I know...and I am not disagreeing with you. You offer good input. I am just saying it is ok to disagree, abeit a little more elegantly. lol -

So tell me, other than some lucky pulls from earned packs, which is a rare occurrence, how are people supposed to earn stubs for these packs?
Guess no stubs for me this year, I hurt (several)things just watching that.

I think it's somewhat funny (strange like) that people were livid last year because of all the early high diamond cards, and now they're livid because of the lack of good cards.
I think you are missing a lot of the arguments here.
People last year complained all year that the program rewards were not as good as shop rewards. So that's not new. And between spring breakout, TA, and Easter there are definitely some good cards to be found that can compete with the higher pack cards.
However, the amount of pack cards is increasing, and the amount of free cards is decreasing substantially. Just because Topps Now cards werent 'meta' in the past doesnt mean they should be cut in half. I know I'm not the only one who enjoyed using the Drew Maggis of the world in their offline play. And they bolstered theme teams as well, I used Brandon Nimmo online right up until his finest dropped.
-
It really feels like the offline players are getting screwed this year in this game. We could complete collections and programs just by getting the cards you got playing offline. This year feels like they are trying to force everyone into online play modes as well as spending money to get packs or stubs. Just feels like the amount of free cards from completing programs, conquests, and mini seasons is nothing compared to years past. Add that to having most extra xp available only in multiplayer modes, a lower xp cap, lower xp rewards, and you get a game that went from being by far the best ultimate team mode for offline players to just another fully focused on taking your money and forcing you into online.
Also, what happened to all the ways to earn the packs to possibly pull the cards that they are only releasing in special packs alongside programs. Not even one pack at the end of the program to have a chance at the better cards?

Reading through this thread, I am amazed that people aren't even a little bit embarrassed by throwing a toddler's tantrum and stomping their feet because they can't immediately have all the cards in the game just two weeks in. Is this really important enough to spend so much energy to look so ridiculous? Really. Those of you flailing against the walls because your one-time purchase of a video game doesn't entitle you to a free and constant stream of never-ending content that you deem worthy should be ashamed of yourselves for being so petty.
Is SDS really greedy because you can only grind for four Captain packs and have to buy four others with in-game currency that no one forces you to pay real money for, or do you think that the real definition of greed is something closer to the compulsion to have all of the Captain packs and the saltiness you exude when you can't have all the things you want, right now? Think that the over 250 diamond cards that exist exactly 2 weeks after launch is insufficient? Perhaps you should meditate on what the word "greed" really means...

I am so done with some of you who want to make excuses for this garbage behavior cause it went from having to WORK for the cards ( grinding - no problem with that ) to how many stubs you have once content is released mixed in with a little bit of grindings. Why is it impossible for some fans to get this simple point ?

You are only taking form it what you want to see.
My biggest issue is the drop in content when compared to last year.
The increase in shop cards make it even worseLast year I was delaying Topps Now some weeks because I had plenty of other things to do. This year that is not remotely the case.
So I would argue my issue is more that I already have all the (offline) cards, not that I don't have them all.
And while they cant release enough cards to keep up with "content locusts", they should be keeping pace with last year and not slashing it. -
@blitz77tw Seriously. None of us are asking to be handed every single card. We just want the ability to grind for them through gameplay and not having to spend all day on the marketplace flipping cards just to have enough stubs to get the cards that are only available through packs that rely heavily on RNGs.

Did you read my post -- I mean really read it -- cause I said I had ZERO issue with grinding for stuff but now they go for our stub wallet with a tiny bit of grinding. -- LOL

The sad thing is that I don’t actually mind spending money but when I don’t feel like the return is worth it than I don’t have much interest in spending money. I definitely spent a lot of money last year. The reason was because some of the cards were actually worth it. I’m definitely not spending a bunch of money for 89-92 OVR cards just so then I can collect a 99 card.
-
@Shauwn it's literally what NHL does and partially why no one plays it. MLB is a top-10 game annually, they do not need to do this
-
Seems like it's now going to be impossible to get enough cards to get any of the season collection reward 99s without buying (a bunch of) packs from the shop.
This thing of cutting programs by half is going to box no money spent players out of the standard collection rewards people put their time into playing the game to earn, unless they start putting like 20k stub milestones in the program reward path. -
@betamax0
Seems like it will be impossible to even complete the season XP path with how much they have nerfed XP. 15k daily xp cap is insane.
-
Love it or hate it, I really think SDS is using this year as a test of the tolerance of the player base. It’s a bit of a titration of what people will pay to play the game and at what point the player base declines. I’m curious if it was a one-person decision at SDS. I’ve played for quite a few years, paying a lot of money because I have OCD tendencies, but the only thing positive I can really say about the game this year is that servers seem more stable. Other than the first few hours of early release, I haven’t noticed many hiccups. Unfortunately that’s my only positive so far. The low XP cap, little content, expensive packs with low odds, no sell rewards, continued seasonal sets that will require you to pay to get all 3 reward cards, etc are all just very disappointing. I hope it changes but I’m not sure that the whole year hasn’t already been predetermined and locked in. We may be down to zero major sports games that aren’t using this model. It needs to be give and take and not take take.
-
@The_Joneser Well hey Im sure ill get a participation trophy if I dont hit a million xp or finish collection for S1.
-
@blitz77tw Yeah I was agreeing with you. That we all have no problem with the grind.

Yep, I played HUT as well. It's a little less extreme than MUT and FUT, but still bad. It wasn't always so bad.

This game is turning or perhaps already turned into a pay to win piece of trash. To top things off, most of the cards they want you to pay for will be unusable after season 1.

@MetalDoc17
Glad I am not the only one with "OCD Tendencies"...lol ... This baseball game gets me every year. Don't get me started with my lineup finickiness.
