the Fluck do you disagree?! You're argument literally has zero merit.
Madden is a different game. They have cards that sell in the millions! With stats that literally match their ratings. It's much much different. However, I agree that u could either get really happy or really depressed very quick. That's the price of gambling.
The 40k cost will still get u card that sells for 20k with a loss only at 20k. However, why even gamble the 20k when your most expensive pull goes for just 12k more than the pack???
Do you and anyone else understand now?
Do NOT be fooled by the ratings!
SDS has been creating fraud rating cards for years! Simple math by adding and dividing will show you what the card is really rated. - 92 Ryne Sandberg = 52,990. The most expensive card goes for just 12,990 more than the cost of the pack!

So the 99 Ruth with all 125s is actually wrong? He plays worse then his stats?
Did I say anything about George Herman Ruth?? And how is Babe Ruth even relevant in this conversation?
But since u brought him up...
Babe as a hitter is rated = 121, which is 22 points higher than 99..
Hitter: 121
Fielder: Overall rating is 80
Overall = 100.5I'm not even gonna do his pitching numbers. As a hitter and Fielder his rating is 100, lol.
I didn't say (EVERY) rating is a fraud. I just know when to recognize fraud ratings. -
@broken_toy1 Companies do not care about star ratings. FC & Madden are constantly rated 1/5 and still the most sold games every year.
Speak with your wallet, don't buy the game and don't buy stubs
