MLB 23 The Show Heating Up PS5 A LOT!
-
So I bought this a few days ago, hadn't experienced anything since and I've played a LOT of current gen exclusives that aren't even available on a PS4 yet this is the only game I've had this issue with.
After only like 2 hours of play the fan starts speeding up and a couple minutes after I get an on screen display saying your PS5 is getting too hot. Turn it off.
Anyone else experiencing this? Again it's the only game that's done this and it's usually after like 2 hours.
It's real frustrating cus I can't tell if it's a console issue or a game issue.

Do you clean your console every few weeks the heat sink and power supply can get dirty faster than the PS4
-
Do you have your console vertical or horizontal because standing PS5's have been known to leak liquid metal which will cause overheating

I've used an air can to blow out a lot of the dust but other than that I haven't done much.
-
Also yes it's vertical, but here's the thing. No other game has done this to me. That's why I'm curious if it's happening to anyone else cus I'm not sure if it's a game issue and just poor optimization or the console itself and I need to take it to a repair shop

The standing up of the ps5 causing leaking liquid metal has been debunked
-
I heard someone say once that it overheats when you play too much DD, it cools down if you play Franchise

Huh, so maybe it's not just my console. I have played several other PS5 games and while it does get hot, it's never had the fan blow that fast and given me a warning until this game

I would say to at least take the top and bottom covers off and use a small vacuum with an attachment to clean the system dust catchers before taking it in for a repair

Well yeah I mean I don't really plan to take it in until I get to the core of the issue and figure out if it's doing this to other people.
I could honestly take it over to my local repair shop and have them clean it and add new liquid metal and thermal paste for only like 60 bucks but it's still money I'd rather not spend if it's just the game.
I know people have said there have been issues like this on past MLB The Show games on their PlayStations but still. I don't wanna just jump to conclusions and say it's one thing until I know more.

Mine was heating up too, you just need to open it up and clean the dust out, it's very simple, lots of videos on it.
Thanks for the heads up. Appreciate the info. I'm a Giants fan also

Watch the highlights from tonight, great game vs the Dodgers!

Yeah definitely slide those easy to remove covers off and the fan is right there. One little plug for it and a few screws later and you can remove that fan and clean it and the spot it sat in very easily.
This is probably all you need to do, but there are more detailed videos if you want to go further. https://youtu.be/5pRxa5yai5s

I just want to throw my 2 cents in because I play the game almost 10 hours while my girlfriend is at work and never had an issue like you described. I also have to add I’m an early retiree who doesn’t like the outside not a degenerate who plays games all day.

Not sure if that last part was an attempt at an insult or what but thanks for the info I guess lol. I work most of the week so typically I CAN'T play games all day unless it's a day off. Though I do play a lot when I'm able.
-
Huh lol wtf is this

Not directed at you at all. Didn’t want to sound like one of those dudes who dwells in the basement playing games all day long while his girlfriend does all the working.
I never addressed your real concern. If mine was heating up like that for just this game my first thought is delete the game and reinstall the game. Other than that I would just wonder what kind of entertainment center you have it in. Mine is enclosed however I open the door so it’s well ventilated while I’m playing and as you know from before it’s on half the day without issue.

I think that might be his idea of a joke. He only plays Franchise and doesn't care for DD.
On the other side, I play TS23, Diablo 4, and Hogwarts all day everyday. (Major spinal surgery) I have an after market fan my PS5 sits on and clean it with canned air once a week and have never had any issues.

yes mate whatever OP has as a problem here its based on either a dirty floor or cramped air ventilation
cleanliness is next to godliness when it comes to tech in general

A cool room for me as well. When I retired my home office became the place I play games. I set that room a little colder than the rest of the rooms. I got my PS5 at launch but seeing how much of a pain it was to get after that I treated it with kid gloves. Figured the server room at my business was kept cold let me keep this room a little colder as well.
