Ohtani torn UCL

again. I believe he hit that last bomb with it torn also. All that arm fatigue and cramping he had been having and even skipped a start. His velocity across all his pitches had dropped and he kept on forcing it. I truly hate this but I don’t think for a moment it’ll effect his MVP even if he’s out for the year.
Here’s the thing. He’s a unicorn and not even a one trick uni pony he’s like the great steed that Alexander rode into battle….Bucephalus!!! Even if the man never pitches again he’s still easily a a top tier DH whom, should he decide to stop pitching (we ALL knew he’d eventually have to stop), he could quite easily transition into the OF (only if he wanted) but even if he decided not to do that he’s still worth the big $$$ and I think he’ll still do quite, quite well come contract time.
The Dodgers have been courting Shohei since he was a freshman in HS and I think this changes nothing concerning his desirability….and, in my opinion, that remains true IF no player had ever come back from a second Tommy John (many, many have and with great success) because, were that the case, he’d have just rewritten the book on that too, I deem.Edit: @PAinPA_PSN im sorry for the double post

You knew I'd reply to this one...
I agree and disagree. He'll still command the highest overall contract ever. But it'll cap below seasonally because of Judge's 40M X 9Y overly huge payday and this. Maybe 40M X 10-12. My guess is 10-12 years and 400M-500M. Angels, Yankees, and Mets still in at those rates. Dodgers in just below those rates. Dodgers wanted the pitcher Shohei when he was in HS and have plenty of OF prospects. LA/OC have a high Japanese transplant rate and a huge Asian community in general.
Thinking pragmatically, I believe he'll stay with the Angels now. I was sure he was going to the Dodgers before. If there's one thing we can all agree with, it's that he loves his Angel teammates.

Yes I had hoped you would sound off ,and I’m glad you have. This Gobi desert of lull in content has made it a real slog on the forum lately. I appreciate your point of view and would absolutely love it if he stays with the Angels. I still think being a Dodger would benefit Ohtani simply because of the tradition of excellent pitching there that has, pretty much, always been a thing. Imagine Koufax working with him every day teaching him his dark arts! I just had a fleeting thought….imagine Shohei reborn as a knuckleballer lol…one things for sure and that’s the fact that he’ll accomplish just about anything that he puts his mind to!
