why are they greedy? I usually don't follow the DD politics. Last year they gave us all 99s day 1. I think many of us didnt like that. Is that why they're being called greedy? because now we have to progress thru DD like other years except for last year?
Just NO -- are you really going to -- my mind is about to short circuit from the stupidity of this comment alone -- I am done -- SDS kiss BEEP just go away
-
@LuvMyXBOX pretty sure they are referencing to all the good stuff being behind a paywall now
-
@blitz77tw ok [censored]. like i said i don't follow DD politics. just asking a question. go outside and see the sun once in a while why don't you
-
Yeah, I paid $100 bucks for this game that apparently I need to pay hundreds of more dollar to be able to use the content. Dang I used to really love this game. But I am not this stupid. I'm not buying any of these packs. And I'm hoping another baseball game comes out next year.
-
I seriously doubt any of you are going to rage quit on The Show. Calm down and just don't buy the packs. You do realize most of the best cards are the ones you have to grind to get.
-
@GMAT22
Ok, but grinding for those xp rewards is brutally sloooooow. For example, last night I played six mini-season games for xp and only earned less than 5k xp points.In addition to nerfing xp, the ai makes it even more difficult to build stats by throwing less quality pitches to hit... It's either too many balls or dotting the black with perfect pitches, regardless of the level.

No, because more and more they are putting what used to be freely earned through programs into packs.
I try to stay positive, even to the point that I have been called a shill a few times. But I see nothing positive about this new format.
The new Season Award Drops get us 4 cards earnable in the program.
88 Trout
88 Colt Keith
88 Ohtani
91 Garret CrochetRarely, of ever were there only ever 4 Topps Now cards in a week. And lets not fool ourselves. Trout and Ohtani are there to try and silence the discontent.
Now they have added the other cards to a pack that is 30K stubs which comes with two 92 overall cards and three 89 cards. So these cards are better than the free cards and there is one more of them.
I mean the push to get people to buy expensive packs was evident last year but I feel like they elevated it to a new level this year. More and more the game is telling all of us that stubs are the way to advance, not playing the game.
I'm truly expecting expensive packs with the best players in every program now.

EA and 2K are free to make a game anytime they wish. Nobody has an exclusive license. EA chose to make Mega Baseball and 2K go wiped out by an exclusive to Sony game before. I’d love to see what they make. Especially when their NFL and NBA games are worse at microtransaction than this game ever has been.
-
@fubar2k7 I know it's a completely different type of baseball game, but I do like OOTP on the PC. Even they have some microtransaction stuff now.

if those 2 companies made baseball games ppl would be building shrines to SDS in their homes. It would be like you didnt know you had it so good until it was taken away.

@Stiebfan37
I blame whatever leadership took over last year ('23). ...I doubt that person is even a fan of this game, but rather some corporate suit brought in by Sony to "increase revenue" at all costs. I have purchased and played this game for many years, and these last two years have been pretty brutal in regards to user/consumer friendly content. Expiring cards, weaker grinding rewards, the best cards only obtainable through packs, etc. -

Out of the Park's Franchise mode is the best.
Their perfect team mode, at least in previous years, has definitely felt like an extremely pay to win model. You were not getting cards needed to compete at the upper levels simply through playing the mode.
-
@LuvMyXBOX
Because tye best cards are locked behind stubs, that’s called being greedy. They started it last year and have continued it, spend stubs or you can’t get the best cards. -

Monthly Awards and Topps Now were great grinds and program. This franchise has jumped the shark with 24. Horrible Content, Telling You when your done playing for the day, and the worst customer service Ive ever dealt with. If they were smart they would right the ship sooner than later.

I'm truly expecting expensive packs with the best players in every program now.
Spring Breakout: small program - 2 packs
Seoul Series: 1 free card, no content, pack
Fresh Start: Pack only (which is a huge waste because its a great idea for a series of cards)
Easter: Fun program, pack
Topps Now: smaller than last year (not to mention removal of PotM as a program), packSo yes, every program so far has had a pack, and two additional packs where there should have programs
To make it worse, the Topps Now pack isnt even a choice pack.
Maybe Weekly Wonders will have shop packs too, if it even gets brought back.

You do realize the season is 5 days old right?

Of course. The game has been out for over two weeks now, nearly 3 weeks for preorders
There was more program content for WBC last year than there is in the entire program list so far this year.
THERE IS NO DEFENSE FOR LACK OF CONTENT SO FAR. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that this new season awards would be significant. And they release a program smaller than a typical Topps Now week, even though its supposed to be two programs in one.

Granted it is not technically a paywall but you know what he meant. The best cards in the current "Drop" are in a 30K stub pack with only a 1:5 chance to actually get a 92+ Diamond card.
Meanwhile more and more freely earned cards are "No Sell" making it that much harder to earn the stubs needed for those packs.
Freely Earned cards from Spring Chicken Program are No Sell.
Freely Earned cards from the Egg Hunt Program are No Sell
Freely Earned Cards from the Season Awards Drops are No Sell
Freely Earned Cards from the Season XP timeline are No SellSo tell me, other than some lucky pulls from earned packs, which is a rare occurrence, how are people supposed to earn stubs for these packs?
