RE: MLB The Show 22 Ideas

I want them to actually put work into RTTS. Gives us a true experience that makes it feel like we are controlling a major league player. Give our player a personality trait that can change depending on our actions. Then interviews can matter. Give us an agent who actually does something useful. Like get us endorsement deals. You could have some diamond gear that can only be unlocked by signing with X company and doing challenges. Get rid of this dumb podcast thing. It's so uninteresting and pointless. Instead how about an actually story mode that can play out during our time in the minors. They are such a dull and boring grind. Nobody likes to play those games. This would at least add something to it. And also I'd love to see a Co Op mode for RTTS. For example my buddy and I go through pre draft work outs together, get drafted, he plays on his team and I play on mine. It would be fun to face each other when our teams play. Or compete for season awards against each other.

I'd also like to see them update franchise and make it worth playing again.

RE: What do you want in RTTS 20

I'd say this list is now geared towards 2021 and next gen. But who knows. Maybe we'll be surprised.

    1. Online RTTS - I want to play a career with a friend. We work out together, compete against each other if we share the same position. Watch each others draft stock raise and fall. Then we can either be drafted to the same team or different teams. From there we just play our careers as your normally would.

    2. I want to see news updates. It can be a MLB website, newspaper or whatever else. I want to see/read about big game moments, trades and trade rumors, maybe some player made a comment and it's "headline news" really anything. Injiries etc etc

    3. I want to see a personality meter. Interviews, social media interactions, fan interactions etc all effect how our player is viewed. This in turn effects our market value. How teammates view us and how fans view us. Maybe have a cut scene were our character is out to lunch. A fan wants a selfie. Give us options. And there would be pros and cons for all the different personality types.

    4. I get baseball is a long season. Asking for a story mode is pretty much impossible. But how about a mini story that follows your career through the minors? Or at the very least do something with the farm system. It's so boring. It almost ruins the mode. At least for me. Real stadiums for starters (or this is were create a stadium would be handy) Make the minors feel like the minors. Why not give us a different broadcast team? NBA not only give you different teams for different NBA games. But their smaller leagues even have broadcast teams just for those leagues.

    5. Signing an agent, have off the field actions, signing with real life companies. I love the fact we can buy gloves, cleats etc for our players. Go a step better. How about certain items can only be unlocked by reaching different tiers with different companies. And again this is something your personality meter effects. Or something our agent effects.

    6. I agree with the comment above. Our play should effect our where we end up on the roster. I also want to see more work put into spring training. I skip right through it. It just doesn't really seem to effect anything really. Also... what about adding the Arizona fall league? Why is this not already in the game?

    7. A sandlot mode would be fun. Maybe not a big city to run around in like NBA. Not sure how that would work. But taking our players into a sandlot game would be fun. Even if it's only 3vs3 or 4v4 or 5v5. The rest of the team would be AI controlled.

    8. I also like the idea of having our RTTS guy being portable into DD. Even though I'm not a DD player much myself. It would be fun watching our overall ratings and our DD card grow as we progress in RTTS.

I hate how NBA2k almost forces you to buy VC to upgrade. But at least that mode offers a lot of great things with it. I want to see The Show go in that direction. But frankly... I feel like it's going more of the way EA is with it's Madden series. RTTS and Franchise are after thoughts. DD gets all the hype, the updates etc. Hopefully that changes this year.

    What a giant disappointment

Does anything else think this mode is a giant flop?

Why can't we search for stadiums by name, best rated, theme etc. It's just a bunch of crappy stadiums lumped into one thing. Scrolling through I see the same stadium a couples times in the first few pages. Someone really dropped the ball here.

Maybe I'm missing it. But why can't we put signs on the walls? The walls look plain and boring. Can't even put the homerun line along the top. And speaking of walls. No tarps or anything to add detail.. Why can't we adjust anything outside the foul poles? The rounded corners make putting seating in extremely annoying. But that's a whole different topic, The seating placement is horrid. The walls and seating should snap together. Get these stupid gaps everywhere. I want to create unique corners and seating areas.

And why are all the bullpens along the field. What maybe 2 teams still do this is real life? Maybe I'm missing it again, is there an option to change this? I hate the super wide foul ball areas.

Though there are some really cool aspects of this mode. There are a ton of things that thing to be fixed. Those upset you can't get it if your not on next gen. Don't be. Its something to mess around in. But it's nothing special imo

@thefalconknee_psn said in Well you guys ruined the mode that I started playing MLB The Show for.:

To me, RTTS has been completely neutered. I'm extremely disappointed in how it plays now (50 overall caps on every attribute? really SDS?).

I never used CAPs previously in DD, but now I can't make a RTTS character be as good as I want in this system. I also can't create more than one character and have to use my one created player for everything, which is a huge disappointment. Lastly, removing sounds of the show on PS5 and not being able to upload custom walk up music/HR music is just bad and I feel like SDS really is just killing single player offline modes in favor of DD.

Now, I also play DD too, but killing off RTTS like this feels like they're taking it behind the shed with a shotgun. If I was offline only, I'd just stick to MLB 20.

