J.P. Crawford’s rating
-
In TS24, J.P. Crawford who had the following stats last year:
5.1 WAR
818 OPS
131 OPS+
19HR
94 BB (led the AL)
Finished 16th in MVP voting
…..is only rated a 70. This is an egregious underrating and needs to be fixed -
Honestly I wouldn’t even bother complaining there rating system and upgrade system in DD specifically has been a lot of favoritism and not based on real life
-
@Onekillerforce Yea fair, felt nice to vent lol.
-
@HealNatricParis Totally understand I’ve been there, people will try and defend SDS but if you actually do your own research it becomes clear it is mostly made up by ads to “balance” the online experience
-
It's hard to know where and if they shafted him without seeing the individual ratings to see which of his individual ratings are lower. He did have a -0.1 Defensive WAR at a position where SDS weights defense higher in the overall rating.
I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve to be higher just pointing out something to look at when we can see all of his ratings.
-
I posted about the attributes too, but they moved it to off topic. Just a lot of inconsistencies. I hope they go more into detail about how they come up with them.

While we don't know the details, or how much they may tweak them a few things we have been told in the past.
-
It's a 3 year average with the last year being 50% and the two previous years being 25% of the overall rating.
-
Positions have different weighting scales. For example SS, CF and probably second base have a bigger portion of their rating determined by their defense. While 1B and RF, for example, have less of an emphasis on defense and more on their Power stats.
It is not a perfect system at all. It pigeonholes players into archetypes based on the position they play. What it does mean is that when comparing players you should always compare players whose primary positions are the same.
Now, it has been a long time since they gave us those little tidbits of info so they may have changed their methodology. We also know that there are some subjective calls made by the team (just look at their cover athlete last year)

Where did you get this rating from?

My guess is that they got them from Seattle Mariners on theshowratings which has the entire team but also states in their text
Below are the Mariners' 40-man Roster with their MLB The Show 24 Ratings. Please note that apart from the top 5 players, the overall rating of many others have not been officially revealed, and as such, they may differ in the actual game.
So in other words, that site is probably trying to make educated guesses.
-
Until the game is out, if it doesn't come from theshow.com, one of our streams or our socials channels, it is likely speculation.
Vast majority of official ratings have yet to be released outside of those revealed during the Ratings Reveal Show and a handful of very limited players.
-
@collin_sds
Can you review how the player ratings WILL BE formulated when the official ratings are released? Or even just how/what formula have they been adjusted in past seasons maybe?
-
@HealNatricParis should be at least a 83. His power isn't great, but he's a good player overall

@collin_sds https: //www.theshowratings.com/jp-crawford
it says 70 overall in the show 24. -

I said it in the other thread. Right now please only view TheShow.com, MLB The Show social channels, our streams or official MLB accounts as the only people who have accurate information.

Im glad that was cleared up. Was gonna ask the same thing. How does he know his rating. I know his DD card would be higher. His LS rating to end 23 was a 75. But we dont know what any of those ratings will be. We only saw the top guys from Franchise ratings.
-
@collin_sds Gotcha

It actually states that they dont know the ratings at the top. "Please note that apart from the top 5 players, the overall rating of many others have not been officially revealed, and as such, they may differ in the actual game."
Their ratings are horrible lol. Yanier Diaz a 65 and Jose Abreu an 83, Lance McCullers 84. lmao.
