In real life I would probably punch an umpire in the face or throw a chair. Neither option available so that's the immaturity level the complete sham this gameplay can be drives me too. "get gud" SDS.

Throw a chair through your wall at home. There are a lot of options.

I think competitive online gaming breeds discontent among most men who engage in it and only leads to toxic behavior. Due in large part from the mechanics of the gameplay. I'm personally an offline guy because of my blood pressure concerns (thanks FIFA) and I'm no longer a young man. I also have found success in real life to where beating someone else online does nothing to improve my well being. I think for the people who rage so much that it affects your physical and mental health, should balance it out with a variety of other modes and not just competitive play. Maybe try RTTS in between DD.

Maybe we've started a movement. In the last 2 RS games I've played my opponents have quit due to me taking a lead late.

One was due to the 'ol guy on third - suicide squeeze that seems to always work. I scored to tie it, and then hit a dinger that I actually thought I checked-swing on.

Just a horrible mess this game can be. Sorry for your frustration opponents..I didn't write this swill.

I'll quit event of BR games if I get down early. Not out of rage, just time conservation. If I know I can't come back why drag it out for both of us.

I rarely quit RS games, you'll have to mercy me.

Not slamming your post..just questioning. If you quit BR games because of time conversation and it's a 3-inning game why wouldn't you quit RS which, unfortunately, can go a painful, and quite irritating, 16 innings just to see yourself lose 1-0.

On that note, I just wish the AI would queue us before those long-drawn-out-joke 16-18 inning affairs like I just mentioned get going.

Something like "Player, you are about to lose nearly an hour of your life in this game only to fall, or perhaps win this AI controlled SuperHuman Pitcher affair" Give us a chance to say "Uh, no I'm going to sit this one out".

Because in a 9 inning game lot of things can happen. I can chip away at a 3 or 4 run deficit. In a three inning game that's a lot less likely.

Also there's no penalty to a 3 inning quit other than having to start a new run.

Because the sterotype about gamers is mostly true. Most these guys have no life outside playing videogames. So they like to sit there and run up the score and waste your time.

Screw that. I work 60 hours a week. I have no time for that non sense. So if I do play online (which I haven't done in years) I'll just leave if I know I can't come back.

Funny story. I forget what game is what. I think it was madden. And I was getting destroyed. But dude kept throwing deep and trying to run up the score. So I hit pause and just left the system run for like 8 hours. while I stuff to do. The amount of hate messages I got from him and his friends were comical. He waited hours before backing out.

Nice post. I totally agree with most of it. I personally, though, don't get so much satisfaction out of winning RS games. I consider it a necessary evil.

It's just the fact I like a lot of the elements of DD and you almost HAVE to play against online opponents to reach those goals. I would rather not play RS, but it really makes much of the Diamond-chasing near impossible if you don't.

Same thing with FIFA Soccer..Ultimate Team It's equally abysmal as far as online play goes against other players. Just another AI controlled experience. But, FIFA is even more weighted than The Show on pushing the player-vs-player games in order to build an "Ultimate Team".

I can, for the most part, stomach the challenges like Showdown, Conquest, and such. Because when I play those I know it's me against the AI. The rage factor (anxiety) is almost nil.

Again, nice post. Great when someone actually posts some humanizing stuff without going on attack or slandering the game. Which I'm guilty of so very often. 🙂

And, I have done your very suggestion. Taken breaks to play RTTS and Franchise mode. They are fun for awhile, but just don't have the same dynamics and attraction of card-chasing. There really is something addictive about the pursuit of those freakin' diamond cards. Ha.

ha read my other post. I slam this game all the time. I'm absolutely sicken by what they have done with it. I'm not a fan of online at all. 1. I'm not great at it. and 2. I can't stand how serious people take it. But unless you play online this game feels empty and unfinished.

I mean, in MOST online competitive games, 50% of the population leaves unhappy, right? That’s just unacceptable in today’s world. If I don’t win, something’s wrong.

Can't let this sit unaddressed. Not at all what most of us are suggesting.

I believe most folks out here that complain about a game that puts 2 opponents in competition with one another, but let the AI decide the outcome. And you know you're losing to the AI..not the opponent. That, my friend, is the frustration.

I've ran my entire life. Got into many 5 k's, then 1/2 marathons, and then marathons and seldom finished first. But, that never-ever upset me. Because I knew I was giving my best, so was everyone else, but some were just better genetically engineered to beat my a$$. And I have zero problem with that. Never did I go into a rage after an event and start venting online to the event organizers.

You're comparing apples to oranges. competition to artificial intelligence generated animation. Huge difference, and no offense intended.

^This, RS is already a grind before you factor in the people trying to cheese, troll or pause their way to victory and some flawed mechanics. It drains you mentally, simply due to the level of focus you need to have in order to be successful, you need to give your brain a rest. I am glad my kids are home, it keeps me from playing all day, now I only get a chance to play 1 or 2 games a day and it's so much better. I am actually mentally refreshed and focused for the games I do play and have seen much greater success in my online games.

Another honest and soul-searched response. I believe anyway. Couldn't have said it better. The more of these type shares I read the more I realize...I should find something else to consume my time that isn't as stressful and unfulfilling.

Believe I'm going to go fly my drone around for awhile, play with my dog, do some hiking, maybe even play a game of chess with my daughter. Although I do get bummed when she beats me, mainly because I can't blame it on the AI. Ha.

Believe me when you do come back to playing the game you wont be as frustrated and stressed, I don't think it helps that everyones been stuck at home for close to a month either lol. They need to open up some businesses soon and we all need to get back to work, for our own sanity lol. It looks like "curves" are flattening around the world so hopefully its not to much longer before we can go back to being regular human beings again lol

Why I even try to play counterpoint on this trash is silly..on my part. But, I'm surprised that someone that writes such dribble can even spell "winner".

Go troll on Twitter, there are some folks out there that got the words to humble the best $hit-starters.

Exactly this. Im 16-3 and alot of those are come from behind wins. im not gonna dip out when things get tough. Its a 9 inning game and A LOT can happen. ive scored 8 runs in an inning to come back before. Plus it makes the wins alot sweeter when you take it from them while trailing.