Waited.. seriously? I haven't even noticed. If this is true, I'm going to be pissed. I always create one position player and one pitcher. When I want to pitch, I load that one. And vic versa.

I'm sure there is a way to raise the cap. I honestly am so disguised with the mode, I barely played it. But I'm sick of the caps. I'm sick of being restricted. They claim they want realism in their game. Yet give us no real world options that ball players have to deal with. And last I checked, players can't be a power hitter one game then a speed burner the next. Seriously SDS what the hell are you guys doing? There needs to be some people losing their job,

RE: We are investigating the server issue and working to get it resolved. 4/27

And this is why you don't combined single player modes into online modes. The servers issues wouldn't be a big deal, If I could still grind RTTS. But the only real way to leave your character up is by earning dumb perks. Which you need to be connected to servers for. So yeah. 3 gamemodes are unplayable and the other hasn't changed since MLB the Show 17. Nice job SDS

RE: The worst RTTS to date.

In theory I think it's a cool idea to use your RTTS in DD. But they way they did it was extremely dumb. This stupid perk [censored] is dumb. I want the old system. You earn points, you spend points on the upgrades you want. Now what, you train once and week to try to earn "perk packs" smh. SDS is clueless.

I want a legit career mode. Meaning picking my agent, making contacts and money have meaning. Signing endorsement deals, having a social feed that is worth putting in the game. Nobody asked for some [censored] podcast that most people will just skip anyways. This is by far the worse game is in the series that I've played in 10 years.

@ComebackLogic said in It blows my mind SDS cant fix these bugs. Loosing ALOT of players.:

Exact same thing happened to me earlier, suffered through a game where I was winning 1-0 and taking a no hitter into the 8th, he ties it of course and we carry on flailing about into extras, because nobody can hit the ball with these stupid settings anyway, then he gets handed the win by hitting a line drive off the wall that was called a walk off home run. What’s the point even playing this stupid broken piece of [censored] game? Collecting cards? You could give me a free Trout or 99 Mantle right now and I wouldn’t even care, they’d just drop the ball near the outfield wall like a dummy and be hitting .190 because the game is set up terribly. That totally ruins the whole game, because there’s zero incentive to build a team or try to compete at all.

    https://m.twitch.tv/clip/HonestColorfulCobblerAMPEnergy

That pretty much sums this game up in 2 words. Collecting cards. Everything is geared towards that. It's laughable

RE: Is There Any Hope for RTTS?

They took a class at EA's business 101.

Franchise has been untouched in 3 years. When they finally do give us something, it's this copy and paste feature from DD. They didn't expand on it or make it fit the mode.

And now RTTS gets a bunch of lipstick. The [censored] with bring "instant gains" to the forefront is them saying, hey we did nothing new. But we want to make it look like we did. It takes what, 5-10 mins to finish one game in RTTS. You seriously telling me players can't wait to see their gains? Nobody asked for this and it just makes the mode more arcade like.

And the personality thing is dumb. A person should have ONE personality, not 4. And while the on field relationships are a nice touch.. this is not or should not be a featured feature. It's glorified team chemistry.

They could have changed the Bowman scout day. This is something we've been doing in RTTS since I can remember. It's old, boring and outdated. It's not even a real event. The draft needs serious work. Our "agent" is pointless. Social media is pointless, the who style of RTTS is extremely dumb. If they went full blown with it, and this was a thing looking back on your career or something. Sure it could be fun. But it's completely random and its been the same thing for 3 years. Instead of possible winning gear pack with boss battles... why not allow our agent to find us a deal with a certain brands. And as we promote those brands on and off the field, they reward us with new and better gear? That is so much more realistic. Interviews and social media interaction could factor into our personality. Are we loved by fans? Hated? These things could factor into our trade value, how well our jersey's sale. Which effects contracts. Speaking of contracts. Why not reward us with stubbs based on how much we make? Look at 2k as a perfect example of this. Yes their VC can be thrown in your fact and almost feel forced. But at least they try to add new things and mix it up every year.

But hey!! We get 30 new legends and even a new mode with DD. Hell, get weekly and monthly updates also!! I love grinding on challenges to earn cards, then play people who spend really money to get cards that are just as good if not better. What makes it even more fun is these people sometimes have way more time to invest in the game and destroy me. Yeah it's a blast!!

I keep seeing people suggest this. Personally I think it's a bad idea. In theory it sounds fun. But think about it. You're playing say RF. You get a ball hit to you what, a few times a game? Get a few bats in. Most of the time you're going to be sitting there watching.

Sad to see they didn't fix the draft.

I wasn't going to even waste a dime on this game. But because we are locked at home with no baseball. I caved. Glad to see they did absolutely nothing to fix RTTS. In last years game I got drafted by Baltimore 5 straight times. This year, I was drafted by them the first go. Went back to college and then drafted by the Tigers the next 4 times. Doing the same boring "topps showcase" time and time again to get the exact same result. Does this thing even truly impact draft stock? Doesn't seem like it.

