I’m seeing a bit of buzz on the wires about a potential deal that’ll send Scherzer to the Rangers…oh my this’ll be sweet for us if we get these two!

edit: sounds like it’s a done deal

How about Texas landing Montgomery from the Cardinals as well! I’m hoping to see a few more decent moves before the 1st at 6pm!
-
Blue Jays got Jordan Hicks. Great for that bullpen
-
Not surprised with the Cardinal moves so far. They were expected to get rid of Montgomery and Hicks (and guess Stratton). Picked up four young pitchers and a infielder. Nothing to write home about but gives them some depth and frees up some money.
I kind of still expect them to get rid of Flaherty and maybe DeJong. Many fans, including myself, won't be sorry to see Flaherty go if he gets traded.
None of the players picked up will make much of an impact on their 2024 lineup though. The big question will be what to do with the money they free up by not extending these players, plus the added money after Wainwright retires. Since the season is a write off and we have traded one starter with the possibility of another they'll probably keep running Wainwright out there. I hope they can somehow get him the last two wins he needs for 200 in his career.

I keep hearing on the Mets games about how much Verlander loves living and being in NY so I’m starting to wonder if he’ll take off to LA or even Texas/Houston….what about Baltimore? I’m no geography expert but I know it’s decently close to NY…can you imagine if the Orioles were to pick him up? He’s definitely not the player he once was but I’d still put him as a top starter in the majors…especially his last 7-8 starts he’s been extremely solid
-
No surprise that Jerry Dipoto is wheelin' and dealin' today!
Sad to see Paul Sewald be traded, but AJ Pollack didn't live up to expectations.
-
I didn’t expect the Rays to get Civale man what a solid rotation that’ll give them. Jeimer Candelario to the Cubbies was a VERY nice pickup indeed

From the cubs perspective: the Phillies haven't played to their potential all year injuries hurt them and they are vulnerable, the Marlins can't hit,and the Reds are a fluke soon to go like the pirates, that's 3 of their competitors right there...

Very true, but the Phillies still scare me with that lineup and even then the Cubs still have to pass the Giants, Diamondbacks and Brewers. However i would love to see my favorite team make the playoffs again and maybe the Cubs can resign Candelario.

Todays the day. Gimme something spectacular let’s see some moves like Jagger
For anyone interested here’s a link to everything so far

Just a little shy of 4.5 hours left to go….
-
Justin Verlander back to the Astros
-
Paul DeJong to Toronto. I almost feel, at this point, that Toronto should be my secondary team with the ex-Cardinals there now

Mets have gotten some serious blue chips in the past few weeks. I’m especially giddy regarding getting us some of that sweet Acuña talent

We got Verlander back. See y'all in the World Series again. Sorry about your Mets Bunny. They will be last in the East in a couple of weeks.

Dodgers had a deal in place for Eduardo Rodriguez but he vetoed it. Guess he wants to stay in Detroit
-
Lots of talk about Flaherty to the Orioles. No details yet though.
-
This is going to take some time to process! Looks like the Marlins picked up Josh Bell and Jake Burger. How about the Braves picking up Brad Hand! Nasty. I need about two days myself to mentally process all of these moves! Mets had them a fire sale I hate we’ve had such a horrible season but I wish Pham all the luck with the Dbacks…Verlander back with the Astros and Sherzer to the Rangers that’s going to be interesting come playoff time!
Dodgers look like the winners to me (this seasons trades) but we shall see how it pans out! How exciting I love baseball!