    Fix your game SDS! seriously.

RE: How/WHY did they leave out...?

Because they are lazy. Because they only care about finding new ways to milk people for money with these stupid pointless card packs. All other modes are barebone. I was pumped they finally added this feature. And I thought for sure this year we could really make some amazing parks. They did nothing. This is my last MLB the show. I wanted to give them one more chance. Baseball is my favorite sport and I've been buying this series since like 2013. Plus I wanted my updated Mets roster. But this game is trash unless you're a DD player.

    Reset Dynamic diff

I started a new RTTS character. I want to reset my dynamic difficulty settings. Doesn't seem to be an option to just do it. I changed my play style from sim to casual, didn't work. I delete my game settings from my system storage all together. Still where it was when I loaded back in. It should not be this freaking hard to change a simple setting. I don't want to be pitching/hitting on hall of fame with a 65 overall player. Is there a trick to this? I don't understand why its not there from the start.

    RE: Nothing really new...

It's a joke how little they put into things year to year. I wasn't expecting some massive over haul for stadium creator. But they did absolutely nothing. Wow! change the interface a bit and added night games. Something that should have been there day one of last year) I would be more understand if one of the other modes got a big face lift. But they did not.

    RE: Thoughts on RTTS?

Its garbage. it's extremely unrealistic and boring. The who perk system is dumb as hell. No interviews, no agent, no nothing. Its simply playing game after game trying to get AB, hits, stolen bases etc to level your perk points or whatever you want to call them.

RE: can you go multiple season this year

You can. But the off season in MTO is so half [censored] put together. And you don't get the XP rewards at all star break and whatrnot. So frankly, its just a waste of time. SDS put it in there so they could say they did what the fans ask. But the lack of team control and no rewards, makes it completely pointless to play beyond year one.

    RE: Unrealistic Expectations

Back when MLB the Show 16 released. We were given this narrative story line stuff . Not a fan myself. But they said each year they would be adding and expanding on it. So I wanted give them a chance. Since the release of that game we've 2 major changes. And both are horrible. The annoying podcast that serve no purpose what so ever. And this absolutely horrible perk/archetype system. So in 6 years they've made two changes and neither of them are any good or make the mode a realistic big league experience.

They haven't fixed the bowman scout day or made it better. (in fact I think they got rid of it last year) they still have yet to add interviews, off field choices, endorsement deals, agents. They've added nothing that makes this game mode better. All we ask is give us something similar to NBA 2k and their myplayer game mode. No that is far from perfect. But at least they try.

Hell last years game had a glitch where your stats wouldn't even count towards your progress. And they never even bothered to fix it.

RE: The same terrible perk system.

I was really hoping we'd get an actual pre draft system/workouts, letting us pick an agent, more changes iin the minor league system. Making it less of a grind. Like maybe a story mode that lets us make choices. But I'll gladly take some awesome podcast that have zero effect on gameplay vs stuff that actually makes sense to add! SDS rocks!

    RE: What changed?

    @samusuppiluliuma said in What changed?:

DD is still tied to ballplayer. That's why they have 255 perks and equipment to sell you instead of letting RTTS players just create a character and get all attributes up to 99 without headache or a whole math equation to know your attributes.

Well yeah true. But I'm just glad we don't have to take our player in DD just to make them better. ugh its so annoying. Watching what once was a great game mode, turn into some [censored] I'd expect to find in a Madden game. Not an MLB series. .

    What changed?

What exactly changed this year from last year? You added some new podcast? Who cares. I'm sure most of us skip them anyways. I'm glad to see you finally got rid of the DD [censored] in my ball player. But what exactly did they add? This live stream is literally them showing stuff that's been in the game for years. Pulling a EA and trying to sell old features as new? Still no real kind of story mode or decision system. No interviews, no personality types, no agent selection, no endorsement deals, no off field choices... nothing. Get rid of this dumb archetype/rewards [censored]. Its corny and arcade like. No Russell Ramone or whatever the hell your name is, Nobody like perks. lol. This series has gone downhill so bad,

@thebootman88_psn said in Like if you think the games is just going to be copy and paste + 90 bucks for roster updates?:

If it is just a copy paste then I won't be buying because 21 was by far the worst MLB The Show I have ever played.

It was so bad. There was a glitch in RTTS where your stats weren't counting towards your perks. (which is the dumbest idea they could have possibly done. Go back to the old system of leveling up your player) And I am not sure they ever even fixed it. I quit playing that garbage game a month after release. Went back like 7 months later and the glitch still wasn't fixed. Tons of new DD content though.

Bro same. I deleted the game after a month because I could not play it. RTTS was ruined, but it is still my favorite mode and I would have stuck with it, but it was literally unplayable for the first month of release. The RTTS stream is going to be the make or break factor for me.

Yeah I'm unsure about this years game. MTO is cool and all. But not nearly enough control. DD is fun. But not enough single player stuff. I could careless about playing against dudes who play videogames all day long. And franchise just sucks. They finally made a few changes. But nothing worth $70.
